New batteries could make electric cars last twice as long

Well, it's a good start that they don't have to operate the cells at 80C anymore. Still, I wonder if they got the power density of these their cells up to a useful level yet.

How many kWh can they squeeze into the Model 3...?

Your numbers are way off, even if you include "dramatic emphasization". There is more than 1 long range fully electric vehicle for ever 20 Million Tesla cars. Just look at electric buses with longer range. Tesla cars aren't going to outsell the Chevy Bolt 2000:1. Is Chevy going to sell less...

AFAIK the 10 kWh Powerwall cells are the same cells as those in the S/X Most cells for Tesla Energy including all PowerPack are MNC, not the NCA types used in Model S/X. So I doubt that much excess pre-silicon anode 18650 cell inventory will be used for Tesla Energy. That math doesn't check...

Seems like NVIDIA have lots of work to do. Cars literally popping in and out of detection right next to their car. And I don't see how their system with 100x more power consumption can compete with EyeQ4. Mobileye's free space algorithm seems much more accurate. They also explain that Lidar...

Tesla has produced three models, each with radical technology, Model 3 also??

Exactly. You want the wheels to be as light as possible to have an effective suspension. Alloy wheels were introduced to reduce wheel weight and improve heat conduction. Now you want to put a hot and heavy motor inside the wheels? Makes no sense in a performance car.

That assumes that Tesla won't increase their Model S pack capacities, which contradicts Musk's predicted capacity upgrades. Unless you mean pack cost reductions after accounting for capacity increases, in which case that's premature.

When will 100+ KWh battery become available?

Actually JB Straubel expects about a 40% volumetric energy density improvement for the Gigafactory/Model 3 packs compared to the first Model S packs. This is mainly due to a improvement in packaging efficiency with a bit of cell chemistry improvement (10-15%). So I expect a bump in capacity once...

Waterloo’s silicon battery technology promises a 40 to 60 per cent increase in energy

This is one of a series of attempts to stabilize high silicon percentage anodes using graphene and/or some other carbon structure, in this case polyacrylonitrile. As long as graphene remains prohibitively expensive, those advances are not market ready.

Is Faraday Motors The Apple Car?

I don't get why Apple would want Chinese investors, unless they want to deliberately obfuscate outsiders. Apple are siting on an enormous pile of offshore cash. So my guess is that this rules out Apple.

This is exactly true, as you can see in the discussion of the draft bill at earlier parts of this thread. Also each new or upgraded supercharging cabinet (counting as "public") would have to enable Combo 2 charging and be certified regularly.
