Consumer Reports gives the Model S a low reliability rating "44" out of a 100?

Since the Tesla broke consumer reports rating system, the car has only gotten better. So this is all about reliability. Knock on wood but my 2013 hasn't had many issues at all.

Does Tunein Premium Work In our Cars?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. 1. I have TuneIn premium. 2. I have logged into my account from the car. 3. I have followed audiobooks and other premium content from my phone app and from a web browser. 4. From my phones app and browser I see all followed content - both premium and not premium 5. From...

I really hope Model 3 doesn't have rear wheel covers....

Falcon wing - that's what I get for replying too fast. I definitely see that as part of the basic style of the Model X. Regarding the Roadster, I don't claim to be the expert, but a recent fastcompany article had the following quotes which are interesting (although there are lots of articles...

I really hope Model 3 doesn't have rear wheel covers....

Agreed; that was the balance to which I was referring. Roadster was pretty much in progress when Elon took over. The S is a car whose innovations were granted more on the inside. For the X, I can only say: Gull Wing Doors. I can only go by the statements that they have made that seem to imply...

I really hope Model 3 doesn't have rear wheel covers....

Don't see them following what others have done before...seems too far from Musk and Tesla culture. the real balance issue is: being innovative Tesla on one hand vs schedule and time to market on the other. The innovation comes with real schedule risk. Another challenge for them is mass...

Model 3 will have less features than the S. Which one would not make it?

Supercharger will absolutely be there. Removing it breaks the vision of EVs being able to make ICEs into fossils. The vision is a mid cost car that replaces the need to have any ICE in the typical house and proves why ICE "training wheels" in the hybrid model aren't needed. Removing...

    Worse than ICE'd; complete disrespect

Hotel just said that they'd look. They didn't seem overly concerned. I had considered that it was an EV owner for a moment, but if it had been the j1772 from the spot in which the truck was parked, it would have been more likely. Since it was the tesla hpwc cord dragged across the tesla spot...

    Worse than ICE'd; complete disrespect

We were at a hotel with an hpwc. There was a truck parked in the EV spot next to the hpwc with a cord attached to the truck. I was at my car which didn't need a charge so was parked down the aisle from the charging spots. My first brief thought was that there was an electric plugin truck of...

Amenities, walkability, Tesla's Supercharger Location selection criteria...

A few observations: 1. Many strip mall areas and suburbs just aren't meant for walking at all. That doesn't have anything to do with Tesla. 2. One of the worst walks is the bridge from the supercharger to primanti brothers in Cranberry, PA 3. supercharger locations are varied. Most that we've...

Direct Sales of Tesla Coming to Maryland

Getting towards the last stage? Awesome news and sincere thanks to those who were there for this. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." - Mahatma Gandhi Seems like we're getting closer to that final stage for Tesla and electric vehicle adoption.

    New User interface for Autopilot

I had a new S85 loaner when I had my car in for annual this last week. Two additional items I noticed aside from those described by ArtInCT was that a) there was a small line on the speedometer where the last known speed limit is displayed even after the speed zone sign in the middle goes...

Disappointed in the media situation so far (No CD player in Model S)

Once I got a smartphone and discovered overdrive for audio books and stitcher for podcasts, the CD player on my last car grew cobwebs. Not fumbling with changing CDs even with a multi disc player is helpful. Don't miss CD on Tesla.

IOWA DMV pushed by dealerships to block Tesla test drives

Some Audio Books Dropping Out / Pausing?

I think the behavior I experience may be different. I get Bluetooth pausing and stuttering occasionally, but it lasts for a given Bluetooth session and not for a given book. If I redo the Bluetooth session it usually stops - redo usually means disconnect and reconnect the session. Thus, I've...

Looking for a destination charge this weekend. Do they let you charge if you're not staying at the hotel ( hotel was already booked when we made our plans)? How many potential buyers worry about roadtrips?

We've had trips from MD to western WV, MD to Philly, MD to New York, and MD to western Iowa and back. Especially the western Iowa trip was great and completely on the supercharger network. So, if your trips are on the current or future supercharger network which is getting extensive (but as...

I can't imagine going back (or Driving the Future Today)

Tesla first appealed to me due to its use of alternate fuel technologies. However, when I first went to the Tesla store what struck me was that Tesla has reached the simplicity on the other side of complexity (which is the grail for those of us in engineering design). They have removed the...

Should EVs Make Artificial Sounds at Low Speeds?

The obvious answer is No. There are better solutions to the problem trying to be solved. Solving the problem by introducing noise which is an unnecessary artifact of old technology is the old way of thinking. What is great about Tesla is that they have smashed many of the old ways of thinking...

Great Road Trip - Key Observations

Enjoy your trip. You'll love the car. You won't have to wait long at superchargers where you're not planning to be for lunch and dinner if you plan to reach the lunch, dinner and end of the day locations with a lower charge. For any overnight stop, we stayed at a hotel close to a...

Just used the following two on out and return trips in July: Maumee, OH, Angola, IN. Used Mishawaka, IN on the out trip but skipped it on return trip. No ICE'ing and no wait at any of them. All convenient with Mishawaka being the furthest driving from the highway. You should have no issue at...

Rationalizing buying supercharger access for couple of trips per year...

There is no reason not to use your Model S for all your travels if there are superchargers along the way. Superchargers really make the trip pleasant and easy. Waiting for sales and things are understandable, but unless you really only commute in your Model S, superchargers are part of the...

Great Road Trip - Key Observations

Many of you have already had this experience, but we packed up the Tesla (who needs a van or SUV) and our one year old and went on our longest road trip yet. Previously, we had only done Morgantown, WV-MD and NY-MD. This time we went all the way to Iowa. I just love mentioning that to people...

    Greenercars.org still hates Tesla

Tune in integration is a disaster

Yes, definite issue and the skip to the next podcast during the middle of the podcast happens frequently. I get this occasionally. I have verizon. My phone is always in the car and much of the time I bluetooth and play from the phone. The phone is not plugged into USB; it is plugged into 12V with a converter. I always place the phone on the "center console" floor and never under the screen...

No direct sales in Maryland now

This direct sales seems to be one area that is confusing folks who aren't as familiar with Tesla. I've been asked several times how I was able to buy it. Even after explaining, I was told: "Well, I thought you can't buy it in Maryland, but you definitely can't buy it in North Carolina"...

Any pre-supercharging options on way to Morgantown via I68?

So, the trip to Morgantown got delayed for non-Tesla reasons and by the time we took the trip last weekend Hagerstown and Somerset were both on-line. Since I had been driving around during the day, we didn't leave on a full charge (topped off with our HPWC). So, going we decided to stop in...

    A sneaky suspicion

Does anyone know about plans to update the Garmin maps? Currently, due to newer construction, the navigation system tries to get me to do u-turns because Garmin doesn't know the roads even though the Google maps part shows the roads.

Any pre-supercharging options on way to Morgantown via I68?

In not too long this trip will be supported by superchargers in Hagerstown and with a slight diversion, Somerset PA. Also there's a plan for a supercharger in Morgantown. My issue is near term since I'm making the trip before the superchargers will be ready.

Any pre-supercharging options on way to Morgantown via I68?

Looking to take Tesla on a road trip soon to Morgantown. I think we can make it, but with the mountains and cold wanted some emergency charging options.
