    AS4 255/35/21 + 275/35/21 on 2017 Staggered Turbines?

I've always replaced my 2017 S75D tires with the same OE tires it was built with, the ContiSport 5 245/35/21 and 265/35/21. They're about ready to be replaced, and I'm considering switching to Michelin All Season 4, for longer life and occasional use in the snow. To get the T0 spec tires I need...

Update on AP Camera Update for Older S/X Vehicles

Has anyone been able to validate whether there is any sot of setting or camera check that "allow lists" the car for beta access? I've already DIY'ed the triple cam and fender cameras with the latest rev. Didn't do the B-pillar cameras since I originally did the upgrade for better dashcam and...

Update on AP Camera Update for Older S/X Vehicles

I apologize if this has already been answered in the many pages of this thread, but do you have to own/subscribe to FSB before Tesla will do the camera upgrade? I had my 2017 S upgraded to MCU2 + FSD computer a few months ago, but don't actually own the FSD feature. I'd like to sign up for the...

Gen 3 Charger Power Sharing - who has this working?

This is exactly how my Gen2 power sharing has worked for years. It sucks, and sometimes the actively charging car will get "stuck" at a lower speed than it should. For example, last night mine only ramped up to 24A when it should normally ramp to 34A on my 40A shared circuit. This is when the...

    Model Y Longest Cargo?

I don't usually intend to buy 10' stuff, but a number I've times I've found they only sell what I need in 10' sections instead of 8'. It's nice to be able to haul it home rather than bring tools and hack it up in the parking lot. Still have my S. :P

Swap my Staggered Grey Turbine 21s for your Staggered Grey Twin Turbine 21s?

I'm not 100% set on changing my wheels yet, but the look of the Twin Turbines is growing on me. I know some people prefer the look of the older Turbine wheels, so I thought I'd put a feeler out to see if anyone with a newer S might be interested in swapping their Twin Turbines for my Turbines...

    Upgrading AP cameras

Well I got the car back and now AP is working properly again. They did install a new -1.2 degree camera mounting plate, just like that TSB document suggested may be necessary. Now I have a new problem though.... With the camera pointed more downward, it now "sees" the fuzzy glareshield piece and...

    Upgrading AP cameras

I lucked out and was able to get an SC appointment on the morning of 4/1, so we'll see if they're able to sort it out. My googling did also find this, which I was previously unaware of: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Tesla/SB-17-17-002/190 I wonder if my car is in the affected batch, and the new...

    Upgrading AP cameras

So I got my Model 3 triple camera from eBay and installed it tonight. I took a slightly different approach; I removed the four screws on the back of the camera unit and just swapped the old backplate onto the new camera. Thus avoiding having to cut any tabs off. It appears to work since it...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I think the safest best is for us to stop trying to make any sense out of Tesla's wild ass pricing and feature changes lol.
  11. jimmyz80

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Ahhhhh now it makes sense. They were telling me that the upgrade price had increased, but they would honor the $1,500 price based on the date that I created the service appointment. I thought it was crazy talk, since the page still showed $1,500 at the time, but it looks like the price did in...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Yup, this ^^^^ I believe I paid $130 and lucked out that they sold them to me as part of the invoice for the MCU upgrade when the car was in the shop. When I followed up afterward to try and buy the triple cam, they said no, since they are restricted parts and can't be sold without Tesla doing...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I just realized I updated some other threads but not this one. I got my S75D back from the Rocklin service center in less than 24 hours and everything was perfect, except they forgot to plug in my hazard light button. They sent out mobile service for that quick fix though. So I went from MCU1...

    Upgrading AP cameras

Awesome, thanks! I see the Model 3 cam also has an additional mounting "socket" on top for an adjustment that the S/X doesn't have. Did you have to trim that off as well, or does it just tuck out of the way when installed?
  16. jimmyz80

    Upgrading AP cameras

Are the tabs that needed cutting visible in this photo and you can just highlight or explain what you had to do? I don't believe the S/X version has the "arms" on each side.

    Upgrading AP cameras

That's the main reason I want to upgrade, since I already upgraded the fender cams and now the front-facing video looks like crap in comparison. I suspect most of the neural network training will take place on video frames from the newer cameras, since there's just simply a lot more of them in...

Just heard back from Tesla and got my answer. $175 - I now have one on order. :)

    Upgrading AP cameras

Quick question....does anyone know what Tesla's price is for the Triple Cam? I'm trying to figure out if I should buy one from ebay, but I have no frame of reference for what Tesla would charge me for the part. Thanks!

    Side Cameras Loose

I just replaced these cameras on my Model S today and found this thread since one of the new ones is a little loose. I wouldn’t worry about them falling out, since even with the clips all disengaged, they’re still a royal pain in the ass to fully remove. I had to practically destroy one to free...

    Upgrading AP cameras

A quick update. I got the car back today with my MCU2 + HW3 upgrade, along with the new camera parts. I installed them tonight and they appear to function properly, with better color rendering than my old 2.0 cameras. This is purely based on the cursory view of the inside of my garage lol. I...

    Upgrading AP cameras

Wanted to jump in here... I have my car at Tesla right now for the MCU2 upgrade which they claim will also include the HW3 computer. I had asked them to order me the 1125107-00-E and 1125106-00-E marker cameras, as documented in a bunch of threads. They got back to me and suggested the part...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Next closest one is an additional couple of hours away, so that's sort of a no-go. :( I'm near Folsom Lake, so I use the Rocklin SC.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Thanks! That's how I'm hoping mine will go, and yes I'm 100% aligned on what should and shouldn't work. Was also already planning on upgrading the cameras once I know I have the FSD computer in the car. Fingers crossed that my service center doesn't let me down. :)

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

Does anyone have a very recent experience getting an AP2.0 MCU1 non-FSD car upgraded to MCU2, and can comment on whether they received the FSD computer as part of the kit? I have my upgrade scheduled for tomorrow, pretty much for the sole purpose of adding Dashcam and Sentry Cam functionality...

