    Tesla moments

I parked the car with the rear too close to the office building at work a few weeks ago. I was walking up to the car with a 7' long box of pre-finished flooring. So as I arrived at the car, with the box on staying on my shoulder, I pulled out the phone and summoned car forward about 4 feet, then...

Help: new owner -- cannot clean windshield?!

I thought it was me. The model S windscreen has been impossible to get crystal clear. I have tried multiple cleaners and cloths and paper. from the tip above I am now going to try a Bowdens Clay Cloth, much easier to use than the bar. Fingers crossed.

P90D loan car - should I give it a blast?

I cant believe you thought about this long enough to even ask the question. Creep off, find a freeway on ramp, take it out of sports mode (into insane our Ludi). Come to a stop and then slam your foot to the floor. Don't even bother waiting for max battery power or the formal launch. Grin like...

Learn from my mistake: locked out

I decided since over 2/3 of the times I exit the car it is when arriving into my garage, that I would switch off the auto lock. It is convenient for the car to be unlocked for getting access without needing to get the key. I wish the auto lock feature was GPS enabled, so that it locked itself...

[Poll] - Who is ordering P100DL?

I voted no. As a P85D owner, more acceleration is very low on the priority list, I have plenty now. So the cost for the added range is a waste, it is not a big enough change to make a difference in how I use the car. I am happy to wait for new battery technology to take the capacity to 200kwh...

    85 to 100 : only 15 kWh Increase in 4 years?

Elon did say that battery technology would progress in energy density at a rate of 5 to 7% per year. In the last four years the cells tesla is using have only had one significant change with silicon added to the anode when they went from the 85 to the 90. So the actual increase in battery energy...

    Solar Panels + Tesla

Ray, your ahead of your time. There are companies like Dyesol in Australia that are working on thin film PV technology. One day you might be able to roll out a thin carpet (much more portable than the one NovoGasGreeny found in the video) of the size needed to collect the energy to charge the...

100kwh battery in P model only

100kwh battery in P model only

The 100kwh battery announced this morning only shows as being available in the P100D. Sounds like they are supply constrained on these batteries and the option is not yet showing in the Austraian DS.

    Supercharger - Port Macquarie NSW

Unlike an ICE. moving the Model S into neutral does not disengage the drivetrain. The electric motor still spins exactly the same, the reduction gears are engaged etc the mechanical losses stay largely the same. The only gain might be that change in potential energy (height) is converted kinetic...

    Australian insurance quotes

This is terrible news for all of us. If it was a minor bingle and costs a whooping $26k to fix then I can expect my premiums from Youi is skyrocket if this is their experience. There are lots of threads on the US forum about Tesla nominated repair shops charging huge prices. Tesla need to get...

    Australian insurance quotes

New for old for the first 2 years is a great feature to have in a policy. After that many insurance companies use Blue Book data or equivalent which tends to be low. Youi uses actual used car market transaction prices , that plus the 2 year new for old and a very competitve premium albeit with...

Model S Performance & Handling Compared to my BMW

I think the 85D is a great choice although the option to get to 90D is worth considering as I think it is an option that sells well when you get out of the car, unlike other options that don't get much bang for the resale buck. While not exactly the right comparison this video from an Australian...

Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

    GPS Verbal Command Disruption

I had a GPS issue. The voice stopped and was replaced by a continuous buzz that stopped when you made a phone call, but the GPS guidance stopped and never restarted. Called the service people and was told to reboot which fixed it. It has only happened twice so far in 6 weeks.

Model S reversing lights in Australia

Reversing down a long dark winding driveway with rock gardens on either side last night , I was struck by how poor the light put out by the reversing light is. It does not give the view in the camera enough clarity and does not cast enough light to properly define low objects in the wing...

    White vs Pearl White

I got the pearl white and up close or in soft light it looks very nice, gives it a sense of luxury. Today it was parked in bright sunlight next to my non metallic Fuji white Discovery and from a distance there was no difference. Like Ray said if it is dirty then no difference.

Your average household consumption in KWh.

I have just got the car so will be interested to see how much the numbers change. Over the last year I have bought on average 30kWh per day and sold on average 67kWh per day. This means on average we consume 48kWh per day across the year as I produce on average 85kWh per day year round with a...

    7.0 in Australia

I have done 500km since yesterday evening and over 400km of that was on Autopilot. (From Sunshine coast to Toowoomba and back, plus a bit of running around.) A few observations, some already noted by others. The car performed better than i expected and I only had to take control about 6 times...

Distance driving - Brisbane to Sydney

Ray, I picked up the car from Autonexus today and used 18kWh for the 99km for the trip home. Sitting on the limit on cruise control. With your numbers from Bris, the return trip to Toowoomba from the coast should be around 84kwh. If I leave with a full charge and get 16kwh overnight on the UMC...

Distance driving - Brisbane to Sydney

I should get the car this week, it left the Sydney store on Friday. On next Sunday afternoon / night, I have to drive to Toowoomba from the Sunshine Coast and back. Leaving at 4.00pm. It is total of 450km. I assume that is probably beyond the range of the car, even sitting right on the speed...

HPWC | what is the expected charge rate when at home.

On the charging screen in the car there is a slider to set the amperage limit. I have seen the pictures with it at 32 amps. What are the other options. Hopefully something different to the dip switch settings which have a gap between 40 and 20 amps.

    Model S Insurance in Australia

I bought my policy last week. As a few have noticed, Progressive have a large gap between agreed value and replacement cost and while they had the lowest premium ($900) , that was a deal breaker for me. I checked a few others and went with Youi. At just under $1100 they had a 2 year new for old...

Is Mooloolaba the most Northerly Destination Charger so far. Peter Foran is the Chair of the Mooloolaba Spit Association and manages a some holiday accom at Mooloolaba beach on the spit. He is a forward thinker always looking for ideas to promote tourism at Mooloolaba. I suggested he think...

    Superchargers in Australia

Agree that picking up two streams of traffic at 8 mile plains is a benefit. An advantage with the one on the gateway near the airport is not only do you get the main North South traffic flow but also provide really good support for people driving in to fly out of Brisbane Airport. There are...

    Superchargers in Australia

If superchargers are for long distance travel then I question why they would be installed in the city. In the case of Brisbane I think they should be on the highway perhaps near the airport in the precinct with DFO etc. That way highway travellers from the north or South are not forced into a...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

From streetview it looks like it against the right side of the existing building where the two grey cars are parked behind what might be an ice fridge. With conduit coming down from the roof to the charger it is probably a very quick solution. I wonder how much power capacity it has given that...

    Supercharger - Euroa VIC

I think it is great that Tesla has put in a small supercharger station at Euroa. With only perhaps 500 Model S in Australia the number of cars that will be driving between capital cities this year is very small maybe a couple per day between Melbourne and Sydney if all the charging locations are...

new battery technology being developed in australia

Zinc Bromide is primarily for stationary applications and is unlikely to replace LiIon for mobile applications.
