Will a HPWC crimped with a plug to a NEMA 14-50 socket be safe? I am worried about heat, stability, breaker tripping, fire under 40 Amps
This way the NEMA 14-50 can be used as a backup in case the HPWC fails; anyone know the warranty on the HPWC?

Yes, Poll would have made more sense. Thanks for all the comments. A HPWC has been ordered, Tax+Shipping made it go above $800 bucks, but I guess it's worth it.
What is the expert opinion on using just UMC in your personal garage rather than mounting a HPWC if you do not have dual chargers and only plan to charge at 40A?
Any pros and cons you can suggest to help make the decision easier?
thanks,

Some more questions on the next gen seats since now they're available for all models. I wonder if it is too late to change my order for Summer delivery.
1) Is the bottom surface of the seat softer or harder than the old seats?
2) some have compared the new seats to BMW seats and I find BMW...
It does not make sense, you get a three year lease but the Yearly Service contracts are for four years. Why pay for the extra year?
My last vehicle was serviced completely free by BMW for the full 3 years including brakes except tires; it was perhaps bundled into the lease payment.
I can see that when you get a pizza or something with strong odor it can trickle up to the cabin area if you place it in the trunk. The Frunk is the ideal place for it but it would be so much nicer if they could provide a power close on the Frunk too... it would be nice to get it free as a part...
PatD,
If you like hanging on to your vehicles, you can get the first 3 years on lease and not worry about keeping track of mileage; then buy the car for residual amount after 5 years and write off by refinancing it for the rest of the 5 years of residual using the mileage method; I believe...
This is the letter I sent out to the managers of my Ownership Advisor after I put in my order of my S85D; I wanted to share this with everyone.

I wanted to share my experience in purchasing my first Tesla. I have been a strong proponent of alternative energy and I love technology and...
I am currently on the fence after being offered $12,000 less than the blue book price; this is before they looked at my car so I am not sure if it'll get better after they see it; with this offer I'd rather keep my premium ICE SUV even though I would rarely use it after getting my S85D :biggrin...
Osama, you have more than 150k invested, you own two cars and there are not very many Tesla families out there who are true believers. I don't blame you for looking for an ICE car for your wife; as much as my wife was thrilled in driving and riding during the test drives, getting both BEV cars...
The problem I see here is not that **** happens with new technology, maybe it was the cold temperature or maybe it was the assembly guy high on pot, who knows!
What matters is how Tesla dealt with it. As cold as it was, there should be no reason for this bad experience.
I know someone who...
One thing Tesla could do is encourage more universal charging stations, we all have power but no one can afford an underground tank to hold petrol; this is a huge advantage if they want more charging stations than gas stations in a few years to come; universal charging stations could also...
