Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Octopus is saying they have lost connection with my vehicle but I know they haven’t .
Octopus is still generating charge schedules and controlling the charging.
I am going to leave it until it stops working as it sounds like lots of people had issues re-connecting and it’s a lease vehicle so...
Tesla app and octopus app is pretty glitchy at the moment.
The schedules aren’t updating in the app but octopus is controlling the charging on the Tesla.
I’ve just switched the charging off in the Tesla app multiple times, even though a schedule doesn’t show in the octopus app but would...
Looks like octopus are having server issues this morning!
I have lost the device tab as well.
10.51am edit : Just deleted the app, and re-installed, on my phone and the device tab is back and working
Anyone having charging issues?
Car has had a schedule since 10am last night until 7am, hasn’t charged at all.
if I disable smart charging still won’t charge. It was playing up yesterday when it was plugged in.
I remember there were a few posts a while ago when schedules weren’t getting any...
I plugged in today at just after 11am and had a slot from 11am to 4.30pm and then from 8.30 until 4am.
I don’t think the car charged at all. I got SWMBO to unplug And plug the car back in, whilst I was out, and I stopped the charge straight away.
checked 2 mins later and it had started charge as...
email from octopus, last week, about my export meter
Hi ******,
Thank you for your email.
So the smart team let us know that we can’t add the export on currently due to the Export MPAN not being recognised as Export. They have sent off a flow to hopefully get Ecoes updated so we can then...
You apply through the website I think, it is a while since I got mine, but they are very good.
if you have no joy I’ll try and find the link for you.
i think you’ll do ok in the savings session especially if you can force discharge your batteries.
I’ll email octopus about my export man as id...
It’s looking like it could be a good addition to go with export.
looks like you’ll get free electric before the savings session and if you export during the saving session you get paid even more.
i just need my export meter up and running :p
Does anyone know how long it takes to enrol the export MPAN so I can start exporting.
I’ve had the “we’re working on it” for 6 days and it says it should only take a couple of days.
That was my thinking as well, I could probably even get 2 discharges some days but not sure how good that would be for our batteries 😁
We have 5kw of panels and have generated 3.6 MWh in our first year, April/May were our best months with a south facing array.
we haven’t used any gas for a year...
i didn’t really look into flux as I was happy having zero/minimal cost and full batteries in the summer. In the winter we are heavy users and thought IO is the best for our heavy use. Octopus export means I can charge the batteries and discharge any not needed to subsidise our winter usage. I...
I was watching my usage when I blew, what I thought at the time was an 80amp fuse but turned out to be a 60 amp, and I was pulling 19- 21kw from the grid for over half an hour before it blew.
hot water 3.2kw
car charger 7kw
UF heating 8-10 kw
everything else 0.5kw
I did a bit of research and...
It was very tight, but the 60 amp fuse was hidden behind some boxing and national grid bypassed the old fuse and upgraded it to 100 amp.
quite a bit of work involved and on a portable generator for a few days.
it was pretty dangerous, what the previous owners had done in terms of electrics, as...
Just checked our usage, and we used 33 kWh more in January than December 3.355 MWh and 3.322 MWh.
Although as this was all new to me batteries, IO etc I wasn’t using everything efficiently and i was constrained, on usage, during the off peak hours as I had blown the mains fuse when I had...
Thanks Pete, I have an export MPAN but didn’t put it in the box as didn’t read the letter properly, whilst I was putting all the info in the application page.
Whereabouts in the app would it be?
on my phone app I have usage and that just says my 2 tariffs, IO GO AND octopus tracker for gas...
I’ve been with octopus since I got my first EV 3 1/2 years ago and applied for export octopus, as an existing customer, earlier this week.
I received an email from octopus welcoming me as a customer yesterday 🤷🏻♂️, nothing has changed on my account but I’m hoping that export is set up but can’t...
our house is a reasonable size and 90 years old plus my wife isn’t happy unless it’s 22°c+.
when she says it’s chilly and the thermostat says 23.9 what can you do 🤷🏻♂️
anyone that can take a hot water bottle to bed when it’s 25c outside is always a bit chilly 😁
I did have old radiators, which...
