OEM All-Weather Mats - anyone else dealing with this and is there an easy solution besides returning?

Hahahaha - and great idea, will do! Maybe I should be wearing Vans instead of Nike as well :)

OEM All-Weather Mats - anyone else dealing with this and is there an easy solution besides returning?

Like the fit and style of OEM, but for whatever reason the mats are slippery when dry (haven’t used yet when wet outside). I usually am wearing rubber sole sneakers, but that doesn’t help. Anyone else experiencing this and is there an easy way to fix without returning? Will whatever is coating...

2023 Model Y - Tesla trunk Storage bins not compatible?

Yes, I bought in February for my Fremont built MYP and had the same experience. Once you figure out the orientation :) the drivers side fits fine. The passenger side needs to be slightly bent in the corners (I later cut the rubber on these corners with scissors, which was: easy, didn’t create...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

I just expected “more” (again, my first rodeo with Tesla’s invester call, although have been on other calls before and understand its purpose). This “more” is based on previous posters, especially those who were waiting for this call specifically before deciding to purchase. Not sure those...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

This was my first Investor Day…seemed like a big “nothing burger.” I was expecting some answers to some of these burning questions…was this the normal outcome or was it tamped down a bit?

    What’s included with delivery?

Yes, I contacted service and they provided a few weeks ago. I know it’s a MD law, but not sure if it’s required by law at delivery in VA. If not, you can order online, of course.

WTT: 2023 MY 21" Uberturbines for 19" Gemini - DMV metro area

DC metro area - my MY Performance with 21" Uberturbines has 201 miles to date. Looking to trade for 19" Gemini (with similar miles), and prefer straight swap with no need for any TMPS efforts. Will want cash my way. Thanks!

    Ready to talk tires?

Thanks Buddha. I just wonder if I am ok with 21” why wouldn’t I want to save a buck or two and get the equally attractive (IMO) 20” blacks or the just fine looking 19” Gemini’s. What do folks with 21” say about the reason they stay the course, or what do former 21’s say about the reason they...

    Ready to talk tires?

I have a 2023 MYP with 21” Ubers (201 miles to date). Seeing a bunch of folks here changing out to different configurations. Can someone help me and summarize what they feel is the best, and why? I’m looking not stay with a set year round as I’m in mid-Atlantic (not too snowy). Usually...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Yup, don’t worry about depreciation or resale value when you buy a new car. If you buy and hold, depreciation is nominal between options, and resale levels out (unless it’s an investment asset, which Tesla is not). Some financial folks smarter than myself say if you buy a new car, try to hold...
  11. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

I would definitely bake in big depreciation on any new car, as that’s what cars do in normal markets. Two ways to help new buyers sleep at night if you are really concerned about a loss on paper: 1. Keep for 10 years (sage financial advice I have been told, especially with a new car purchase)...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Thanks - I would have been more careful if I knew you were to take me so literally :). And, yes, I confusing “remote start” with having the interior temp set from afar (from the train on my way home) and warmed up and ready to go the second I arrive (I don’t need it to drive away before I get...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

This thread has been therapeutic for me, thank you all! It helped me define why I bought the MYP in the first place. Since I’m a bit of control freak (I rarely ever used cruise control with ICEs), I didn’t purchase the car for its autopilot or any of its futuristic promises (I love actually...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Thanks - and I think we both agree that HW4 will rollout on CTs before being seen on MYs. So, likely not on MYs until end of year?

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Greeting from the US, dubK - sorry for my geographic assumptions. I don’t know anything about your market (nor much about the U.S. market for that matter :), except common sense says the US Tesla market is poised for an increase. But, crazy over things have happened as recently as last month...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Ok, fair enough as I don’t trust outside sources either…but, who is you inside source?? Here’s what my inside source said: “…there will be a future HW 4.0 or Full Self Driving Computer 2 which we’ll probably introduce with the Cybertruck…." - Elon Musk My inside source also said CT will...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

If that’s the only thing, dubK, then I would pull the trigger at today’s net price. The 3/1 event, current demand / deliveries extended to Q2, perceived excitement around HW4, $80k tax ceiling, inflation, current slim historical price gap between MYP-MY-M3, cost for new hardware upgrades, etc...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

