10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

I am just getting rid of the car. I'm never buying a Tesla again. I spent over $250K on Tesla's (P85D with ludicrous and Model X ludicrous which I luckily sold immediately because of other Tesla issues). They no longer care or support their customers. I love how the Tesla drove, but can't...

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

If you file a complaint with the nhtsa feel free to reference file #504485. I filed a complaint a few weeks ago especially after I realized the car was sometimes in a state where I was able to start driving but the reverse sensors were inactive. I have no idea what other issues may be...

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

The update was the NHTSA recall (eMCC fix). Tesla claims doing a government endorsed recall is my choice although they sent all impacted owners a letter telling them to get the recall - there was no warnings in the government issued recall. And they knew it could degrade the car but never...

    "Center Display Unavailable" message

I called the NHTSA phone number and filed a complaint - especially since Tesla admits it is due to performing the recall and said it was because of my "choice" to have the recall performed. Couldn't use the on-line forms as my VIN didn't work on the on-line form. They asked if I ever called...

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

Tesla admitted that there are issues with the eMMC recall and firmware update in an indeterminate number of vehicles and they've known about the issue for months. They still won't take care of it.

Not sure the effectiveness but found this. https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#index Also I am trying to tweet referencing Tesla and Elon Musk.

    2016 P100DL or new model 3 performance

My car has been tested by Tesla for the past 4 years for this. Every time they tell me it’s normal and now they just say it’s because the car is old. Tesla needs to introduce a disclaimer that the lifecycle of their cars is only a few years and after that it is at your own risk. No matter...

    "Center Display Unavailable" message

From talking to service this problem has been around for months. I did not getting much confidence that they actually will fix it as I believe they just expect us all to pay for the new mcu. They keep arguing the system gets slower over time versus owning up to the fact that they screwed up...

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

I was happy with the existing functionality with the cars functionality and due to the age of the car/ hardware wouldn’t care if my firmware was frozen. Right now I feel blackmailed into spending 2k upgrading the mcu. Car was perfectly functional until the eMMC recall was done - and the party...

    2016 P100DL or new model 3 performance

I would not touch a used Tesla unless you want to drive locally. See my thread about “old” Tesla models and being told it’s my fault for installing updates and getting the recall done (after the eMMC recall my car randomly takes 10+ minutes before I can go into drive - was told it’s just an...

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

I had no issues until the recall was done. Everything started the day I picked up the car.

10+ minutes to start my "old" tesla is just an inconvenience b/c I chose to do the eMMC recall and install firmware updates

If you have an older Tesla - be very wary about updating your firmware or even getting any recall work done. If something goes wrong, it apparently is the fault of the customer. Once Tesla updates any hardware, apparently your car is old and obsolete. I have a 2015 P85DL with about 75K...

    "Center Display Unavailable" message

I agree. I probably will start another thread to warn people about doing any recalls or firmware updates on older hardware. I was told the recall was my choice, and upgrading my firmware is also my choice; so the issues are my "fault" as my car is "old". Tesla said the car is totally...

    "Center Display Unavailable" message

My car is at tesla for a second time for the display unavailable error message within a week (and waiting 10 minutes before I could put the car in drive). I am about 4 weeks out from when the mmc recall work was done - at which time when we picked up the car had error messages about settings...

    "Center Display Unavailable" message

had the recall done on my car (2015 p85dl) and now get this message. Entering the car takes 5 or more minutes before it will even let me drive. Starts with hold brake for 30 servings messages then just wait and wait for it to eventually boot up and let me drive - and the center display error...

Tesla offers no guarantees or assurances on battery for Model S or X

I just don't trust them to throttle the new cars down the line. The "no assurances" and the new cars "should be better" as they age does not give me confidence. The fact they just tell you the battery is healthy from some diagnostic but won't share with you the report or any regression...

Tesla offers no guarantees or assurances on battery for Model S or X

Thanks. Spending 50% of the time supercharging on road-trips is ridiculous on cars 3-5 years old and reasonable mileage (when they were delivered charging twice as fast). Not sure I would buy another Tesla as I have no trust in the company. I also had a X but sold it right when I got it due...

Tesla offers no guarantees or assurances on battery for Model S or X

I lost 10-15m range at some point also- I am not so bothered by that if my car would supercharge quickly. Was that also messed with? (my super-charging has sucked since at-least 2018)

Tesla offers no guarantees or assurances on battery for Model S or X

I own a 2015 Tesla P85DL (ludicrous upgrade) with 65000 miles. I supercharge less than 10 times a year and have trip charged even less. In 2018 I took one of my first road trips and had supercharging speeds dropping into the 30's kwh range very quickly (only supercharging to about 70%). I...

    1st really cold weather drive

The past week it was ~20-30 degrees in Seattle area. I was always well above 500kw/h (many times I am over 600 and 700 kw/h and for one short drive was actually showing well over 1000kw/h for some reason). I was lucky to get over 100 miles out of a 90% charge on my P85D (rated range once...

