Nice implementation of the LDU non removal fix! I would suggest 3d print a connector that connects the pipe that goes to the heat exchanger to the main coolant line instead of capping it.
So I did the coolant delete today. I cut the manifold with a reciprocating saw and capped the bottom part and upper part with JBweld water weld. I used a 3/4 1/2 3/4 tee to supply coolant to the upper tube that goes to the heat exchange. It took me about an hour. I had to top off the reservoir...
Hi nemisonic,
I have just finished prototyping the connector for the top coolant tube. I know there’s minimal coolant going up there but Im trying to emulate as much as possible what tesla did with their coolant delete design. I used a block off ac kit for the chevy suv. They are like $11 on...
Thank you howardc64 for the wealth of knowledge you have with the LDU. I've been reading your posts nonstop in the forum, very informative. I still have so much to read.
I didn't think about the dry PTFE seal and really appreciate for pointing that out. I think what Im going to do now is to put...
Im trying to do the bypass as easy as possible by not removing the LDU. I drilled a hole on the trunk Bec there is no space around the LDU to get to the top coolant line. With the hole, the top coolant line can be easily disconnected and be connected to a line that will be connected to the tee...
You’re right I really dont like the idea of just blocking the port and not use the pipe. So I revised the plan. Instead of abandoning the pipe, a tee fitting will be used to supply coolant to it. An ac block off kit can be used to block the port on top.
I guess jbweld then rtv sealant on top of it? I think the cavity going up to the rotor is has a rough surface and jbweld might be just enough the psi of the coolant flowing can’t be that high.
Hi everyone I just discovered that I have coolant on the speed sensor of my model s. After researching and reading this thread I came up with this procedure to make a very easy “coolant delete”. It just uses Jbweld to block off the passage way leading up to the rotor. And block the top port...
