Hi - does anyone know if we can still order the pre-refresh Model X? Wanted to have a car that’s delivered quicker than next year, but it looks like I can only order the refreshed version and wait 6+ months for it to be delivered 😓

The Thinkware dashcam requires 2 powered wires - one is a constant 12v (which can be easily tapped into from the wires on the left side of the driver footwell area), and a switched 12v that cuts power off when the car is parked and locked in order to kick in the dashcam’s parking recording mode...

Answering my own question - there seems to be a switched 12v source in the driver side center console area, to the right of the accelerator peddle. It’s kind of difficult to rip open the center console carpet cover on the side, I finally gave up and have Johnny from Calibred Custom to install...

I don’t think they are (and certainly hope they won’t) giving your car to someone else, perhaps they found out problems with your car and it will be quicker to give you another one rather than fixing it. It’s probably a huge disappointment for you, but on the bright side you might’ve avoided...

Do you know why it’s not good to use the ground from the battery? Isn’t that ground connected to the same ground as other components? Do you know where else would be a good location for ground!

I used a red wire that I pulled from that bundle of wires, it’s a bit thicker compared to other wires.

Depends on how bad is your damage and how long you want to keep your car, what the DV expert charge might not be worth it (assuming you are even able to get the value back from the other party’s insurance at the first place)

Ah, good idea, if there are any power source near the battery that will turn on/off with the car, I can tap into that. When you have a chance, would you mind posting a picture of what the terminals of your battery currently look like after the hard wire has been connected?

When your installer took apart the trims, were they able to find where the fuse box is? I have a different dash cam and need a connection to the ACC in order to activate parking mode, so connect to the fuse box (if there is one) would work better.

Thanks for pointing out the energy usage. Looks like from Rancho Cucamonga to Primm will use 75kwh, so assuming that's correct there will be 10kwh left when arriving Primm. Is 10kwh too little of a buffer?
