Is there a reason to not buy two Powerwalls - other than it's twice the price? The peace of mind from the additional capacity (and the additional margin of error that comes with it) would seem to be well worth it.

Wrong. I called several "Tesla Certified installers" and they won't touch my existing Tesla-installed Powerwalls, apparently for fear of pissing off Tesla. Rip and replace is apparently the only option.

There's one advantage to the avalanche if you think about it - you get back to maximum generation (or something close to that) very quickly. Handy if you were hit by a major snowstorm and the grid power is out.
