Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Hi Philipp,
But will you still be able to charge for free your imported model S in France/Europe using that $700 adapter?
Has anyone successfully done that?
And if so, what guarantee do we have that Tesla will not end up blocking one day free supercharging for these imported model S?
Serge
Two standard Model S 19'' Continental Eagle Touring tires (no wheel)
Model: M+S 245/45R19 They have the soundproofing foam (please see pics)
They don't have much thread left, so can literally call them "bald eagle" tires!
That said, they are perfect to keep in case of emergency,
as Tesla Road...
I have a brand new Tesla Gen2 Wall charger to sell.
It is the now-discontinued 80AMP charger with 24 ft cable (Silver color).
Soon, this one will become harder and harder to get.
My original plan was to install it in my garage when I got my S in 2018, but since I am lucky to have free...
As brico suggested, getting Tesla Service Center to install it might be the easiest way to go. Otherwise, the following video can help:
I also remember using a hair dryer to soften the glue when I swapped mine... (It was the Tesland version but the procedure is pretty much the same)
Tesla Outdoor Model S cover in excellent condition
Bought it new from Tesla for $400 here:
https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-s-car-cover
My S is fully wrapped and stays in the garage so I don't really need the exterior cover.
Selling mine for $290. Only tried twice so it is in like-new...
Please be aware that fully disassembling the mirrors can be very time-consuming.
I did that a few years ago to successfully perform a "chrome delete" and install a 360 camera system, so in the end, it was worth the effort for me...
You will need some plastic pry tools and torx screwdrivers if...
Have a 2018 100D Model S and attached my OBDLink scanner to the diag canbus connector you mentioned underneath the 17'' screen without any issue. I am not affiliated with teslatap but found their page quite informative, so hope it is ok to share this link here...
So if your mirrors still fold despite disabling Auto-Tilt and Mirror Auto-Fold, go to your quick controls screen.
If you see a "auto-fold" at location checkbox enabled, disable that. Sorry, didn't take a screenshot then but that did the trick for me...
Also wish Tesla would fix the browser. I remember a time when it was possible to browse full screen on S/X... Now Tesla shrunk it to the lower 1/2 screen in the 10.8 FSD Beta just downloaded a few days ago. Tesla please fix the browser and allow the user to resize to full screen.
The 360kit can record footage to a SD card but only when driving. (not 24/7)
and the resolution is not super high (also distorted as fisheye cameras are used).
The footage could still be useful in case of an accident but in my opinion not a replacement to a normal Dashcam or Tesla Cam recording.
I agree with the overall goal to transition from fossil fuels to renewables as well as making internet access more accessible in general, but people have to be aware that tens of thousands of these satellites (from Starlink and competitors) are planned to be launched in the coming years and they...
Thanks for sharing. A Tesla Ranger upgraded my 2018 MS to AP3 two months ago and I have had no issue using the 360kit after the upgrade.
Since you mentioned extension cables, I recommend adding one of these to the driver side mirror for any new install:
(the side that connects to the 360 module...
I would unplug/replug the 360 ODB cable to reboot the 360... sometime that helps.
Otherwise, yes, It is indeed possible to connect it wrong.
Bottom line is that the OEM backup camera has to stay connected directly to the HW2.x/3 input so Autopilot can see the back feed at all times.
To function...
Have done my own chrome delete and wrapping the mirrors was very time consuming.
This is why shops often charge a thousand dollars or more to do it...
Basically, to do it properly, it is indeed necessary to disassemble the whole mirrors after removing the door panels, as shown in the video that...
Cool! How do you get to record in this mode?
Is there a toggle somewhere in the menu to switch recording between the default 4 fisheyes mosaic view and top/3D view like in your video?
Yes, you need the calibration sheets on the ground for fine-tuning the position of the A-H points,
but as soon as you start "merging computation" you could pack the sheets,
start driving around or turn off all the lights in your garage, that would not affect the result.
From what I can see, the...
BTW, something else I discovered... you don’t need to recalibrate all 4 sides simultaneously. You can for example fine tune front+sides or even front+Left or front+right and leave the back alone. Once the recalibration button is hit, you could even turn off the light... cameras are not used at...
I initially had the same problem. Although there might be several ways to address this, in my case I was able to reduce the front divergence (make all the lines parallel) by positioning the provided front calibration b/w pattern fabric closer to the car (almost flush with the nose of the car)...
My unit was shipped December 2018.
I am not aware of any official repository for newer 360 firmware versions.
Here are the versions it came with:
SW.6030.R 3.9 0 (Software)
FW.6030.R 2.1 9 (Firmware)
MW.6030.R 1.7 9 (MCU)
HW.6030.R 3.2 5 (Hardware)
Apparently, newer units shipped this year...
Thanks StarLog!
The issue I ran into was that the 360 would not recognize any of my large SDCard (>32GB) plugged into the USB port.
Here are the cards I tried:
Samsung endurance Pro 128GB (High endurance, preferred choice for dashcams)
Samsung Evo 256GB
Sandisk Ultra Plus 64GB
Unit would say...
Question regarding the 360 unit...
What is the biggest SDCard/USB thumbdrive or SSD
that you have successfully attached to the external USB port to record videos?
How was yours formatted? NTFS or exFat?
Was it formatted using the 360 menu or on PC?
What was the brand & size?
So far I am only...
Ah... For the turn signals to work with the 360 unit your car must be "on", that is, make sure it did not go back to "sleep"
Enter pin to drive if you have one and switch to park/drive/reverse etc before triggering your left/right turn signals...
ps: Thanks for the cigar but I am all hooked to...
Yes, it should respond to the remote. Make sure to wait for maybe 20s after a reboot for the unit to be fully responsive.
The 3D view should change if you use the left/right turn signal.
Maybe the battery for the remote needs to be replaced?
Simply unplug/replug the ODB2 connector that provides power to the unit.
Most of the time it is a non issue since power to ODB2 is cut every time you lock the car, so the 360 gets rebooted regularly
Contemplating the idea of adding an easily accessible power switch between the ODB2 and 360 unit.
Aside from the wear, unplugging/replugging the ODB2 port is a hassle when the 360 unit freezes.
Seem like Tesla could sell you the part, but it might be expensive.
BTW the top dash piece is not glued. It can be swapped out completely.
Another cost-effective option is to wrap the one you have with vinyl,
I just covered my ash wood panels with 3M "carbon fiber" vinyl pattern. Looks great...
You can try, but the glove compartment is really "on the way" and making relocations harder...
For me, the best place to put the HDMI and 360 units was still behind the glove compartment.
Cables were just not long enough to move the units elsewhere but I could put the blue ODB box and...
