    Towing a T@B trailer with Model S

Any update? I have a T@B S Model and was thinking about trying it. Send private message if you do not want to post here. I can tell you that the T@b is not very are inspire of it's looks. We current tow it with a Lincoln MKC and it get between 12-15 mpg vs a typical 25 mpg on the highway.

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

I will bow out of this thread with this. I am 100% certain that Tesla would not exist without the DIY crowd. A few here seem to want to completely discount that for what ever reason. The World is connected far more than people here want to admit. I know that Jack is a good guy and cares...

Actually I agree that Tesla has changed the way people think about EV's. I NEVER ONCE SAID OTHERWISE!!!! What you refuse to admit is that coverted pieces of junk like my cars ALSO have changed the way many people think about EV's... In fact is was a CONVERTED car that got Elon interested in...

High Voltage Battery is Being Replaced

Sounds like a failure of something like the DC-DC converter that converts pack voltage to 12vdc for the car's electrical system. If it quit working the car's electronics would drain the 12V battery... Is this converter in the pack? I know they do not let the service centers open the pack so...

Actually Jack and his wife LOVE their Model S... I spent last weekend with them and they love the car.... I personally do not think this is a big issue, but there have been enough issues to watch it closely... - - - Updated - - - Well I saw his wife driving this imaginary car last weekend....

    Supercharger - Greenville, SC

I think they are doing a good job. July was good, buy June was very low. However, giving the current rate, I see no way they could hit their 2014 goal... There are just not enough in the permit and certainly not enough in the construction phase... It could change, but that is what I can see...

Defending Tesla has ended a Friendship of mine

This person is NOT a friend. What he is doing is NOT teasing. He is being a jerk (most likely out of fear or jealousy) My only question is why you would want to be friends with a person like this... My friends tease me about my EV addiction all of the time, but are mostly supportive of my...

How to get the best rate with Tesla financing?

I went with Alliant at 1.49%. Wells Fargo was 2.24%... My reasons: 1) If tesla goes under, the buy back is worthless... 2) If Tesla does not go under the cars is most likely going to be worth MORE than the buy back...

HPWC 80 amp vs. 40 amp

I did not order it as I know it would not do me any good. The only 40+ amp charger any where near me is the Tesla Service center and it is only 13 miles away. I have to keep a milage log and i almost never exceed 150 miles in a day of driving. For long distance driving the SC network will...

BMW CEO: US i3 Sales to be a “Couple Thousand” in 2014

At first I though BMW was serious about EV's. I even though about getting a REx version of the i3 as I know that I need more than 80 miles of range ( but less than 150) often in my daily driving. The car was fun to drive and was surprisingly comfortable. It was much easier to get in and out...

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

I call them the way I see them. This post started with a very negative tone toward the DYI community and has not deviated from that in my opinion. I do try to educate people who care to listen when I can. I promise I will not post here any more as I will not change your mind and you will not...

  30. S

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

I NEVER said that... Most converted EV's with lithium batteries are in the 80-100 mile range like every other EV except for Tesla. They typically are capable of going well over 80mph though... I gave you exactly what you asked for and you still refuse to accept that it is could easily be...

  33. S

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

You guys have the right to dismiss any contribution to the EV cause from the DYI crowd if you like. It really does not matter to me. I know that my one little built has at least encouraged hundreds of people to at least think about EVs in a way they never did before. At least four I know of...
  34. S

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

I simply see a ripple effect. When one person is encouraged to get an EV they show it to people at work and family members. We are interconnected more that most people realize. To be honest I have been rather surprised at how people have completely dismissed and basically insulted the DYI EV...

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

Over the summer I talked to hundreds of people several went on to buy/Lease an EV. There are thousands of people doing these builds. If each one of these people show there work to hundreds of people it does in my opinion have a positive effect.
  36. S

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

I got it, you completely dismiss any benefit from the DYI crowd..... - - - Updated - - - Yep and is also fair to point out that the early Tesla designs were started from the DYI crowd....

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

How does Tesla buy-back "set the market"?

Here are my thoughts... 1) If Tesla goes under the buy back is more or less worthless... 2) If Tesla does not go under the car will probably be worth more on the open market than the buy back program. 3) The interest lost in financing with Tesla vs a direct pay off or better interest loan is...

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

Sorry , I had to respond that that statement. Quality (and safe) Lithium batteries have only been widely available for about 5 years now. The same is true with 100+ hp three phase drive systems with regenerative braking. These two items make a Hugh differences in the quality and reliability of...

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

At least to me, that is just a different way of saying that you think that they are junk or a waste of money.... I have been a true gear head since I was 14. I have friends that run hotrod shops and do some true show quality cars. I also know that most hotrods and restorations (of any type)...

I miss understood you. I thought you meant that most of his viewers who build a DYI car did not also own an OEM EV.... I know that most of the people I have talked to who did a conversion also own (or are buying) an OEM car... Yea, he did get the plug recall wrong... He does make mistakes...

I like working on cars, so it is a natural fit for me. I like knowing how all of this works. I could have just bought a leaf and more or less had the same range and performance of my EVThing, with more creature comforts, but it just did not appeal to me. He gets a lot more viewers than that...

Unfortunate incident with my P85+ last night

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

Cost is always going to deter people, but many people are starting new DYI builds in my area. Two also have a MOdel S on order. These are typically people who love older classic cars but want a modern twist on the build. Many of these old hotrodders are just bored with building the same old...

I love old and new cars..... True gear heads are just like that.... P.S. I went to the Tesla Store in Marietta Ga yesterday. Several owners and a couple of reservation holders asked the to give them a ride. I let one guy drive it. He is building an electric VW van. He is also buying a...

Production vs. Conversion, Model S Drivetrain, EVTV coverage etc.

You seem to think performance is the ONLY way to measure the value of a car. True gear heads would laugh at that statement. I have seen many people painstakingly restore a Model A with a grand total of 40hp and spend far more than I did on my EVThing and enjoy ever minute of the experience. I...