    Phatom Drain when Cold

The cold absolutely kills my range. Past week it was ~20-30 degrees and I was getting ~45% of my rated range with energy usage consistently above >500kw/hour. At those temperatures, I barely make it over 100 miles with a 90% charge on my P85D. I have range mode enabled and am just running...

Tesla Model X for Sale. Will be ready at Tesla Seattle this week!

Tesla Model X for Sale. Will be ready at Tesla Seattle this week!

Our loaded Tesla Model X P85D with Ludicrous and every option except 22"" wheels is currently being prepped in Seattle. We decided we are not happy with our color choice (Titanium Metalic/ Tan Leather) and want to sell this one and reorder. We have a very short window where we can change the...

Act Fast: Loaded Brand New Tesla Model X P90DL (Being delivered Friday!)

I am going to try and make this simpler and clearer. The car is for sale for $5,000 over *my* cost. Option 1) Car is titled directly to purchaser and they take delivery directly from Tesla. Purchaser pays me $10,000 ($5,000 covers the deposit already applied to the purchase price) and...

Act Fast: Loaded Brand New Tesla Model X P90DL (Being delivered Friday!)

As RacerX points out, based on my out of pocket costs it is about a 5K premium. If I can title the car directly to the purchaser rather than resell it, I will drop the price to 151K.

Act Fast: Loaded Brand New Tesla Model X P90DL (Being delivered Friday!) I ordered a Model X P90DL in early January. After seeing the car in person, we decided we want to configure the car differently but it was too late to change our order. The car is at the service center and being...

    Firmware 7.1

Just got 7.1. On multi-lane highways, should the cars be rendered until you pass them or is it correct that they disappear when they are about 5 feet in front of you? Also, how well do your side-sensors work? Most of the time, I get no indication that there is a car on the right of me (the...

Vampire drain after fully charged and still plugged in.

Is it normal for a small amount of drain after the car is fully charged (but left plugged in)? I have about 1700 miles and am averaging 424wh/mi. I have tried to "baby" it and don't believe I have ever gotten below 400 over an entire day. I do have a 1 1/2 mile 850ft climb to my house, but even before i start the first climb home I am usually already over 400wh/ mile. Guessing...

My Tesla Transformation - Radar and Laser Integration

Yes - it is exactly for allowing firmware updates (they rewired the push button from the control unit to the armrest location). Systems Unlimited made it clear that that button could not be "buried". That is why I have two power buttons - the toggle is a universal kill switch (turns on/off both...

My Tesla Transformation - Radar and Laser Integration

I have had jammers and radar detectors in my car for over 10 years. The value is less about dollars spent and more about the comfort that I am able to fully enjoy my car. Unfortunately moving violations cost much more than just the fine so I view the equipment as an additional insurance...

My Tesla Transformation - Radar and Laser Integration

A quick follow-up. Just tested my install against a laser gun (I believe it was a prolaser III - the most common gun in Washington State but also not the "toughest" to jam). I was jamming all the way to the gun with no punch-through both in the front and the rear. We tried targeting both...

My Tesla Transformation - Radar and Laser Integration

It is a customized factory mirror so it auto-dims. Systems Unlimited outsourced the work to radar-mirror (they apparently are the industry standard for radar-integrated mirrors). I am not worried about the visibility of the jammers in the rear (you can't see the front ones at all unless you...

My Tesla Transformation - Radar and Laser Integration

I picked up my P85D two weeks ago. All my cars have radar detectors and laser jammers. For the Tesla, I wanted to do it right and have them perfectly integrated into the car. My work was done by Systems Unlimited in Bellevue, WA and I highly recommend them. I have never seen such a cleanly...

Elon discusses showing Tesla Pricing as reflective of annual gasoline savings

Much of that gas savings will be eaten up by more frequent tire replacements - especially with the 21" tires - and higher insurance costs. And servicing my BMW is cheaper since it includes 4 years. I extended it to 7 years of service for $1600 total. None of this impacted my decision to buy...

Exec Rear Seat APP for Radio Controls?

I have the rear exec seats and am waiting for the app. This was the answer I got two days ago when I inquired about the app: "Currently the app you are referring to with regard to controlling the rear seats, media and roof is not available. It appears to be an app that will be released in the...

    Executive seats: a quick review

I agree I would expect power outlets but I did not see any in the rear (was hoping there would be). Executive seats: a quick review

I have the executive seats and was told there will be an app to control them (and media). No ETA was given. When the app is released, I plan on keeping an old IPhone 4 in the car for passengers (having USB ports added to the rear console for charging).

Front Parking Camera w/ Auto Pilot hardware

Just picked up my P85D. Nervous about how low the front is and that the front parking sensors seem useless for approaching a curb when pulling straight into a parking spot. Have been driving an SUV for a few years so this has not really been a concern; although my SUV had front cameras) Is...
