I don't think the responsibility to track down someone at the Tesla factory, to solve this problem, should fall upon the buyer. It seems like a matter of poor training and bad management to not return phone calls / emails when two scheduled appointments have been missed.

Yes, I called the city, and the county ... nothing.

I called the Hall County (Grand Island is in Hall County) Building Permits Department just now and was told no permits have been applied for, by Tesla. (308) 385-5293 is their phone number. Too bad. GI would be a perfect location to bridge the Ogallala / Council Bluffs gap.

Could be a bit tough in the cold of Winter, though.

The stretch between Lincoln and Gothenburg is 192 miles. Tesla will put something in between as that's too far for Model 60s and 3s. At Winter-Interstate speeds, it's almost too far for a regular 85. At this point, Grand Island would be a natural for the "filler" spot.

Great to see some 'orange cones' on the map. Hope they get one in Kearney too. That would make Nebraska very, very nice.

It looks like Nebraska will end up being at least 3 years later than the originally-planned date. That's really a shame. I can't believe it's that difficult to locate three locations to complete Nebraska. At least Lincoln is installing. But, a couple more would sure be welcome.

Lincoln to Gothenburg isn't possible with a Model 60 and even with a Model 85, it's not Winter-possible. A couple of more Nebraska SCs are required. Grand Island and North Platte would be great.

Is this something unique to Tesla leasing, through Tesla? I have a Nissan Leaf leased and registered in Iowa. But, my Tesla is purchased so I can't comment on those leases. Seems strange no Iowa leasing for Teslas.

Tesla is going to have to get busy in Nebraska or the original 2015 plans that were delayed until 2016 won't happen until at least 2017.

Well, I would agree that Tesla can't do TEST DRIVES in Iowa, but that's different than being able to sell directly, which Tesla can do, and does to anyone who orders a computer, on-line.

Misleading to say "Iowa doesn't allow direct sales" .... anyone can order a Tesla directly from Tesla and even have it delivered to their door. Alternatively, delivery can take place at any Tesla service center. In any event, there is nothing preventing an Iowan from ordering a Tesla. Period.

At least, Peru, IL is on I-80. It's under construction now. Maybe this is the start of a Westward push to go across Iowa and Nebraska .... hoping so.

I drove by the Napa SC site today. No change. It all seems to be dependent on the completion of the rest of the facility. The SC looks ready to go.

Not to worry ... there are also many destination chargers (HPWC) in both Napa and Sonoma valleys. You won't run out of juice.

Keep in mind, some people live in condos, townhouses and apartments that don't offer electrical to charge their cars. Not all workplaces have EV chargers either. I agree that Superchargers are meant from trip-charging, but for those that don't have at-home facilities, I'm sure they welcome a...

Keep in mind, the amps you require on your panel apply to when all of the electrical devices are in use. If you charge your car overnight, you probably aren't using your oven / clothes dryer / computers, etc all at the same time. I keep my Leaf and Model S charged easily with a single 50 amp...

I live in Iowa and took delivery of my 2014 Model S in Eden Prairie, MN. Great delivery experience from their staff, too. Be sure you tell your Tesla person that you'll be registering the car in Iowa, so they don't automatically slap MN plates on it! Other than that ... no issues. Just pure...

I went by yesterday. Definitely, the cement pouring has been delayed by the heavy rains in the North Bay. No change really for the last month.

Went by today. The Convenience Store is there and it looks like cement should be poured soon, near the chargers.

For sure, I would take advantage of an Aurora HPWC. I do think the Grand Island and North Platte areas will come on-line within the next 12 months. But, until then, it would be great to have something that close to GI and near I-80. Thanks for posting, and good luck if you make the move.
