I am selling a set of four 245/45/19 Pirelli Sottozero winter tires on Tesla OEM 19" rims that fit a model S. They were used for 2 seasons and have less than 10,000 miles on them. The tread depth is 7/32. The rims have zero scratches on them. Asking for C$1200. You must pick them up from my...
But they have my wheels and tires. I don't even think four 21" wheels/tires would fit in the MS to haul somewhere else. When I bought the car I was told tire changes were a valet service from my house (I live 5 minutes away from the SC). I guess they left out the (in a month) part.
Very annoying.
I called my service centre in Toronto, Canada today to book an appointment to install my summer wheels/tires and they told me the first available appointment is April 18th (today is March 16th). Are they kidding? One month and two days?!
This is not acceptable for a car that costs nearly $150K.
And before it dies (which I would really like it to) may I remind everyone that I am a VERY happy Tesla owner. I love my car and I love the company and I love the employees. I just can't make my wife feel the same way.
Anyway ... she got her Cayenne today and she's happy and I am happy that...
I doubt you'll get a chuckle. It is all a matter of volume and experience. Porsche has been building engines and cars for a LONG time and not innovating all that much. The result is a more reliable product at the expense of innovation. Tesla is the opposite ... They are hyper-innovating at...
The wheel/tires you see in the picture are the standard on an "S". 19" all-season. I am going to look into snow options on Monday. Hakka R2s if I can find them in the right size.
That is why we bought a Porsche and not a Mazda. I am pretty sure she'll be OK. As much as I love my Tesla, I have to say that I've never had a serious problem with a high-end German car.
Anyway ... it is her choice and there is not much I can do about it at this point. Meanwhile, today I pulled...
They are SO antiquated. It killed me to write a $100K cheque for a car that feels like it is 100 years old. Once you drive a Tesla you can't go back (except for my wife). But as the saying goes ... A happy wife is a happy life.
Delivery on Tuesday ...
I did not hit a pothole. The road was smooth. The car broke down in the richest neighbourhood in Toronto (The Bridle Path). They don't allow potholes there.
It is all spilled milk at this point. The car broke down 5 minutes away from my house so it wasn't a hardship to return. It's a $150K car and I wanted to be there anyway to make sure it got towed properly. It was really my decision to return to the scene and make sure the car got loaded onto the...
I was really upset at the time it happened but that was a very emotional reaction to being in the middle of an intersection with my son with no power or heat. Looking back at the events, I think Tesla did everything that they could under the circumstances. It was after working hours. I am not...
In my mind, a hybrid is almost the the worse of both world. You have twice as many things that can break and lack the elegance of a pure electric or pure ICE. We decided to get a Cayenne S. Picking it up on Tuesday.
***** UPDATE *****
Thanks to everyone who's contributed and for some of feelings of concern. I thought I'd give everyone an update and straighten out some of the facts that may have gotten twisted in the thread.
Timeline:
Tues 5:15:
1. My wife drives my son to swimming practice and returns...
I am certain Tesla will have no trouble selling the car to someone who can appreciate it (and possibly put up with it) more than my wife. If you order a P85D in Canada today you'll get it in Late March. I am sure there are a hundred people out there that want to skip the line.
I really wish I...
She's had diesel cars for the past 8 years (BMW X5 and an ML350). She fills up once every 2 weeks at a full service station near our house. Her last car, ML350, had a 1000km range with a full tank.
I get bored of my cars very quickly. I've had 8 ICE cars in the last 8 years. CLS63, C63...
BMW and Mercedes are not an experiment. We've owned many of them over the years with generally very good results. Yes there is annoyances here and there but nothing in the category of sudden catastrophic engine failure.
Doesn't start and shuts down in the middle of an intersection are two different things. If the Tesla didn't start in our garage you wouldn't even be hearing about it.
My wife is not concerned with her car not starting. She is extremely concerned with her car shutting down suddenly and unexpectedly.
I've had lots of issues with cars but none that were in the category of a catastrophic engine failure that left me stranded in an intersection with no heat.
That is not a fair statement. No one twisted my arm to buy them. I REALLY wanted this experiment to work. I REALLY wanted my wife to believe in the electric car and enjoy it. I wrote a check for $300K+TAX. I bought and installed chargers. I drove a ****** rental for 3 months to make all this...
i don't know what is wrong with my wife's car. Nobody from the SC called me yet.
It it is a moot point now. My wife is adamant that she does not want to drive a Tesla after yesterday's incident.
The next time you get stranded in -12C weather in the middle of an intersection with your 10 year old son and have to ask him to push the car with you then you won't find my action extreme. I am not sure how this will work either but i will find out and tell you.
I said i won't be reordering...
Tesla service told us to do it when the tow arrived. The tow truck driver was clueless on how to release the emergency brake.

MrElbe ... do yourself a VERY big favour and cancel. My cars have less than 200km each. I am going to try to return them today and get my money...
Again, as others have noted, it doesn't look like the 12V battery is the problem on my car. It is most likely the contractors which are under active recall right now. I am not sure why I would have faulty contractors on a car that was delivered just a few days ago. But then again I am not sure...
Hey guys ... sorry for the bad news. One of my new P85D died on day 2 of driving with only 191km on ODO. Here is the story:
http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/40527-My-2-day-old-P85D-suddenly-died-in-the-middle-of-an-intersection
Hope everyone else has better luck than me.
Agreed Stevezzzz ... But why is this still happening? And how do I know that my other car isn't going to breakdown too? Does Tesla acknowledge that it has a problem with the traction pack?
Yes ... the door handles and 4-way flashers still work with a dead 12V although the door handles do not auto-present. You have to push them to open the door.
I have read this thread and it describes EXACTLY what happened to me. Thank you so much for posting this. I guess I will be needing a new battery pack? Are these things usually in stock?
Hard acceleration no ... more like spirited acceleration. May be 50% of the pedal travel. The car was in sport mode.
Yes. I heard a clunk that seemed to come from the front somewhere immediately before the car died.
The music is Slacker "Today's hits". I guess my wife picked when she last drove...
Eli has already called me. He was instrumental in guiding the tow truck driver and I to get the car into neutral. It wasn't trivial to figure it out. Tesla has also delivered a loaner to my house.
This was my wife's car that broke down. I just happened to be driving it to pick up our son from...
Finally got the car towed. By the time the truck showed up the car was COMPLETELY dead. No screens no nothing. We had to take the nose cone off and jump the 12V battery. The displays came up but the car would not shift out of park. Then we managed to release the brake by selecting "TOW MODE"...
Well ... my short range brand new P85D with 191km (120mi) died suddenly in the middle of an intersection (completely stopped moving) on -12C weather. Even the heater stopped working. My 10 year old son and I had to get out and push it to the side. Called my DS who called roadside assistance who...
