What does supercharger V3 mean for existing model S owners?

My MS 70d was manufactured in Oct 2015 and only can super charge at 135 KW/hr. After the upgrade, I can use CCS charging, V3 super charge and the charging rate can be much increased. The cost here is HKD2,250.

Shop Recommendation for Aftermarket Audio Upgrade

The original speakers inside the four doors of MS are real cheap and with the quality similar to $100 crappy speaker unit in Shamshuipo. Simply upgrade the 4 speakers in the doors have already given great improvement. Your budget is good enough.

Emergency braking and Side Collision never to be approved in Hong Kong

The radar in Tesla operates near 77.5G which is an authorized band spectrum for car radar. Police radar uses a totally different frequency (I am not going to disclose it here). Further band spectrum around 77.5 Ghz is now under investigation for car radar operation. On the contrary, some...

    Anyone use 13A charging cable?

Most government public car parks come with Type 2 32A single phase medium charger "bee hive". The charging rate is about 32km / hr. The problem now is not the number of chargers but most of the charging slots are occupied by ICE especially those in government public car parks. The HKSAR...

    so do I.

    Anyone use 13A charging cable?

Just to leave yourself open to all charging options, and plug-in whenever chargers are available. Charging EV is like charging your smartphone, we don't wait till the last moment when the low power warning signal is on. Very different from ICE which will be usually tanked up at the last moment.

Superchargers in Hong Kong are not for long distance travel

In the old days, we kept on blaming charging slots occupied by ICE. Now, the most complaints are from selfish EV users occuping a charging slot without charging needs.

Problem with charging facelifted model s 75

    Tesla OS 8 Update

Under current transport legislation which is stone-aged, the approval is not automatic. Tesla HK should apply to TD for approval of 8.0. No doubt, TD is highly bureaucratic and red tape, the matter also depends on how Tesla HK diligently follow up with TD. TD is definitely to be blamed but...

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

1 King's Road, Tin Hau Government public car park, there are 6 x type 2 32A medium chargers. The philosophy of charging EV in Hong Kong : whenever chargers are available, plug-in and charge (no matter what kind of chargers, as long as you have the right cables).

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

The use of Taobao cable (but not restricting the charging current to 10A) could be the cause of so many burnt 13A sockets in the public carparks. The taobao cable EVSE is designed for 16A. It can only be used with 13A sockets when the charging current is dialed down to 10A. I repeatedly said...

Model S60 for Hong Kong use

Superchargers in Hong Kong are not for long distance travel

In the old days, I always persuaded my friends to go for EV. The above situation did happen to my friends. Now, I re-phrase my recommendation - 'Go for EV if you have a proper charging solution' I know Tesla users will get credits by referral but I don't want to upset my friends by simply...

Wall Connector powered by 13A wall socket

This will depend on the current capacity of the wiring behind the socket. Assuming the wiring behind the socket can only support 13A, your charger takes 10A and the washing machine takes 5A, then the total is 10+5 = 15A which is higher than the capacity of 13A. Under this situation, the wiring...

Monthly subscription plan for home charging

If you are a heavy mileage user, then $1800 per month is not that bad. Assuming you can charge 8 hrs per day, all you get will be: 32A x 8 hr x 30 days = 7680km Whether this plan is cheap or not, this will depend on how you can fully utilize the charging time.
  27. jsiu

Monthly subscription plan for home charging

If charging at 32A for 30 hours , this implies around 1000km per month. $1280 for 1000km is more or less the same fuel cost for running a small ICE. Not much saving in f\uel costs in using EV but you enjoy other goodies of driving EV,

Wall Connector powered by 13A wall socket

100% sure, 10A x 220V = 2.2Kw, my 70d consumes 1 KwHr for every 5km. 2.2Kwhr x 5km = about 10Km. This in fact shown on my Tesla Iphone App at 10km/hr. If you cannot get 10km when charging at 220V @10A, I would suggest you contact service centre. Or you have a bad 13 A cable. Sometimes, you...

Wall Connector powered by 13A wall socket

I think we have to change the mind set of 'tank-up'. For ICE, you only go to petrol station when the tank is empty. For EV, the practice should be 'plug and charge' whenever and wherever there is a charger. No matter fast or slow, when there is a charger, just 'plug and charge'.
  30. jsiu

Wall Connector powered by 13A wall socket

All depend on your daily mileage. I only travel 60-70km per day. 10A charging via 13A socket implies a rate of 10km/hr. An overnight charging has already been more than sufficient to top up the battery. In the circumstances, only a proper well-built 13A water proof socket will be good enough...

Hong Kong Tesla Model S Charging Standard

The BS1363 cable is now available at Tesla HK at about HK$1,700, not expensive. I simply keep all the charging options opened to myself and plug-in whenever possible, no matter how fast or slow charge. Plug-in whenever possible becomes my habit now.

Superchargers in Hong Kong are not for long distance travel

I cannot give you an answer. However, we have to change our habit of refueling. In the era of ICE, we only tanked up when empty. For EV, just plug in whenever is possible and chargers are available. Don't wait for the last moment.
