Is LR worth an extra 6k?

Expect the website to be updated as I described.

Is LR worth an extra 6k?

Now confirmed with yesterday's (another) $1K price increase. Rear heated seats and heated steering wheel now standard. No subwoofer/amp though.

Is LR worth an extra 6k?

3 month owner of a 2021 SR+ NCA. At the time I ordered in June 2021, with a $10K price difference before taxes, the SR+ was clearly the value leader, the one that depreciates the least, the lightest, and the most efficient. I said it then, and say it now - that Tesla fails to adequately...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

The only issue I had was the right mirror issue, which I considered cosmetic. The rest of my car was clean. I did have to adjust the driver's door weatherstripping to prevent a pinch point.

    Aftermarket fog lights

@Big Earl - Thanks for clearing that up. Some people mistakenly think they're fog lights (even the YouTube poster) because they're located where fog lights would typically be.

    Aftermarket fog lights

The OEM lights on the LR and Performance trims have an amber side marker, a DRL light strip, and a fog light. The SR+ has only the amber side marker, but I retrofitted the LR/Performance housing into my SR+. I'm measuring the brightness of the fog light portion, and comparing it to the an...

    Aftermarket fog lights

So many thanks @TonyLSF for showing me his aftermarket fog lights/animated turn signals. We did a side-by-side comparison between his fog lights and my OEM fog lights, as well as a side-by-side comparison of his 2020 headlights versus my 2021 headlights. Methodology: Both vehicles were parked...

How much % do you lose while unplugged?

A really, really, really long time if you turn off both sentry mode and interior climate when the interior exceeds 105 degrees.

SR+ Efficiency Example - San Francisco to Hayward

Thought I would share this example of the very high efficiency of the SR+. San Francisco to Hayward via 280 to 380 to 101 to 92 to 880, and exactly the opposite route on the return trip and 70-72 MPH on the freeway. Ambient temperature ranged from 77-91 degrees with AC on, window tint, and...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Not trying to wring the max out of it at all. The point is to understand how much headroom one version has other the other due to the added weight. The facts are that weight adds strain to the drivetrain, steering, and suspension (and efficiency). All "within tolerance" of course, but it's an...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Regarding all the LFP discussion for the past 2 days, the unknowns that I'd love answers to are: 1) How much is the weight gain? I've heard 265 pounds (which is huge), but I guess we'll find out for sure when someone takes a picture of the sticker on the door pillar on their newly delivered...

Should I keep my SR+ order, or Re lease another BMW 330?

My advice: 1) Evaluate how accessible nearby superchargers are to you and consider using it rather than running new electrical at your condo. 2) Evaluate, since you already said you don't drive much, whether you can get by with Level 1 charging at your condo.

New owner and some things that I do not like

You can turn off the mirror tilt in reverse. Tap vehicle icon (lower left), then "quick controls", then "mirrors", then "mirror auto tilt".

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Check out the actual article rather than the OneCharge summary. The keys to these conclusions are highly dependent on repeated 0%-100% cycles and temperature. So if you repeatedly go from 0% to 100%, yes you're correct that LFP would be more robust - and that said, you really should have...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Watching this YouTube video of supercharging the LFP battery, and also comparing these charts, it's interesting that the 263 mile version will supercharge faster up to ~65%, and the LFP version will supercharge faster beyond that point. Total supercharging time from 5% to 90% ends up being...

    shade of tint

The rear hatch always looks darker than the rear windows, even with the same tint. Reason is angles and also that when looking at the hatch, you're looking into a dark interior. When looking at the side windows, there's a light source on the opposite side so it looks lighter. Here's my...

    2021 Tesla Model 3 SR+ Ownership Questions

    1) IMO, must have accessories to purchase are all weather floor mats, all weather trunk mat/liner, window tint, sunshades, jack pads stored in the vehicle (if you ever need service outside the Tesla network), and endurance MicroSD card with adapter for dashcam (sentry mode is a power hog btw)...

Swapping audio sub/amp out of LR into an SR+? Possible?

To be 100% clear, you can use the factory sub, but it needs to be powered with an aftermarket sub. @todd2fst4u is "extremely familiar" with doing just that.

Basenor Model 3 Sun Shades - Review

I just installed the Basenor sun shades for the 2021 Model 3 from Amazon for $50. The 2 shades come in a zippered bag with 12 mounting clips and another bag inside with the reflective screens that you can slip on for the really hot days. In summary, they're a perfect fit and the correct ones...

help me finish my shopping on my new M3P

I'd do window tint and sun shades before any of the storage cubbies. It will make a big difference with heat and comfort. Quality ceramic tints such as 3M crystalline can be light colored and still repel a lot of heat.

    Aftermarket fog lights

I haven't installed this, but I did add OEM fog lights to my SR+. Since I don't have the fog light "button" on the touchscreen, at the OEM harness you need to splice the center wire (that would normally power the fog light) to the side marker's + wire (black wire is ground so don't tap into...

    Tesla hoist pads???

I purchased these $16 jack pads from Amazon. They just come in a small cardboard box (no carrying bag), but it's not big deal. I keep them in the lower compartment of my trunk just in case I need tire service from a 3rd party (such as Costco).

    Fog light for 2021 SR+?

Just installed some OEM foglights on my new SR+ (purchased locally from someone who switched to Euro versions). For those who don't know, the SR+ has "dummy" housings that look very similar to the actual foglights, but there no actual LED's other than the yellow sidemarker (circled in red)...

