Not all Superchargers are created equal...

D Do some reading on Supercharger A/B pairings. With the Supercharger network there are two stalls (A/B) that share a 120kW charger. If you are sharing the charger with it's sister stall the current is split between cars.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

So here is a question to the 'salvage repair group'. I know that TM will not even look at or sell you any parts for a VIN that is black listed. I also know that TM won't sell you and 'restricted' parts (basically anything HV and IC/MCU/Gateway related). My question is wether I could walk into a...

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

BTR, thanks again for this thread it has been truly inspiring, more to come on that for the group in the future. I am not sure what the EULA is like for the TM Service site and software, but it appears that you need a valid login to download and use the TM toolbox application. Can you let us...

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

That's great news! Do you just have a personal service account? Guessing you are in MA or at least have a MA address? Also without sharing any screenshots or littature can you outline the functionality? Do you know if this the same build that the SC uses? It would be nice to be able to program...

Elon: "I think it’s terrible to make a profit on service"

I agree that Elon and TM has been deceptive with the "we don't profit off of service" rhetoric. I understand that the techs and service advisors are paid a flat hourly rate and not compensated based on the amount of services or repairs rendered but $3k for a MCU and $7 for a plastic clip is a...

Picture of the charger inside the car under the passenger seat??

This is correct the charge port, battery, charger, and DU are all joined in the HVJB. When charging on AC the charge port AC power is routed into the charger and then the charger feeds the battery. When using a supercharger the charger is bypassed and the DC from the supercharger is feed right...

[NO LONGER AVAILABLE] Parting Out a 2015 85D - What Do You Need?

The pack part numbers are the same for the D and non D models. I.e. a pack from a P85D will work and fit just fine on an 85 and visa versa.

Not to derail the thread but while we are talking about the SAS compressor, did anyone notice a change in it's behavior post 7.0 (not sure what firmware ver). Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

I was bidding on the S70 above but did not win. I had an inspection done on the car and it was not salt flooded but it did have a pretty high water line. It was sad to see the temp tesla tags on the car, never did get it's permeant tags before the flood.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

I 100% believe that you can finish the car but think you will need a donor DU, battery, complete HV assembly, HVJB, and charger, along with ECU and other modules. I am a noob but I think the salt in the HV connections will give you nothing but problems, think you need to swap it all out :/ All...

  33. Sogorman

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

Correct I was just doing the math and 260VDC is about 0% SOC on a 60kwh pack and 297VDC is 0% SOC on a 85kwh pack. I'm sure someone will correct my calculations but 225 does sound like a problem.

DIY solution to deadening tire noise

I love the ContiSilents and have them on my S85. That being said the price and tread-wear (280) makes it a bit expensive to chew through them every 6 months.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

This is correct. Even tho they will give you a core discount for the old pack (I believe $2500) there is no way to buy a new pack without handing over your old one

    Retrofitting NextGen Seats

Say I was able to get my hands on some 'like new' next gen seats for my MS, do you think there is a snowballs chance in Phoenix, that TM would perform the upgrade / retrofit with my supplied seats??? I'm obviously happy to pay the install cost and labor.

Tesla won't perform any alignment/wheel/suspension work on car with aftermarket rims/tires

TM needs to figure out the fact that a car is a car and not a piece of art. We love our vehicles and like to change and modify them. If they continue down the road of not being able to touch anything non factory things are going to continue to get messy. This is a new level of craziness going on...

@artsci, it's getting near the end of my 21"s tread life. I would like to replace my Conti silent 21"s with Conti extreme contact (about 40% more tread life and 30% cheaper). How is the DIY foam holding up? Any updates?

@thecloud yes I assume @1208 was making a joke, and while I 'freaked out my wife' that lasted for about a second until she looked up and saw me standing in front of the car. I tend to leave the right thumbwheel set to climate temp... It's hot in Phoenix and until recently I would have to turn the AC to "LO" until the car was comfortable then adjust it back to 73 or 74. I will say that Tesla changed the ramp/response the fan and compressor in a firmware update a...