Signed up for outgoing yesterday 😁. With my current system I don’t think I would export that much especially when it’s colder but the summer should be quite lucrative hopefully.
it will be interesting to see how I go with the extra batteries but I used 3.5 mWh per month in the coldest months...
I have 2 ASHPs so our batteries are always set to charge overnight.
The givenergy app is very easy to adjust.
the only shortfall in our system install is the inverter is not fast enough bit I hope to rectify that with the 2 new batteries and inverter.
the inverter is quick enough for the solar...
I don’t have powerwalls but GivEnergy batteries and will be increasing our storage to 39kwh next month.
IO works very well with my batteries but why not just use the off peak hours as it’s longer and cheaper.
i cannot see how you cant get this tariff to work for you. Are the powerwalls not...
It has been slower to react recently and the app doesn’t react as quickly as it used to.
However whin I plug in I make sure I have my schedules and don’t let the car charge until they show up. Sometimes there are within mins sometimes they take a while. I Normally find if I switch IO off, in...
Is anyone having issues getting schedules in the app to update?
I’ll plug the car in and set the app up and the schedule doesn’t change when I refresh the page but I get a notification with a new schedule. Been similar since yesterday afternoon.
When I change the settings to stop charging...
The schedules haven’t been as prompt over the past week, although this morning it was much quicker.
it could be my mobile and Wi-Fi coverage though as that has been pants, locally, recently 😡
I have 2 x 9.5 GE batteries, solar etc and IO works very well.
My electric use is pretty high and the extra off peak slots are very handy. I also have a Rolec charger.
My plan is to double my storage in Nov as the off peak slots mean solar is not as good a return as the majority of our electric...
The beauty of IO is it’s flexibilty as you can chose when you want your schedule, so if you want a schedule in the morning just request a schedule early morning and the time you want to leave, eg 8am And you should get a schedule until 8am.
You don’t have to charge during the off peak hours, as...
Have you pulled the page down to refresh it?
sometimes it gives you a schedule from a previous setting and hasn’t updated, maybe adjust the time to 5am and see what happens
When it isn’t plugged in, it seems to be fine.
its only been happening at home and when connected to the charger. I did leave it connected to the charger but disabled in the octopus app and it still drained a bit but not sure it was as much.
More investigation needed I think but the only way to...
I have had a few draining issues recently when the car is plugged in but no scheduled charge overnight and I lose quite a bit of range.
I left it unplugged last night and range had not changed overnight, so I still think there is an issue when the car doesn’t charge using a schedule overnight.
The app has been playing up a bit this week.
I had a lot of issues connecting to the app albeit it may have been my mobile signal/Wi-Fi connection and I was out of the UK but the car was at home.
it got better a few hours later
Could not agree more. If you have solar and batteries then IO average should be 7.5ish. That’s tough for any tariff to beat and I have ASHP‘s as well.
3500 kWh in winter at 7.5 is very handy. Tend to use the free charger down the road, for longer runs, for all 3 EV’s.
It is proper draining, I lost about 20 miles Wednesday night to Friday morning, car was plugged in all that time but not charging.
I had to charge it when I woke up as I needed at least 60 miles and it dropped from 76 to 52
Is anyone getting the battery drain currently?
I’ve noticed the battery losing 6-10 miles overnight recently when I’m at home.
Last night the battery was at 61m, when I woke up it was 56m.
I had it plugged in but I had disabled charging in the octopus app.
I was in London this week and when I...
I’ve just done this, this morning. I was fixed until September on IO but checked the IO tariff for my postcode online, it then took me to a page to download octopus on the appstore( which I was already logged in to). I opened the app via the webpage, it asked all the usual questions, car...
That’s effectively what I do with my GivEnergy batteries if I don’t want them charging the car or being used to heat the hot water etc overnight…….
I fail to see why people get so upset when they lose 2-3% battery etc
IO, to me, works brilliantly