I will say I love driving the MYP…why would I give up that experience to a computer, even if it was free! And especially not for $15k! Besides, I’m a bit of a control freak and hate when others drive my car…:)
  21. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

And, in a very unique situation, those who have the old technology and likely those who get the future technology will BOTH pay/paid more than those who take delivery today (and much more so if tax credits are in play). This is certainly true for all MYP owners from model inception (2019)...
  22. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

This isn’t my battle, but I can’t resist to share my thoughts: those with the past technology are faced with a lot of the same issues with HW3 v HW4, as those buying now - but you paid much more for it (and it was even more expensive then as the dollar is worth less than 2 years ago)! And...
  23. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

But then again, you paid more for that feature. Let’s face it, the safest way to park is in reverse. And the cameras are perfectly fine for that, especially at todays prices (and even more with tax credit, if applicable). I only say that to demonstrate what I just learned from this thread -...
  24. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Well said. And I would guess most MYLR buyers chose that trim over MYP as it’s more “practical” (better range, lower price, maybe a 7- seater, only trim that qualified for tax cut at time, and/or don’t find value in paying for widely perceived “higher-end” product). I only got the MYP because I...
  25. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Yes - this exactly. Some of us are worried about depreciation of HW3 v. HW4, but if you get in at todays prices, and don’t use anything beyond autopilot, you automatically bake in the savings upfront - a savings that will likely offset any future depreciation concerns. If you buy a new car every...
  26. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Yeah, but I would think that you would have to pay a premium for that privilege. I am of the opinion that the MYP will be raised another $1k or $2k in the run-up to 3/1. And once HW4 is better baked, I would guess that Tesla would raise the price along the way, maybe even reaching or exceeding...
  27. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Thanks and all good points! Yeah, my consolation is that “value” only matters when you sell, and my sell date is a likely a long ways off (making the difference now impossible to factor in beyond “nominal”). My insurance provides a gap on if I wreck the MYP and need another. Is Tesla looking...
  28. Newbie2023

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Thanks All. Ok, I will live with it then, wishing for some sort of parking assist to come through (although I actually only need a line on the screen when in reverse and a maybe an audible warning as backing into the spot is best IMO). Now, when I pull nose-first into my garage, I flip on the...

Changes coming, but what does this all mean?

Purchased 2023 MYP and took delivery a few weeks ago. Built in Fremont, has no USS of course, no Enhanced AP or FSD. What will be the deal eventually: will the car be able to use Tesla Vision for parking assist and other features (if so, what is your best guess on when)? How will HW4 impact me...

Mileage difference between MY and MYP

Ok great - thanks All! Sounds like I made the right call for me in choosing the YP over the Y, as my thought process was that delta in price wasn’t that big for what you get. My biggest concern was that I couldn’t get the mileage back (but it didn’t matter all that much as 303 is still much more...

Mileage difference between MY and MYP

Been wondering about the mileage diff between these models. As a new MYP owner, if I squared up and put on the smaller tires, would the range increase to the stated range on the MY? Would it make sense to switch out tires for a long road trip or for several month periods to increase by the 10%...

    What’s included with delivery?

Yes, mine came with that, the adaptor, the tow “hook” in frink, carpets for front and 2nd row (5-seater), and memory stick in glove box. I learned that MD requires tire patch and pump (and contacted Tesla about it today: it’s on back order). The later is why I’m asking as I had no clue I...

    What’s included with delivery?

I took delivery of my MYP in Maryland a couple of weeks ago. I just learned through another forum that MD deliveries require the dealership to provide a tire repair and pump (state law). I inquired this am, and Tesla said it’s on back order and will add me to the list (odd, as first time that I...

New MYP Owner: Learning Curve Tips Thread

Oh, I understand now. I was thinking like a hybrid owner where pressing the brake was the regen. But, with Tesla it looks like taking the foot off the accelerator is the regen…I love it. Thanks again, 240

Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

First time Tesla / EV owner…simply jumped in headfirst when price cuts announced. OD 1/13, MYP Midnight Silver Ext/Black Int, Vin assigned a couple of days later took MD delivery on 1/26. Was told Tessie’s bday was 1/10/23…Such an easy process, and great price!
