Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Yes agree, the stock brakes on the Plaid are very good for normal use. If using the car on the track the minimum you have to do is replace the DOT3 brake fluid with high performance DOT4 like Motul 660 or similar and better brake pads. Or upgrade to the track pack carbon brakes. But those brakes...

Looks perfect! Im in proccess ordering the same wheels (HCA162) for my 23 Plaid. Can you share the specs/Offset? Have to order from my local BC Forged dealer since I'm located in Norway. I think I will go for the following after checking a Offset calculator for 15mm more poke than stock...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

The batteries are not used. If they are the part number would have not ended with 00-A but example 01-A or 09-A. Tesla use the number from 01 to A1 on remanufactured batteries for remaining capacity. The part number on the latest 85 is also listed as new. Example.

Does a Tesla need to "warm up" before being driven with gusto?

For best performance the battery need to be warm. In the winter here in Norway the performance and regen is limited daily because the battery will be harmed if to much power is drawn or added when cold. Also the Drive unit(s) have oil. This is normal automatic gear oil like in gearboxes and...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Yes did write in my reply 75 is 350V vs 400 so why do I have to remember it? :p Still same motors, just need a little more ampere to get the same power and that is fuse/battery thing, not motors. The article is full of errors as TIppy did write. electrek.co is no way a trusted source. The 1...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

Why install new drive units for dual motor 75 when the drive units already used is the exact same as on 85D/90D/100D? They can do 0-60 same time on a heavier car. 75 rwd most likely have a new drive unit. 75D only SW and maybe new battery contactor/fuse similar to the computer controlled...

Not correct. P85 and P85+ have the same 0-60 time. Most likely a P85+ owner that have edited the wikipedia article :p

Pack Performance and Launch Mode Limits

Not correct. Horsepower at the wheels tells more about the performance than just a torque number. Is not like HP and torque are two different things. HP is result of torque x rpm. The rpm torque number alone the engine can make is just important specs for the guy that design the transmission and...

    P85D Ludicrous upgrade??

The best with Ludicrous is not only the added power and not so earlier power fade. But its much more powerful on lower SOC. When at 40% battery Ludicrous still have more power than the insane P85D at 100%.

    8.1 timing?

The MCU (17" screen) is the same old hw from 2012 on AP 2.0 cars too. So preAP and ap 1.0 cars will most likely still get the same GUI changes and new features that don't need the AP 2.0 hw. I find it strange Tesla still use the old Nvidia Tegra 3 (T33) in the MCU. I has less power than the...

    P100D on the Dyno....

I don't know the gear ratio on the Hellcat. But it was not possible to dyno the 510 hp Subaru STi I had before on a Dynapack in first gear. I tried, just got red screen and to much torque error ;) Engine Torque was 680nm or 501 ft lbs. Gear ratio on the Subaru was 1st: 3.636 and final drive...

    P100D on the Dyno....

Agree R.S. The math doesn't add up. They quoting "torque is what matter not hp" don't understand how it works. HP tells more about the performance. A torque number alone the engine can make at the shaft tells nothing without knowing gearing ratio and rpm. Its only important information for the...

Tesla Motors: PLEASE stop lying about specifications (60 to 75 upgrade)

On the data I did log from a new 85D and 90D it looks like the 4 kWh should be added. Example my own car a P85D reports 78 kWh available. 77-78 is the more normal capacity I do read on not so old 85 packs. The 79 was on a very late delivered 85D right before production did end. Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

Inverter is no issue. It stays cool. The battery cell temperature is also not often a issue. I think temperature on the fuse/contactor, stator and rotor is the main issues. I have done some logging driving 0-250 kph. Battery cell temp did only go from 30 to 34 degree Celsius. Inverter only from...

    P100D Easter Egg ?

Pre march 2016 P90DL did never deliver on the 10.9 1/4 time. Now I said it again :D I think the pre march 2016 P90DL have the old type battery and the 90 "v2" have the new improved type like the 100 package just with lower kwh. Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

Yes the P85, 85D ++ did all deliver more than originally specs. The P85D and V1 P90D did not deliver even close on the hyped performance. Still feel let down by Tesla after buying the P85D for its 691hp. But it was not even close to deliver the power and the 0-60 time was with the rollout hoax...

Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

If rollout is not important. Then show me a P100D 2.2 sec time to 60 mph like the Porsche 918 can do using 1 ft rollout ;) Tesla want almost $7000 for a ludicrous upgrade that improves the time as much as using rollout does. So dont say it does not matter.
  31. MuppetOwl

Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

As other have mention already both Drag times and TRC uses 1 ft rollout on the gtech/Vbox. Its a option to turn it on or off and they have it on to emulate a drag strip. So yes its cheating :) 0-60 is 0 zero, standstill to 60 mph and nothing else. With 1 ft rollout its 3-4 mph to 60.

Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

In the US 1 ft rollout look to be what many car magazine uses . Only a few like Consumer Reports and Edmunds dont use it. Model S P100D becomes world's fastest car from Dec update !

Tesla time is with 1 ft rollout. Porsche 918, Rimac and GTR is not. So the real time is 0.2 to 0.3 slower. Just a few US car manufactures including Tesla that use1 ft rollout cheating to brag about better times than the reality on 0-60mph or 0-100kph.

    P100D, 760HP and Performance Tests

Yes maybe. But it should be no issue to build a gearbox for a electric motor as is much more easy to adjust how much torque and how fast it does ramp up the power for the first 0.1-0.5 seconds. What often kill the gears is not the torque, its the start when the drive train have some lash/play...

    P100D, 760HP and Performance Tests

Rimac is much more powerful than the Roadster and Model S P100D and have two gears. P100D, 760HP and Performance Tests

Rimac use oil to cool the rotor and stator. Tesla only use water cooling for stator and only oil in the differential. Problem with water cooling is that coolant under normal pressure start to boil at around 125 degree Celsius. I think that is the reason Rimac use oil so it can cool the motors at...

    P100D, 760HP and Performance Tests

The limit is very often the motors if the battery is not very hot from supercharging or using battery max power. To be more specific its the stator that does overheat. P100D for Sale Now

0.2 sec more to 100 km/h is correct. Its like the 1 ft takes 0.2-0.3 sec (1 ft rollout) So the real 0-100 km/h time is closer 2.9-3.0 sec when measured the correct way in Europe where 0-100 using 1 ft rollout cheating never is used on official manufacturer numbers.

    4 BENT WHEELS!

Yes think Tesla manufacturer on different locations. The 21" wheels I got with my P85D delivered February 2015 had made in Mexico stamped. The rims was not good quality. Drag times drive Model S 0-60 mph in 2.65s

Have you Rolling start and 1 ft rolllout is not the same ;) 1 ft rollout you do a 0-60 but the vbox/gtech have a option to remove the time 1 ft takes to adjust for the limitation of the staging/timing equipment on a drag strip. So the time will normally be 0.3 sec faster than the real 0-60 time.
  48. MuppetOwl

    4 BENT WHEELS!

Both the 21 and 19 Tesla wheels is not so good quality. They are made of cheap aluminum and made in Mexico.

Drag times drive Model S 0-60 mph in 2.65s

Yes voltage wouldt increase. But voltage should have been lower than 4.2 on the new 90 pack if it really is a sw limited 100 kWh to 90 kWh like on the new sw limited 60/75 battery.
  50. MuppetOwl

Drag times drive Model S 0-60 mph in 2.65s

Latest 90 battery pack still read 4.2V at 100% soc via CANbus. So very likely not a 100 kWh package.
