As the number of Tesla vehicles increases the company must make sure that the Superchargers do no become a financial drain. The Superchargers seem to be priced much less than commercial DC fast chargers.

Of course it would be fair to be charged for energy used. It is just hard to give up a freebie. I will feel the same if/when I lose my free lifetime Supercharger access.

I would just point out that in the winter 120 volts cannot provide enough wattage to preheat the car without drawing on the battery. Another good reason for 240 volts if at all possible.

I really like the lifetime Supercharging benefit on my 2014 S85. I would only consider getting a newer Model S if I feel that the driver assist features of AutoPilot (not present on my pre-AutoPilot car) become important should my native driver skills degrade with age.

The charger will never draw more than 80% of the circuit's capacity. Plugging the mobile charger into a 15 amp outlet will result in a 12 amp draw.
