I used #6 THHN for ground as well. I also has a same type of wire for neutral as spare just in case I need it since my path from my panel box to my garage is long and hard to route so I had them done one time only.

Soft reboot your car (park and press and hold on to the 2 steering scroll buttons) . Then drive to see if problem goes away. Did fix it on mine! Good luck!
