I calculated for Germany. Assuming you drive 60km/day. Charging your car every weekend 2 full sun periods a 5kw peak PV could supply you for 6 months in the middle of the year 100%, but 50% the other darker months. 75% in total assuming you charge it every weekend ofr the whole sunlight period...

Another flaw. You cant feed current back into your house net. :scared: Say if i charged my battery with solar power i would want to use my own power. It would be very convenient in general to have a 230V socket in the car to use a hair dryer, drill, coffe machine. IN vacations or for whatever.

Battery lifetime is the biggest flaw IMO. That is the main reason why people are so unsure about BEVs. They fear to buy every 5 years a new battery for a huge amount of money. Tesla fans of course not. But the overall population thinks like that and also other car manufacturers. That Tesla...

the cool thing about an EV battery could be that lets say after 25 years when it has only 20-40 % of its capacity left you could use it in your house as a solar energy back up. 20kwh sounds like a solid backup.

BMW i3 is a joke. I think they only repurposed it to an BEV to test their new carbonfiber manufacturing line. and needed some big income, so a BEV was the perfect justification.

Tesla can't do everything for now(sounds right). Those start-ups and Ev makers will come closer and closer every year and also cities will need to make some conversations.

plugging a cable in is certainly not a problem. But why not have a bit more convenience? Doesnt hurt more. Now where things are beginning to change why not do it complete. Also wireless chargers could be a big attractor for the nay sayers. E-cars could become even more interesting.

Not yet. In 20 years all e-cars will have i am sure. Those will be low cost perovskit flexible panels. 30% conversion rate. like 1,3kw peak on the whole surface. E-cars will weigh only 800 kgs. thus need less energy. Though in cities with big buildings it will be still diffiuclt. A luxury but...

I bet Tesla will set the bar another time much higher with model e. Will be difficult for other manufacturers to bet them. haha I expect a model that will be much lighter like 1300kg and another time much safer. The space for improvement with an e-car is huge. New land.

ok. lets say 300kg tesla cells with 75kwh(i think Tesla calculated with 70kwh for the gigafab) i calculate 27kg then. Maybe they took the steel shells of the cells into account. Then it could be right or they estimate progress in the fabrication of the fcells.
