Ride quality vs other luxury cars

Why? The price is often in the 80-100k region (often more). Why shouldn't you compare against other cars in that same price range? Regardless of whether it's called a premium car vs luxury car or not, its fair to compare against luxury cars in the same price range. People should know what...

USB Mouse Allows Kids in Back Seat to Control Music...

Out of curiosity, would a phone or tablet connected via Bluetooth solve most of your concerns? Couple it with Spotify/google play music/Pandora/whatever, and anyone can control the music easily. This assumes you have all your content available digitally of course, which isn't always true.

    Handles still an issue?

Huh, had no idea. Good to know, thanks!

    Handles still an issue?

I have a Sept 2014 S, and handles occasionally won't extend on their own, requiring me to unlock via the key button, but I've never had issues with the door not opening or the doors opening on their own.

Germany’s Auto Motor & Sport calls Model S sound system “extraordinary"

I personally found there was a huge difference between the stock and the hifi sound systems in the Tesla. Back when I was test driving (in May), I did a back to back sound system test, using my bluetooth paired phone, and the difference in quality was very noticeable, especially on the mids and...

    Cold weather fun

Had that exact same thing happen to me yesterday here in Seattle (hi neighbor!) although a bit of bumping got the drivers side open without too much issue. On top of which, the side view mirrors were stuck in the folded position. Needed to bang off some ice and press the fold/unfold button...

    Remote Activation of Front/Rear Defrosters

How long does the climate control remain on without someone in the car after turning it on remotely? In the past for me its turned off automatically after what seemed like 10 mins, but perhaps that's because the car wasn't plugged in?

    Remote Activation of Front/Rear Defrosters

Definitely on my wish list here in Seattle. I'm hopeful they'll add it eventually.

Speed assist for older model S?

Excellent idea (I believe Google does something similar for their traffic data). Heck, just keep it internal and use it as a competitive advantage.

Is Autopilot that much better than Competitors?

Is Tesla really still the only car company with over-the-air updates? I was under the impression newer Mercedes vehicles had this with their Mbrace technology?

    75% Insurance Increase

That's interesting. I wonder if that has to do with the regenerative braking, and the fact that although you're slowing down substantially your brake lights aren't on (I think? I'm never behind my own car). It's occurred to me that other cars may not be prepared for my car substantially slowing...

My suspension/sensor wish: automatic height control

That is such a Knight Rider move. Love it.

Wired - What Tesla Needs to Fix Before It Gives Us a New Model S

I've been noticing that same issue. It seems like the streak is only where the wiper arm presses on the wiper itself, but given its at eye level if definitely bugs me. Would be curious what your SC does. I was there recently to get the cup holders installed and asked them to look at it but...

My suspension/sensor wish: automatic height control

Hah, yes, that is exactly what I was hoping for. Would be a great addition to the Model S.

My suspension/sensor wish: automatic height control

One of the reasons I didn't bother getting air suspension is that I honestly don't want to have to bother to remember to raise/lower the suspension to get past obstacles. Now that radar and cameras are being used for sensors it occurs to me that one if the big missing features might be possible...

Missing HW for future autopilot SW

This is one reason I'm not too upset about having picked up my model s just before they added the new autopilot hardware. The sensors they've announced are great, but by no means are the end all be all of the sensors that can be used for autonomous driving. Just consider the sensors on Google's...

    Textile or leather?

I do, but my dog stays in the trunk and I keep a towel over the rear seats to protect against his drool and minimize the fur on the back of the seats. Its definitely easier to clean leather but you should be able to get the textile clean with a bit of vacuuming (assuming the dog itself was clean).

how many kept your old ICE around as a backup? And how long before selling it?

Im curious how many are in the same boat as me, where out of an abundance of caution (and perhaps range anxiety), you kept your previous ICE around when buying the S. And, for those of you that did, how long did you have the S as your daily driver before deciding to commit and sell the ICE? I'm...

How long does the rear defroster take to work for you?

Been really enjoying my Model S for the past month I've had it, but now summer has left Seattle and the morning mists have started arriving, completely blanketing my car in dew (I have to park outside for now). I'm kind of missing my rear windshield wiper on my old car. Ideally the rear...

Speed Assist and Lane Departure Warning

I for one am curious if this is going to result in a hike in prices. Naturally that wouldn't affect those that already ordered, who therefore may get some perks for free (or maybe disabled by software?), but I somewhat expect the upcoming D announcement to include new pricing.

    Adaptive cruise control

Does anyone have pictures of the new sensors on the front of the car?
