Chevy has a new ad that is aimed at Tesla (indirectly)....

As I understand the deal, the 3G is for life and Slacker is not. Renewable at 6 months? Or am I wrong on this? My maps have been updated twice in the 5 months I have had ownership of the Model S. Now have an App also connecting to my phone calendar which I live by. No complaints on my end.

Wired - What Tesla Needs to Fix Before It Gives Us a New Model S

I wonder if this is something that can be changed after delivery. One can easily see the Speed control arm but the wiper/turn signal is not visible at all. I agree that the wipers are not very effective and are noisy. I guess if this all we have to complain about we are fortunate. I have the...

Wired - What Tesla Needs to Fix Before It Gives Us a New Model S

How come no one has brought up the seriously flawed windshield wiper control totally hidden behind the steering column? If there is another thread on this please let me know. Initially I did not like not having a center console and actually placed my name on a mailing list to get one. My P85 was...

About time to unveil the D and something else

Nevada Gov signs all Four Gigafactory Bills. It is now a done deal!

Amazingly intelligent decision by the state of Nevada. Brilliant people tend to surround themselves with other brilliant people. Our country certainly needs more brilliant people like Elon Musk. Tesla rules...

Great Tesla Review Makes the Globe's print edition front page!

It feels good to be so ahead of everyone else when it comes to automobiles. Range anxiety is a joke. Perhaps only an excuse for others like Lexus to make a falsified case against EV cars.

    Articles/megaposts by DaveT

Driving the Model S is like Scuba Diving really. It is not rocket science although it may seem like it at first. Dive tables are simple and give plenty of leeway for error in calculations if one uses them properly. I have been diving all of my life and I have always enjoyed doing the simple...

What Is It Like to Work at Tesla Motors?

Very interesting rhetoric. Tesla is kind of the company that is probably breaking some molds. At 56 with two grown Millennial children I have witnessed some real cultural differences in work ethics and life goals. Both of my adult children have college educations and decent lives before them...

2Qs: Opti-coat Pro and fingerprints, and how to get a "spot free rinse"

I recently went with the Opti-coat Pro sealant with a double application to the front surfaces of the Model S after six weeks of ownership. My home water is very hard but I have been drying the washed surfaces with a good old fashioned clean Shami. The real thing, not a synthetic brand. The...

Hyundai executive whines about Tesla, claims Superchargers are government funded

Wasn't the loan primarily for developing Space X? The fact that they paid to off years early speaks volumes.

Rear Camera Visibility in the rain

Got a call from the Tampa SC and will bring car into them to inspect next week. I am just perplexed at how something like this could happen. I can't imagine given technology and the company's ability to interrogate every aspect of the car that there is not some electronic record of this damage...

Rear Camera Visibility in the rain

Got the car back tonight and it looks fantastic. Garry Dean Detailing did a great job... that is the good news. The bad news is that he discovered a body flaw on the driver's door. The lower panel has been repaired and in his opinion the repair sucked. Once he pointed this out to me it was...

Rear Camera Visibility in the rain

Interesting note. I took mine in to Gary Dean's detailing today as recommended by several Florida enthusiasts. I never asked about the windows. I have historically used Rain X on all windows with good results. I will ask Gary tonight about the windows. Thanks.

    Audi A8: Tesla killer

Totally agree with this. I tell my friends that this car is ten years ahead of all others. Drives like a luxury sedan, handles like a turbo Porche without any noise, and has incredibly low maintenance. Not to mention the car can update and improve via the internet. Beat that General Motors! Ford...

Why the Dual Charger option is a good thing to have

I had the dual chargers installed with purchase. I thought I had researched every aspect of buying the car but Tesla's information on this issue was not clear. They were not bundled and I made the assumption that dual chargers would speed charging at public charging stations. No regrets though...

    Audi A8: Tesla killer

There are two kinds of people that drive cars; those who have driven a Tesla and those who have not. This author is probably one of the latter. The TESLA driving experience is incomprable to any other. I rest my case.

Stolen Model S crashes after police pursuit. 7/4/14

Stolen Tesla Crash I am surprised that there have been no posts on the stolen Tesla crash that happened yesterday in California. Apparently crashed while being chased at 100 mph. Driver ejected but still alive. The Tesla was split in half and the batteries ignited according to news reports. Is...

Article on void Tesla warrantly 20 June 2014

My question is what is the best thing to do? I live in Florida so no extended warrantees are legal at the present time. My understanding was that annual maintenance consists of rotating and aligning tires, changing the A/C filter, and topping off the windshield wiper fluid. It may possibly...

