Any idea how the low cost financing will affect earnings?

So what does the recent NHSTA mean with respect to Tesla’s liability in these accidents? Do we need to worry about big payouts in legal cases?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I learned my lesson the hard way. I sold my entire stake in Tesla when the Fremont factory closed during Covid. When revenue went to zero. And that’s when the stock took off. So the numbers including deliveries don’t always matter is what I took from that.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I am trying to better understand the hardware, and whether it is sufficient to truly achieve self driving. The side cameras are angled back, which I presume is to view the blindspot during driving. I do not think that these adequately view cross traffic when trying to make a right or left turn...

Ok, no more picking up pennies in front of the steamroller. Bought back 1/25 600 calls for a loss and covered the loss by selling 12/25 260 puts. I can never be short Tesla in any form or fashion again. Lets go.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’d love to get other peoples advice. I’ve been a long time holder of Tesla. I have most of my shares with a low cost basis, which I would not consider selling. However, over the last two years, I have added some shares, which are overall breakeven to slightly positive. I’m considering selling...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I am overall glad to see Tesla going up. But I don’t quite understand why at the moment. Aren’t we expecting low margins from all the price cuts and at most deliveries in line with estimates? Is it all the AI hype? I’m still not convinced FSD will ever be a viable replacement for a human driver...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I am now seeing at least 50 and likely more Model Y long ranges in inventory within 200 miles of San Diego. Not a single performance model! Any ideas why there is such an influx of long range but not a single performance model? I really can't imagine many people buying a Tesla right now at full...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

After mulling over the IRA exclusion of the 5 seater Model Y, I think Tesla should just include 7 seater free on all orders. They will of course take a hit on margin, but it will be smaller that the hit they would take if they drop the price to 55k. They may need to still offer up to a 7.5K...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think those of you who are long term shareholders should be thinking more like long term shareholders. These numbers don’t matter long term. Really this recession is Tesla’s opportunity to take market share. That’s thinking like Silicon Valley and Tesla was born in Silicon Valley. Cut prices...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I am holding tight. I don't know how low this thing is going to go. Regardless, Tesla is my best chance to 10-20x my money so I am willing to take the risk. If it doesn't work out, I'm still richer than most people. For me the risk / reward is high and it would kill me to not be part of it once...

They are not offering $7500 for Model S as far as I am aware. Only 3 and Y. Maybe they should be.

Anecote: 3 days ago I counted 50 new model Ys in inventory within 200 miles of San Diego. This may not fully count cars which have identical configurations so the true number could have been much higher. This morning there is only 1 new model Y in inventory within 200 miles of San Diego...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yesterday I converted some stock to 2025 Jan 140 calls thinking we were at the bottom around 138. Now we dropped to 125 and Elon on twitter spaces is implying we could get to a situation where margins are zero or negative in a bad recession. Now I wish I just stayed in stock but if I switch...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think certainly earnings will be affected but its only 1 month of the 3 month period so roughly 30-40% of sales. Also, their efficiency is likely increasing with Berlin and Austin which will help mitigate the effect on margins. They should also recognize some FSD revenue due to wide release of...

This is perfect. I knew he wouldn’t be the direct face of Twitter long-term. It just doesn’t make sense to take all that heat. I hope the stock doesn’t gap up tomorrow morning before I can buy.

It has been a tough several months for all of us. I'm down 8 figures from the peak. The only consolation has been money I set aside in a CRT (by selling TSLA shares) which has provided me with stable income in retirement. I guess what I have learned is that my portfolio going down millions...

Personally, I think a token buyback is a good idea. It just serves as a reminder to the market that this is an amazingly innovative company with strong cash flow and if you don’t wanna buy shares someone else will so don’t take this company for granted. It does not have to be $10 billion. I...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

How bout selling far OTM leaps to fund buying your short term puts? You have your pie and eat (most of it) too. Even if it gaps up you'll have plenty of time to buy the calls back later at a profit after the next round of FUD. For example you might consider selling 1/19/24 750 C for $3.45.

Since its the weekend, I hope its ok to post this here. Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Who knows, maybe they sold already. I'm sure Elon was getting some flack from China about the decision to buy bitcoin. When it went up to 58K, there should have been some incentive to just sell and realize a profit of roughly 1B dollars which would make Q1 look great. Hopefully that's what they...

I wasn’t too thrilled with their portrayal of the model Y, especially reliability and autopilot. Do we believe reliability is still poor or does anyone have a sense or data indicating that there has been improvement over time? Edit: I think autopilot is much better than they portray.

As always, there are those that think Tesla is overvalued and cannot fathom the recent price appreciation. Tax discussion, strategies and questions

I believe shorting LEAPs is the same thing as selling LEAPS so yes there is a disagreement between the 2 articles. However, I don't think that tax is much different between short term and long term at a total income of 290k. It comes out to about 24% either way. Feel free to PM me if you'd like...

    Tax discussion, strategies and questions

The article I referenced above seems to indicate they will be taxed short term even if sold short in account longer than a year. But he is planning on retiring so his income in 2022 could be much less. I’m getting about 23% effective combined tax rate in Utah if 290k is his only income. Not...