    2021 Model 3 SR+ vs LR Purchase...Check My Assumptions & Conclusions Please

IMO, it ultimately boils down to how you value/need: 1) the additional range for long trips and how often you take them 2) the increased DC charging rate 3) the additional acceleration/traction of AWD. Note that the difference in acceleration is mostly when starting from a standstill. If the...

Torn Between Dual Motor LR and Performance [resolved]

My thoughts are that if you're going on a track then you should ONLY be looking at the M3P. Sell the Uberturbines and and use the $$$ get fund some smaller and lighter forged wheels with sticky rubber. If you're never going on a track, you should NEVER be looking at the M3P. Get stickier...

    Model 3 or 2?

If you can't/don't want to wait AND you want to minimize the effect of depreciation, purchase a used Bolt EV and drive it like crazy before GM sends you a notice to replace the battery pack, after which you'll have an even greater life of the vehicle until the Tesla that meets your needs arrives.

Is vampire drain still a thing?

Agreed that the "vampire drain" has now morphed into "generic energy loss when vehicle is not actually in motion". No FSD in mine. Even better would be if everything was default OFF, and when turning to ON a confirmation screen pops up that actually quantifies the % of battery loss per day to...

Is vampire drain still a thing?

New Model 3 owner. I just discovered (the hard way) of easily losing at least 10 miles of range just being parked overnight with sentry mode ON, climate protection ON, and no 3rd party apps. This is my 3rd EV, but first Tesla, and I've never seen anything like it. With the climate protection...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

When I go on long trips, I bring a tire plug kit and a 12V compressor. Some people like to use Slime goo, but I don't like it because (1) some will ruin the tire pressure monitoring sensor, and (2) the goo is extremely temporary use and requires immediate tire repair while a tire plugs can last...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

In case anyone is curious, here's the supercharging rates for the 2021 LR AWD version. It won't stay above 150 kW once the battery is 25% full, but it does still charge faster (about 1.5-2 times faster) than the SR+, which is to be expected.
  31. 2

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Inisde EV's has an excellent article on the 2021 SR+ supercharging rates. Basically, you'll almost never see charging rates above 150 kW unless you're completely empty. And yes, the SR+ are extremely efficient. I did 70 MPH Autopilot on I-280 from San Jose to San Francisco and averaged 201 Wh/mi.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Just had mine done a California Sunscreen in San Leandro. Ask for Sidney Lee (the owner). He's been doing it for ~30 years, and my cars for the last 10 years. Here's my car (done earlier this week) with 70% front/35% rear (I don't like it too dark).

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I ordered this matte TOPlight one from Amazon for $18. Whichever one you end up choosing, have it in hand on day 1 and install it immediately. The less dust you have in your car (day #1), the more likely you'll have a nice and clean install.

Sorry this is happening to you. Reminder to anyone who may have missed this: my tips when picking up your long awaited vehicle. I'd also edit my tip #3 to note that a sales rep at the showroom DOES have the physical ability to allow you to inspect the vehicle interior BEFORE you "accept...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I had the same experience at the Serramonte store. Ordered 6/9 and picked up 8/7. Some tips for those who haven't received their VIN's / vehicles yet: 1) Pickup if possible, and give yourself plenty of time to inspect the vehicle. I could have picked mine up on 8/3, but waited until the...

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

Other than the cost, the only real con is making it more difficult to access (1) the tow hook in the frunk and (2) the lower storage compartment in the trunk.

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

@Brittanyp7447 I don't know what you're looking at, or maybe it's just angles, but I took some additional photos for you. The mats fit perfectly to the floor and do not slide. Regarding the "huge gap on the side", the mats go up from the floor about 2 inches and there's a 1 inch gap between...

Worth every penny. Perfect fit too. Here are the photos I took today. The older reviews are people who tried to use 2020 mats in a 2021 (before the manufacturer had a chance to create new ones for the 2021 front passenger footwell that was slightly different and caused a wrinkle). The real...

Forgot to mention that I had 2 accessories ready when it came time to pickup my car. 1) $96 all-weather floor mats from Amazon. 2) $18 matte screen protector from Amazon Naturally I didn't want to get the new carpet dirty when I drove off the lot. Likewise, I installed the screen protector...

Discussion: Floor Mats in Model 3

Just like jarvm in post #742 I purchased the JFIEEI 2021 Tesla Model 3 floor mats from Amazon for $96 with free shipping. They fit the 2021 models absolutely perfectly. No annoying logo, no smell, no slipping or sliding, and nice textured surface. Comes in a basic box, with 3 mats inside. No...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Picked up my SR+ today. Ordered 6/9, white, black interior, no FSD, and no options. I could have picked it up Tuesday (8/3), but wanted to give myself plenty of time today inspect it (I took 2 hours). One panel gap issue - trunk was slightly misaligned as easily adjusted the stoppers on site...

    What's next for model 3?

    1) I remain hopeful. 2) I remain hopeful. Hard to argue with decades of proven technology, regardless of look for Tesla Vision. 3) I haven't seen a single manufacturer not do this to improve refinement over time. 4) Since it's applicable to the Y as well, I suspect it's already cost-effective...

    What's next for model 3?

Since this is a highly speculative thread, I suspect in the next 2 years: 1) Android Auto / Apple Carplay added due to market pressure. 2) Infrared based auto wipers due to numerous complaints. 3) Suspension changes to enhance overall refinement. 4) Recaro-like seats and door cards for...
