    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

There’s been a pallet of something delivered to the site today. 10 x something. Aren’t we expecting two new stalls?

    Supercharger - Macquarie Park, NSW

I took this photo just now. I’m excited. It’s a great location with easy access in and out. The vehicle access is much easier than Broadway. There’s direct foot access to the best bit of the shops. The whole valet area is usually quiet, which makes it ideal. Plenty of room for 10 bays here. As...

    Supercharger - Berry, NSW

Yes, the Berry Supercharger is open! Six stands at the Silos Estate on the Princes Highway! Apparently the official opening date is yet to be advised, but it’s definitely operating. Sorry I don’t have a photo.

    Gigafactory Opening Event- Lottery

I've heard of at least ten Aussies going to the opening on Friday. I didn't win a ticket, but I'm going as a guest with someone. Totally excited! Can't wait. The short notice makes it a bit hectic to get to Nevada, but it's so exciting!

Hi Richard, so far there are 8 people for dinner tomorrow night in Sydney. I sent some messages in case people didn't read these posts in time. It should be a great evening. I'm going to ask Matt what it's like to have just driven 4,000km but have 6,000km left to complete the trip!! If anyone...

Invite to Model 3 Unveiling ...

Hey I'm planning to win a ticket too. When I received the email, there was only a 21 hour window to apply I think. I'm hoping to see the golden ticket email on Thursday or Friday AEDT. If anyone in Aus/NZ gets a ticket, please post the news here!

    Driving through Water

Justin, I occasionally drive through water (creek crossing). I got the air suspension option because it goes up a bit higher than standard suspension. But I think it only puts the clearance up to around 16cm, given the style of the car. I don't know exactly how much water I've been through, but...

    7.1 in Australia

Hi everyone, I just got an update from 7.1 (2.9.154) to (2.11.54). It took 30 min. It gives all the release notes for Summon Beta, but at the top it says: " Summon is not yet available in Australia due to regulatory restrictions ". Indeed, the Summon option is not available in settings. The...

Spotted in Australia and New Zealand

Yep, well spotted! Ouch. I wonder if its possible to repair scrapes on those 21" rims when they get that bad. On a Model S90 too. I'm glad to have 19" wheels. They don't get curb rash or punctures as easily as the 21" wheels in my experience.

Can the Model S read texts from my phone?

I just hold the button on my iPhone and say 'read the text message to me'. It reads the message through the car speakers via Bluetooth. I guess by touching my phone I could get a fine, but it hasn't happened yet. I don't need to look at the phone. It's pretty easy to find the button by touch. Of...

    Australian Supercharger Rally SYD-MEL MEL-SYD

Mike, it will be good to meet you! I'm driving to Gundagai then peeling off due to a prior commitment. I'm going to hand the baton (so to speak) to a Melbourne owner who's driving back to Melbourne. I don't think we need to worry about congestion. It's possible to drive between the Goulburn and...

    White vs Pearl White

Solid white and pearl white photographed side-by-side Hi Colina, I pondered the same question before getting my solid white Model S. I'm very happy with my choice. I took photos of solid white and pearl white next to each other, at the Sydney meet up in February, posted here: The Colour of...

    Now, to convince body corporate

Here's my experience of installing the standard high power wall connector (aka HPWC) in my garage in Sydney. This may help other people. I own my apartment in a block of 8 (like townhouses). I had no trouble in getting permission to install a wall connector. Tesla has a list of suggested...

    7.0 in Australia

I got v7.0 (2.7.77) this morning and it's amazing. Feels like driving the future. It worked really well on a regional road, on the freeway and tollways. I haven't had a chance to drive it much in the city yet. It's so amazing to have the car drive for you, and starts to feel quite normal. You...

    Tesla in Australia

Re Tesla in Brisbane: James told me yesterday that at this stage it's just him and a car in Brisbane. But I'm guessing it's only a matter of time until a showroom and service centre open in Queensland. I predict Tesla will take off in Brisbane, like it has in Sydney and Melbourne!

I don't think it matters whether you're on 3G or wifi. At least one Sydney person got v7 over 3G last night. I'm waiting with anticipation. Youtube vids of v7 look pretty cool. Also, you can see if someone ordered a Tesla using your referral code. It's worth having a look! The website is also where you can read general software release notes, and news bulletins from Tesla. For instance there's a new one 2 days ago about Tesla All Wheel Drive (Dual Motor) Power and...

P85D Arrived in Brisbane - Sad News

So sorry to hear that! I don't have any experience with this, but I'm sure Tesla will resolve it as soon as possible. It might take a couple of days to get a new wheel fitted, depending on whether they have a 21" grey wheel handy. Presumably it was a rim scratch in transit. Condolences on the delay!

The odd stuff - as noticed by us Aussies

I don't think Siri can control the car at all (but it would be cool if this were possible). But you can say "read me the last email from David Smith" or "send a text message to Sarah Wong saying I'll be there in 20 minutes" or "read me the text message". And of course navigation and music...

    New planned superchargers?

I heard that in the future there'll be one on the south coast of NSW, one near the NSW ski fields and one at another location near Sydney. I'm guessing north of Sydney. I think Canberra's a bit of a way off yet (not 2015). Sorry Canberra, but you would have superchargers to the north (Goulburn...

The Superchargers between Sydney and Melbourne are under construction and due to open by the end of the year. I doubt there'll be enough open by 7 Oct to drive Syd-Melb in one day unfortunately. But you should be able to do it by the end of the year.

Looking for feedback from Australian owners, particularly in Perth

I've had my S85 for 6 months and 11,000kms. I've been almost 100% happy with it. You definitely want the tech stuff. I do have air suspension and use it on steep driveways. You might be OK without it, as Dborn says. Rear wheel drive is fine. I don't think a D would be necessary for me...
