    Supercharger - West Kelowna, BC

Still missing primary utility transformer. Pad, conduits and meter base in place. Looks like we’re waiting on the electrical utility (BC Hydro I think, but it may be Fortis).

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

Parking paint went on mid day yesterday. Half a dozen electricians were working on cable terminations at the pedestals. A wee birdie told me that BC Hydro will be there to start their work on the 29th.

    Service in BC?

Last time I talked with the BC mobile service group (January 2019?), I was told that the tech was in Kelowna every other Tuesday. They were renting space at Prestige collision for the work. I assume that they are in other towns on other days. Appointments are made in advance. Years ago Tesla...

    Tesla Owners in Alberta

Very nice. 6kW? Is there a website where others (me!) can view the output from your array? We’ve been considering installing panels at our house, but keep putting it off. Last estimate I had was $2.50 to $3 per watt installed. I’d be interested in what your final costs are.

Téo Taxi Supercharger - Dorval, QC - P.-E. Trudeau Airport (not public)

Leave them on the map, but mark them as not available to the public. People will hear about them one way or another, and unless they are acknowledged (marked on a a map) and marked as not available to the public, some of those people will go looking for them and be annoyed about wasting their time.

    Vancouver BC VIN .

Call Tesla in Vancouver. They have been very helpful in fitting us in for service when we are planning a trip to Vancouver. I try to give them a couple of weeks or more lead time. Bear in mind that my experience is for the years before the Model 3 came out in large numbers. There is (or at...

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

I'm curious (particularly with regards to BC) as to whether more than one vehicle at a time can charge at most (all?) CHAdeMo/CCS locations? I don't have an adapter, so I don't frequent those chargers, but the ones that I have looked at recently have one CHAdeMO cable and one CCS cable. Can...

    Canada - Maps update?

Our 2013 updated late last week and I’m just heading home after a drive to Edmonton. I believe that the text on the MCU is clearer now and always sized correctly, but I haven’t noticed any other changes on the MCU. The big improvement is on the dash screen. Street labelling is much better and...

What is the cheapest Ontario EVIP approved charger?

Winter Tires and Rims - Canadian Availability

I haven’t heard anyone poop on the Sottozero 3’s. The thread on them looks like it should work well on snow. Having said that, I have babied a set of Sottozero 2’s through a winter and stand by my claim that they are unacceptable (crap) for use on snow.

    Vancouver on 4th... charging?

Everytime I have been into the Vancouver Service centre they have put our vehicle on a charger. Not sure if they do this for everyone, but they have always made an extra effort to accommodate our trips in from Kelowna.

    Supercharger - Tsawwassen BC

Maybe better to move the posts concerning the Tsawwassen Superchager in this thread to the actual Tsawwassen Supercharger thread. I doubt that many people would consider the Tsawwassen supercharger to be the Vancouver supercharger as the only real reason to go to Tsawwassen, if you don’t live...

It’s not just you. Interestingly the rear hatch does open on touch of the button above the license plate, so it “sees” the fob. I can’t recall if the doors respond to touch / proximity after the rear hatch has opened, or if I still have to click the fob.

Free charging for all EVs -- Should this be a thing?

I’ve been to 4 MEC locations in the last year. Two of them have EV charging; 2 of them don’t. Sweeping generalizations, especially when they are wrong, are best avoided when trying to make a point.

Charging at 32A? Get 25% faster charging.

When Tesla recalled the original (40A) 15-40 adapters, ours was heat fused to the UMC so they replaced both the adapter and the UMC. The replacement set has been running at 40A since then and is much cooler.

I too would like them in a sub-forum. Most of the supercharger threads are regionally specific. I was just in Edmonton and a 3 day rental (Thursday through Saturday) was $82.83, taxes in, for a “standard” vehicle out of YEG, which I thought was a surprisingly good price. TPMS now double in price!

That's not what I've experienced with our vehicle. Most of the time that I do a switch over between our winter and summer wheels I forget to reset the TPMS. Well, at least until the vehicle nags me, and then it's a simple task of driving 40km/hr (or something like that) for 5 minutes or so...

    X rims in the Gta

I have a set of Sottozero IIs. I babied them through a winter and then bought a set of x-ice 3s. The Sottozero IIs are wet weather tires. They are NOT snow tires. The Sottozero IIIs look to have a more aggressive thread that might work on snow.

Mark is still there and in charge of service (for all of western Canada I believe). It's just that the facility is a little overwhelmed by the demand at times. The new service centre was crowded and busy almost from the day it opened. Mark was up in Penticton a month or so ago for a test...

    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

I agree that it is a Tesla-centric point of view, not to mention my point of view, as I don't see very many Leafs around the Okanagan. I'd be interested to know just who is using these CHAdeMo chargers. Society needs to move on from old technology. If...

The Junior Programmers are at it again

I went to the pub and asked for a pint of beer. What did I get? Legally, a pint is 20 Imperial fluid oz in Canada. In the US it is US 16 fluid oz (and, no, a US fluid oz is not the same size as an Imperial fluid oz). In the pub, it seems to vary from 12 oz (a "sleeve") to, just occasionally...

What do you pay for electricity?

I wasn't asking how much it costs to run the vehicle. Rather, I was asking what electricity costs in different jurisdictions. My "incremental" cost to run the vehicle would be $0.15617/kWh + 5% GST = $0.164/kWh. That's because changing the vehicle is all done at the higher, tier two rate...

    Western Canada Superchargers

On "supercharged" routes this is the same situation for us. Now we do a normal charge at home overnight and just drive. Before superchargers a trip to Vancouver involved a full range charge before leaving and a 3 hour stop in Hope at a 16kW L2 charger. Now it just involves figuring out where...

It's interesting that you find that. I usually find that I use (a bit) more power on the westbound leg than on the eastbound leg. It seems counterintuitive until you realize that you often have a tailwind heading east out of Hope and a headwind heading west into Hope.

What do you pay for electricity?

Vancouver to set fees for city-owned & operated EV charging locations

I'm for it as well. On recent trips to Vancouver it's been difficult to find an available charger, and it they remain free, it will become near impossible. $2/hr for a 6kW (not 7kW) is around twice the rate (taxes in) that is costs to charge at home, so that seems to be a good starting point...

    Vancouver Supercharger location confirmed.

There are a lot of 6 kW public chargers in the Vancouver area, but they are of limited use to visitors for a couple of reasons: 1.
