Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

This game won't be over till Tesla falls into bankruptcy and some, with righteous indignation, will claim that they've done consumers a favor.

Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

This just pisses me off more and more, the people that were happy until they read this set of threads. Are you kidding me? So you had an incredible car right up until someone told you you didn't? Did your car slow down last night? And the the drum beaters, hell bent on fomenting this...

Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

The core of this entire issue is that Tesla produced HP numbers in the first place. They need to go Apple on it. Apple lost heavy ground when they tried to go toe-to-toe with other processors and shifted to the Motorola chip. It's apples to oranges and, in fact, is both meaningless and silly...

Another interesting thought along that line is that a tweak was applied, but it's protomatter (ancient Star Trek ref). It works in a controlled environment but can't, perhaps for safety or car health, be released at this time. Could've been put in the MT car without them even knowing it. Of...

I don't have a P, eclipxe - are you saying that you definitely feel the difference, at all speeds up to 80? I had read, and was under the impression that the P was not really worth it, that the 85D, bang-for-buckwise, was good enough. Opinion?

    Welder outlet charging

There's a gentleman here in AZ (met him at a Tesla Enthusiasts event) that does it all the time. I don't know the details of your connector, but like Kandiru said, buy all the adapters if your concerned and you'll have a great kit for when on the road. I have all of them including CHAdeMO and...

Appreciated. In my experience, companies are rarely smart enough to actually orchestrate such a thing, and keeping that quiet would be even tougher. As has been stated by you and others, the more likely scenario is either screw up or caught with pants down. None of this, of course, excuses the...

You don't need to, you're in the thread. Fair, although I've not looked at the threads to see if there is any more to the story. If it's akin to this debate, then there are more angles than what is being presented here. MT disagrees. And the number of customers worrying would probably be less...

    Tesla is Betamax??

I would agree, if they actually had a plan to solve the infrastructure problem. Putting chargers at dealerships is hardly a plan - everyone I talk to about EV asks the same question about range, anxiety and "what do you do if you get stuck?" There's only one company out there that has...

In fairness, Tesla doesn't disappoint customers before delivering. You, and several extremely vocal people have created much more disappointment and kerfuffle than perhaps would be out there. That statement is a broad brush and reflects your position as if it's a truism for all customers...

    Tesla is Betamax??

Spot on, Petra. I believe that people completely miss the real Killer App of the Tesla: the SCs. Tesla brilliantly noted that adoption of a (relatively) new paradigm will take an infrastructure that eliminates range anxiety. Certainly, the time to charge is a downside compared to anything that...

BMW tries to fight my Model S - somewhat successful...

Man, what a nasty story. Almost turns my stomach, seeing such a beautiful car that way (one of ours is black as well, so it hits too close to home) I guess I'm confused about one thing - even if they did damage the fenders during towing, wouldn't that then also get covered? I mean, the car is...

    Escort Redline Install

Totally my pleasure, I really appreciate the time you took with those PMs. Made me feel much less concerned about getting into it. Old farts reminiscing about computers

I purchased Delphi again a few years ago, when they announced their Windows/OSX platform, then followed up with enterprise version of the iOS and Android version. It was as fine as I remembered it, but I've moved so far away from that kind of development that it no longer made sense. But I'm...

    Old farts reminiscing about computers

We jumped right past Fox from dBase III into Clipper. I recall Summer '87 to be the best of that breed, especially when combined with "B-Linker" which did paged memory swapping and dynamic link libs. That, combined with some special sauce we wrote in C to get super performance from a couple...

    Autopilot 1.01 coming soon...

"Slowing before turns" would take more intelligence than AP has been currently endowed. Anticipation of a curve, and then accelleration out of it...

I use EVTripPlanner while at home, a couple days before a trip to make sure that I'm seeing all possible options, but once in the car I select a SC and then watch my output to make sure that all the various systems in the car agree, roughly (or I can calc the deviation) that Im within...

They are NOT messing around when they say AutoPilot is Highway only. (Be CAREFUL!)

You equilibrated speeding with AP and endangerment. This is the actual fallacy. We can see that even the state governments see speeding as different than drunk driving and other forms of less-controlled driving. Driving AP in a way that is inconsistent with the rules specified by Tesla could...

They are NOT messing around when they say AutoPilot is Highway only. (Be CAREFUL!)

Because we've already seen videos and heard the stories of people pushing AP considerably beyond what it was designed to do, and AP making (perhaps, not entirely known) very bad decisions. I'd wager that, if used in a very conservative way, on straight highways with clear markings, the odds...

They are NOT messing around when they say AutoPilot is Highway only. (Be CAREFUL!)

Unequal assertion. Speeding is a well understood risk with high practice and established parameters. Autopilot appears to turn car against incoming car

Right. Well, with all due respect, your notion of "craptastic UI" a "pre-alpha release" or what you want or don't want in the car is neither a factual truism for the community in general or a widely held opinion. Your opinions, thus stated, make it impossible for someone that likes the direction...

    Firmware 7.0 Beta Discussion

Well said. In fact, when I am worried about (or even interested in) range I put the full energy app on low end of the 17" and toggle between mile-averages and usage trajectory to make sure that I've got myself sorted out. Why Do Car Buffs Dislike Tesla?

In my experience, the real car buffs I work with give me good-natured ribbing, and talk about beating the pants off my car ("I've got my Z06 in the repair shop to have the remains of a Tesla pulled out of my exhaust pipe..." LOL) but they also respect the hell out of hit and think it is...

    SSD for music storage?

FLAC? A 512 would hold most of my library - the stuff I'd actually want in my car anyway. But using the iTunes playlists-to-genre hack posted on this board, it has to store the same tune for as many times as it appears in playlists. So I can get sometimes 5 instances of the same file on the...

I'm 52, but my father was a professor at a local college and I was playing with the '370 terminals and getting credit for it by time I was 10. I was fascinated by 6502 assembly when my high school got an early, 4K Apple. Thought I'd died and gone to heaven. As the few that have posted here...
