Has anyone in the uk installed a tow bar on their s?

It seems the issue is one of regulation and liability, rather than physical capability of the car. There are plenty of folk in the us who have successfully fitted a towbar, and the s does just fine. It hasn't affected their tesla warranties either, since tesla would have to prove that the...

Has anyone in the uk installed a tow bar on their s?

I'd better find those comments then. it does seem that lots of people have done this, and I'd be surprised if they all knowingly forfeited their tesla warranty as a result. Attitude of an insurer is a different matter of course. I'd still like to hear from someone in the uk who has attempted to...

Has anyone in the uk installed a tow bar on their s?

I have ordered a 90d, and would like to put a tow bar on it. For occasional light towing, but also for bike racks instead of roof mounting. Has anyone in the uk done this, and if so who did it for you / what make of towbar did you fit? Also - a trailer or bikes will trigger the sonar sensors on...

Driving north - south Is 75 enough?

About to press the button on a model s before the price goes up, and having a last minute re-consider of the battery size.... was going to get a 90d, but perhaps 75 is enough? My most demanding use-case is driving between the highlands of Scotland and London. According to evtripping.com, I'll...

And there I was hoping to be talked out of it by a bunch of regretful owners.... Here I go....

    If not now, then....

I have been childishly coveting a model s for several years. I'm not remotely interested in any other car so long as it burns oil. I can afford it. But I've always held off because it just feels like a ridiculous, crazy, obnoxious amount of money to spend on a car. I don't have a commute, and...

Renting an S - Brit in the USA

Do all US houses have both 120V and 240V sockets? Or am I likely to come across places with only 120V?

Renting an S - Brit in the USA

Thankyou folks. Most importantly, is it customary to wave at other teslas?

Renting an S - Brit in the USA

I have arranged to rent an MS for a little over a week in October, driving from NY to Vermont, via New Hampshire with my family on what we call 'holiday' and I think you might call a 'vacation'. I'm a Leaf owner, M3 deposit holder and have good general EV knowledge. I thought it would be great...

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

I think they've been told that ' they don't fold flat', which leaves quite a bit of room for interpretation (do they rotate, submarine, slide, or tilt to create a flat floor?) , and a good deal of misinformation (The quoted tesla employee may be no more enlightended than guessers here). If it...

Will the Model X use the Gentex Hybrid Full Display Mirror?

possibly... but those second row headrests look higher than in the MS to me, and the third row line up with the gaps so as to create an unbroken wall of headrests from the rearview mirror's point of view. I could be wrong, but I think rear visibility with a conventional mirror won't be great.

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

Well, actually I did read the whole thread, and I can't see any suggestion that matches this completely. What I've proposed here that is different to the other suggestions is that the third row rests on the pedestal that is exposed by the submarined second row. It's the only arrangement I can...

Will the Model X use the Gentex Hybrid Full Display Mirror?

The rear headrests on both the second and third row are really big, and staggered such that rear vision is going to be really poor if a standard rear view mirror is all that is offered. This to me makes it more likely that the Gentex thing is likely; in fact maybe essential with the third row up.

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

Hmm, so I have here a slight variation on previous suggestions that is my 'bet' for the reveal on 29th. To me it is inconceivable that the x could reach production without the ability to create a flat load floor. It was a feature made much of at the prototype reveal; and confirmed by email last...

    Model X Mule Sightings

This looks to me very much like the top edge of the 'floating' screen seen in the prototypes. The 'Mules' all seem to have been using borrowed MS dashes, but this must be the production interior.

    3G connection & maps

I'm an aspiring future tesla owner... i live in an area with very patchy 3G coverage, and I'm wondering how this will effect the operation of the nav and other functions. Particularly the maps - if there is no 3G signal, is there no map displayed? Is it possible to cache maps using wifi before...

What will happen if Tesla announces a 110kWh pack for the S

If Tesla wish to smooth out the model-year demand curve with ad-hoc unannounced improvements, they really should acknowledge the impact this has on customers' buying decisions. The hoo-haa over the D is superficially childish. But if it was me, and I had just taken delivery of a vehicle costing...

What are the technical barriers to large battery-electric trucks?

Large trucks (Articulated trucks, the things that Americans call 'semis' I think) account for maybe 20% of vehicles, but about 80% of road transport greenhouse gas emissions (or figures of that order). Some smaller rigid trucks have been successfully electrified (Smith Electric Newton for...

    Bold prediction

Well, I was wrong. At least for this episode. But the show reached new lows of scripted lameness..... complete dross. My kids loved it. They did mention the i8 however, which I think will feature on a future programme. Clarkson seems to like that one, I think because it has a hole into which...

    Bold prediction

I'd be a bit bonkers to imagine Elon would unveil the Model Eon Top Gear .... no, just that it would be great if Elon did appear on TG (The 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' segment), and in his measured, concise and thoughtful manner set about showing Jeremy Clarkson to be the oil-fuelled moron...

    Bold prediction

Elon is currently in Europe doing something of a little tour, and on Sunday, a new series of Top Gear starts on the BBC in the UK. Coincidence? Or perhaps we will have Iron Man in a reasonably priced car?
