    Hydrogen vs. Battery

No they haven't, I have gotten 2 extremely disrespectful messages in my inbox, telling me to keep my mouth shut. My guess is this is why I have that red rating under my name. They know who they are and I don't need to name names, people haven't been objective. I won't participate in the thread...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

With all due respect JRP, do you want me to treat you like an adult or a child. If you want me to respect you, then use proper arguments. Caldreamin used an ammonia plant explosion from 1985 as an argument for the safety of hydrogen cars, it's fear mongering and I won't participate in that...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Relative to diesel, gasoline is quite flammable, that's one of the reasons we drove diesels in the army. As far as hydrogen cars exploding, you guys need to give it a rest with the fear mongering, it's petty and childish to see people like this. Most Tesla drivers I know aren't like this at all.

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

You can't just use random accidents involing hydrogen and start scare mongering people. SAE has a journal and has been detailing HFC safety measures since 2006, at least quote from there for accurate information. What you're doing is like me saying Teslas are unsafe and posting a scary picture...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Hydrogen tanks are relatively safe. If you think hydrogen is unsafe, you haven't seen accidents with regular gasoline yet, the reason many vehciles in the army we used are diesel is because gasoline is so dangerous when car is being hit by a pothole every 5 minutes. Hydrogen usually doesn't...

Met a test team from Audi at the Gilroy Supercharger!

I believe your story 100%. But I don't think these people were honest, people from Audi have no reason to lie or pretend like they're something they're not. Some people like to play coy to be more interesting than they are. - - - Updated - - - 5 of them being German? nah, prolly toursist...

Met a test team from Audi at the Gilroy Supercharger!

Ok, maybe 5 engineers flew over from Germany on a secret mission to film Tesla's supercharger, all the while Audi has said they're not interested in EV right now. Call me crazy, but it makes absolutely no sense. - - - Updated - - - You tell me, using EPA data is completely inaccurate since...

Met a test team from Audi at the Gilroy Supercharger!

Audi engineers have no issues telling they're from Audi. They also have the largest test track in the world from VW. Whoever they were, they weren't from Audi, they don't go on secret james bond missions. - - - Updated - - - Audi doesn't believe the time is ripe for them yet for full EV...

    BMW i3

What I find interesting about the i3 is that it is getting way more attention than the Mercedes B class electric. I wish I knew who said it, maybe it was a random person or maybe BMW. The fact different looking EV get more attention than refreshes of ICE cars. I think part of the attention the...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

That's pretty much the basis of Toyota's argument. They classify HFC and BEV by required power The argument revolves around where you start seeing the benefit of hydrogen over lithium. Lithium is not feasable for something like back-up power, hydrogen is, it is commonly used as a green back...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

The idea that it will end up in a technology surpassing the other into irrelevance, that fear it will happen like that, might be why some companies are so reluctant to support either one. I don't think it will happen like that, at least not overnight. But the idea it will, means that the...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Tesla, Toyota, they both have good engineers. They both took a side in a way. Then there's all the European car manufacturers who refuse to pick sides and are experimenting with both technologies. The moment you start to champion one technology over the other, you start to lose sight of the big...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Debunked by whom, another blogger or an actual car engineer. You can go back and forth with random bloggers all day. On the internet, everyone has an opinion. If an experienced engineer with experience in the field debunked him, I would be interested to read. If it's another self appointed...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

The funny thing is that both these people have a book to sell. Everyone who wants to sell a book suddenly has an opinion. And many times the people writing the books aren't involved anymore in the industry to begin with, which means their opinion is often outdated.

    BMW i3

Right. It would make no sense to put a bigger ICE engine in the i3. The i3 has a very specific function, it's a city car, it's not meant to drive half accross the country, it's meant to give you a high-end car in city package. It's the BMW version of the the leaf. You'll see most people still...

    Audi A3 e-tron

Right, Audi makes PHEV and don't believe in EREV. They will make a BEV down the line but right now their focus is on PHEV. They feel the ICE engine has to directly power the wheels, and I agree with them, an EREV like the Volt has a certain amount of overhead that Audi doesn't agree with. They...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

As an alternative to fossil fuel, hydrogen is currently the best solution there is to store energy as back up power. The only other feasable way to store non-fossil fuel is a water basin, often used by nuclear power plants, but that's not feasable for a hospital for example. So as far as non...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Without hydrogen production, a third of the people on this forum wouldn't be alive. You needto make hydrogen gas to make Ammonia, without Ammonia you would have a fraction of the world's food supply we have now. Ammonia is why crops grow the way they do, it's why farmers have fertilizers. So...

    BMW i3

You can play with the colors here: BMW i3 : 360° view they're just color options like any other car, but Tommolog said he wrapped the car, so he did the coloring in a red wrapping, below it his original black I think it looks good in red, BMW should offer it, or offer some more colors

    BMW i3

The i5 is supposedly the family sedan, or maybe coupe version of the i3. The thing is, I don't think it's going to be a pure EV, I think it's going to be a hybrid. It's not so much that BMW or Audi or Porsche or <fill in whatever brand> can't make a larger EV, they have massive research...

    BMW i8

What the MPG is on sports cars like the i8 is really hard to determine. The reason is the regenerative breaking. The Porshe 918 is a hybrid that never has to be charged, the massive breaking on a sports car recharches the car. In the interview the porsche guy says the electric engine never...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

I wish I had time to read that all, but it seems one sided and it has the quote from Musk which I disagree with on principle, both technologies can coexist. Regarding hydrogen. You can always look at things both ways. Salt water electrolysis is used to produce hydrogen and at the same time it...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

The cost argument probably doesn't account for the subsidies. The question is, what impact will it have on EV once they are removed, same questions can be asked for hydrogen too of course. Subsidies for EV / Hydrogen will eventually disappear, as they have in some countries already, either...

    BMW i3

I've noticed that the looks depend a lot on the color. Some people like the shape, some want a more unified shape. The orange and blue editions have the distinct shape, the black edition has the unified look, I think it looks way better in black to be honest. The black edition is simply one of...

I'll need an explanation on how petrolium is related to hydrogen, because I think it's made from gas or electrolysis. I don't think any part of the process invovles petrolium.

Tesla, Toyota project exposed corporate culture clash

I think what I find worrysome is the friction at Tesla to acknowledge hydrogen cars as viable, and calling the tech itself "bs". The article mentions Musk ridicules hydrogen. Exactly what benefit does either Musk or Tesla have by ridiculing tech. We all know hydrogen cars work by now, unless...

Somewhat thoughtful article comparing Tesla Model S and BMW i3 and the two companies

I don't know why people keep comparing the Tesla S to the BMW i3 in articles. She didn't just compare it to the Model 3, she's directly comparing the i3 to a model S. They're completely different market segments. An i3 is a city car for $40,000, a model S is a luxury sedan that costs twice as...

Elon musk's reactions towards BMW and Toyota.

It's the way they laugh at BMW that doesn't sit right with many BMW owners I know. Elon musk's reactions towards BMW and Toyota.

There's a number of reactions from Tesla that make me wonder if Elon Musk is overplaying his cards. Tall trees catch a lot of wind. He laughed at BMW when they brought out their i3. The i3 is selling very well now. He laughed at Audi and Toyota with their hydrogen cells, he called hydrogen...