    NADA getting desperate

Dealerships have been great and the gold standard for so many years in the USA. But times have changed. Car companies that mass produce autos that overstock their sale yards are stupid and passe. If one wants to buy a Tesla the cost is fixed and there is no concern over whether the dealer...

Mike Anthony interviews four Model S owners

I learn so much from this forum. I watched this entire video and realized a huge mistake I have made. I have a VW GTI that has been in my garage for exactly one month which is exactly how long I have had my Tesla. My wife has driven the GTI a few times but I have not set foot into that car or...

Delivery estimate date move up? (Anyone expecting in August - Sept?)

Those of us that have had our Model S's delivered are mostly saying the same things. I could and should have done this earlier and this was probably one of the greatest investments I have ever made. Steve1501 left out a very important point which he alludes to but does not say clearly enough...

    Watching movies at the SuperCharger.

I have a suggestion for Tesla. I know it is illegal to have a display in the front row of a motor vehicle that can show live action like movies or YouTube. But what if the software was adjusted so that could happen ONLY when the car is in the PARK mode??? Sure would be a great time killer while...

Delivery estimate date move up? (Anyone expecting in August - Sept?)

To all of you awaiting delivery; try to think back to when you were around 6 years old and Christmas was around the corner. I started my profession at the age of 35 with no interruptions in schooling. At the most important interview of my life I was asked an unusual question. If I had an...

BMW and Tesla converse about share Supercharger network

I agree. I am asked that same question all of the time. Most people can't believe the answer. Other frequently asked questions are "What is a Tesla?" and "is that made in Germany or Japan?" When their jaws drop with my response I have a hard time not telling the entire Tesla story. - - -...

    GM Recalls and Culpability

It seems to me that the difference between GM's recalls and Tesla recalls is that Tesla has been proactive. Two cases of underbody piercings with no bodily injury led to immediate retrospective changes in underbody armor for all cars made buy Tesla. Tesla's attitude and approach is refreshing...

    GM Recalls and Culpability

In reality great leaders surround them selves with great people. As a company grows the premier leader can in no way oversee every operation. If they try that it is called micro-management and that too leads to failure. For Tesla, I would suspect that Elon Musk has surrounded himself with...

    Pro-Tesla Legislation proposed in Pennsylvania

No doubt that in the long run the people's choice will win out. Dealerships are painful and quickly becoming passé. I am a progressive baby boomer but I am progressive and up to date so to speak. There is no doubt in my mind that Tesla rules. Our society needs to adapt, migrate or die. I suspect...

Car And Driver magazine's drag coefficient measurements

I saw that comment too and was wondering... "top speed is redline limited?" Is there really a limit? No one except a driver on a race track, someone drunk, or someone running from the law would ever drive that fast. It kind of reminds me of that old Nissan 200 commercial that ends by saying...

Elon Musk's Commencement Speech at USC on May 16, 2014

It really does not matter in the long run. His message is clear and makes a lot of sense. He is so right about so many things like not spending money on items that do not improve the the product such as advertising. This Model S sells itself. in my world the word is out and this car is going to...

Elon Musk's Commencement Speech at USC on May 16, 2014

Seems very appropriate for a school of business. Elon Musk is some kind of genius but he does need to take public speaking lessons. His delivery is a bit shaky but the substance is very real. I especial liked the part about surrounding one self with brilliant, hard working people. That almost...

Ask Me Anything -- Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman Defends Picking the Benz

I just got my p85 Tesla delivered five days ago. My partner's wife just got the S series which I got to ride in. Different strokes for different folks. My Tesla is pretty loaded and is no doubt the winner. I have kept my GTI VW which is a great car for fears that the Tesla may not meet my...

    Tesla Service Plan Change

It is not Tesla's fault in Fla. I take delivery in 6 days and looked into the extended service plans but Fla has a law that prevents these from being available due to some unscrupulous air conditioning companies that offered extended plans then left the state leaving the buyers empty handed. It...

    Tesla Service Plan Change

Turns out that Florida prohibits pre-paid extended service plans and warrantees because a law was in acted to prevent these because some A/C companies did same and bailed leaving customers holding the bill. Makes decisions for this even easier for me I guess.

    Tesla Service Plan Change

I am a bit confused. Is there not a "free warrantee plan" that comes with the car when purchased? Mine is due delivery in 14 days and this is the first time I have looked into the warrantee. I guess if they are going to charge you for a center console as an add on that in a way is a design flaw...

    Any second thoughts???

How come with all of these posts and all of the media coverage and all of forums available I see basically NO negatives of substance. I must agree with the "WOW factor!" That sold me the car. Elon Musk is an absolute genius with incredible forward vision and a man that has put his own money...