    Model Y Longest Cargo?

This isn't quite what I'm looking for. I'm more curious what the measurement would be from where the base of the windshield meets the dashboard, to the opposite rear corner of the hatch. There have been a few times where I've needed to lay a towel down on the dash, wrap the front end of the...

    Model Y Longest Cargo?

Out of curiosity, has anyone measured what the longest possible cargo length would be in a Model Y? I have a Model S and have been toying with replacing it with a Model Y. The Model S can fit a 10' board, pipe, etc. inside with all the doors and windows closed. It would be nice if this was also...

Profiles Lost & "Needs service, car may not restart next time"

Argh, that's what I was worried about. I wonder how much arguing it will take to get a proactive replacement of the MCU, or if they have to wait for specific error messages/failures... I'd like to keep the car for another two years before upgrading, and don't really want to pump any extra $$...

Profiles Lost & "Needs service, car may not restart next time"

I just did a factory reset and the streaming radio stations remained, so I suspect they are just tied to the Slacker Radio account used by the car. Should I just write this off as a hiccup in the update process that corrupted some memory, or should I be worried that my MCU is on its way out?

Profiles Lost & "Needs service, car may not restart next time"

My 2017 Model S (HW2.0 MCU1) just updated to 2020.48.12.1, and something alarming happened afterward. I got in the car and had a "Needs service, car may not restart next time" message, plus all of my driver profiles disappeared. "Allow Mobile Access" was also turned off and I had to re-enable it...

    Supercharger - Folsom, CA - Palladio Parkway (LIVE 11 Aug 2016, 10 V2 + 20 V3 stalls)

Charging here now and was super stoked to see the new V3 hardware. Sounds like the pedestals and wiring troughs are all fan cooled. Saw my fastest charge rate ever, on my old 2017 S75D. 132kW but it tapered off quickly. :( Edit: Appears my phone posted the photos sideways. Will fix when I get home.

gateway 2 rolling out in US yet?

Damn really? Is there an official installation guide posted anywhere for the Gateway 2? I was supposed to have my Powerwalls installed today and they did show up with a Gateway 2, but cancelled the installation due to some existing damage in my main panel. We talked over possibly using the...

Passenger (Right) Side Roadster Headlight - Excellent Condition - No Peeling

    Powerwall Automated Load Shedding?

Has anyone seen or invented any good ways to shed large electrical loads during a grid failure? Our Powerwall design is going to end up backing up the whole house, since it'd be a huge job to separate our pool and spa equipment onto a separate sub panel. It would be nice to just have some...

    Wall Connector Power Sharing Behavior?

I'm a little confused by your response. The car should always pull the maximum current available, unless you're charging up to like 99% or something, then it starts to taper off.

    Wall Connector Power Sharing Behavior?

Question for those of you who have multiple Wall Connectors wired in a power sharing configuration. Even if one of your cars is completely asleep, does your other, actively charging car indicate the charing current is bouncing around? When I just had a single Wall Connector, I'd plug in the...

    Sub Panels with Large Loads

Yes this is the common knowledge that I've always operated on, and why we have residential load calculation formulas to size panels and conductors. This is why I was surprised by the simple comment of just looking at breaker size. I'm fine with having to run downstairs and turn off the breaker...

    Sub Panels with Large Loads

I assume the 60A breaker threshold is only for branch breakers? Ie. the 100A feeder breakers for sub panels wouldn't fall into this category?

    Sub Panels with Large Loads

Thanks! Out of curiosity, who did you use for the install? Tesla directly, or a third party? I originally got my design process started with Tesla, but then yesterday reached out to V3 Electric since some neighbors have used them. They seem knowledgeable and helpful on the phone, but some of...

    Sub Panels with Large Loads

We moved into a new (to us) house in El Dorado Hills, CA a few months ago and finally pulled the trigger on ordering some Powerwalls to shield ourselves from PG&E power outages. Based on my initial research I ordered three Powerwalls, mainly for the increased output current so we can have our...

    Cargo Space vs Model S?

Does anyone happen to have experience hauling long cargo, like 8' or 10' lumber, pipes, etc.? The Model S has come in handy since I can easily carry standard 10' lengths of these items home from Home Depot for projects around the house. I'm curious if anyone has been able to do the same with...

New Cal fire code for Powerwalls?

Has anyone seen any updates on whether this new code is being enforced, or if it has been impacting the way Tesla designs the installations? I'm nearly ready to pull the trigger on 2-3 units, but this spacing stuff is really worrying me.

    WTB: 19" Model S Wheels - Norcal

Just moved to CA with my 21" turbines and realized there are no chain options for them - d'oh! Would love to find a deal on some 19" wheels or a wheels/tire combo that I could pick up anywhere between SJ and Tahoe. I will be down in SF tomorrow 1/24/20 if anyone has anything immediately available.

Existing Solar City - Navigating Adding PW2s and Add'l Solar

I recently moved back home to CA after spending about a decade in NC, and our new (to us) home came with a 7.2KW Tesla Solar system (installed under the Solar City name). PG&E has been an absolute disaster since we've moved in, so I want to protect ourselves as much as possible from grid...
