Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Ummmm...
So I got the recall email and less than 1 week later my 2014 Model S steering failed. I found 2 sheared off bolts in the driveway. Now the car is at Tesla Montreal waiting for a new rack. I wonder how long it’ll take.... hating my Ford loaner.
Just had my 80,000km March 2015 85D suffer the same fate. Sheared bolt on the ground in my driveway. Currently the car is in the Montreal service centre waiting for a new rack.
I recently moved and lost my home charging set up. I find myself looking for a charge all the time. My new place doesn’t have the capacity to add a plug in the garage. I suddenly feel like I need a local Ottawa supercharger.. or a gas powered car. Does anyone know if or when Ottawa will get...
I agree with most of this. Ottawa isn't really "on the way" to somewhere else which is why, I suspect, there are no superchargers. Day trips become a problem, but realistically, an Ottawa day trip would only happen from Montreal or Kingston. Other travellers would stay overnight and destination...
Ontario is perfectly poised to be the California of the North when it comes to Tesla cars. We have excess electricity, we have a government that has pledged $20M for new chargers and we have manufacturing capacity to build cars. Government must understand that the 2 problems plaguing EVs are...
I don't mean to accuse people of abusing the Montreal superchargers. In some ways I hope that easily accessible superchargers increase the uptake of he car. I just think Montreal is relatively underserviced for demand. Montreal deserves better. It has a great Tesla store and lots of potential...
Montreal superchargers getting busy...
I was at the Montreal supercharger site yesterday and there were 4 Teslas for 2 superchargers and 4 HPWCs. I was the only one from out of town. The rest were locals, with one guy range charging his 85D not for a trip but for the electrons. The maximum...
Oshawa charging options
Agreed! I'm driving to that GM town - Oshawa... Checked out Plugshare, seems the Volt prompted GM to install a couple of chargers in town. Are these available to MS owners? Any word on possible Cobourg superchargers?
Vaudreueil SC?
This is is exactly why a SC on the West Island makes sense - somewhere at the confluence of the 20/30/40 - bypass Montreal. Anyone who has suffered trying to get to the SC on Ferrier, especially during rush hour knows what I mean. Cornwall is also a pain if you're travelling...
Green Plated vehicles in Ontario:
I'm not sure this is common knowledge, but thought I would share it anyway -
The Ministry of Transportation responded to an email I sent regarding green-plated vehicles and confirmed they intend to extend the HOV lane access for EVs in Ontario at least until...
Request for dual charger denied!
My request to add a dual charger was denied. It looks like I will be praying that the supercharger network for eastern Ontario and West Quebec are up and running by March if I hope to travel. Either that or I add the second charger after-the-fact. I can always...
I sent an email to see if they can add another charger to my car. Dual chargers seem like an insurance policy more than a necessity based the the comments I read above. Hopefully a robust SC network will make it obsolete. It is good to get an education by current owners!
I am looking for an opinion. My car is on order S85D - late March delivery. Should the increase in the numbers of HPWCs prompt me to switch from single to dual chargers? Tesla Toronto contact said to get single charger but .... Opinions?
I was browsing the Tesla Forum and noted that one of the members proposed that Tesla provide a Sticky for each SC, with specific information about reasons for delays and degree of progress. I love the idea, it would give us an opportunity to identify causes for delays and potentially apply...
Supercharge the 401
@Chrisizzle:
I agree that there has been poor planning in Ontario. The 401 as you probably know is the busiest highway in the world (if you believe Wikipedia). The volumes are staggering. Servicing the 401 properly, even if to excess, is going to make more drivers happy...
Reading through these posts it sounds like we need a Supercharger in Cobourg to make the Toronto-Montreal/Ottawa route really stress free, even if Kingston comes online in the next week or two. People seem to rely on the Best Western in Cobourg... Time to lobby Tesla?
Excellent! Will look for your car again. We are at soccer Sat and Sun, don't be surprised if a couple of kids are peering through your window - they did last week. My son said "We'll keep the inside of our Tesla clean like this one because people will want to look in our car too." Love it!
I...
Hi - New to TMC - waiting for a March delivery of a blue 85D... Saw 2 Teslas today at the RA Center -that was very encouraging! Looking forward to the K-Town SC, I drive down to TO and Cobourg frequently. I think the Ottawa-Montreal corridor would be better served with a SC in Vaudreuil...
