There are photos for the 265/35ZR21 Super Sport on a new Model S in this post but I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere. Rear tires for the P85+ with 21x9 rears -- Michelin, Dunlop or Continental? They are also showing up on the Michelin website Pilot Super Sport tires | Michelin US

Any update on this? It seems like if the tires exist in those photos and are being put on cars for delivery, they have to be availible as replacements. Otherwise, how would dealers fix an damaged new cars?

Its good to see someone finally taking the Model S to the ring. Its a real shame about the power limiting after 3 min. Its not an 8min competitor to the M5 or E63 in this state of development. Litchfield is a tunner so maybe they will find a solution.

Its nice that they are wider (f 9 and r 10 inches) but they also weigh 34lb :-/

AWD has drawbacks on dry roads. * Added weight of the drivetrain decreases efficiency, dulls handling and affects the weight balance * AWD often has understeer (think stock Audi S and RS cars) and lacks the balance of RWD. * AWD like FWD often has worse steering feel. I'll take a well done RWD...

Looks like they are at Buttonwillow. I don't care if its faster but if Saleen can make the Model S work for 15-20min track session without going into limp mode it will be worth it. The limp mode at the track on a $100k+ high performance sedan is ridiculous.

Look at it this way. You can't use your P 85+ on the track like an M3, M5, Porsche etc. because it goes into limp mode after a couple of laps so its going to save you a ton in tires. I have to admit I've gone through tires on many other cars in less than 5K miles. That's what tires are for:-)...

Wow, I'm shocked at the responses here. Have you driven at 300+hp FWD car? They will torque steer you into a ditch/ curb, not to mention understeer on corner exit. I love light low hp FWD cars (older GTi, Integra Type-R) but FWD has no place in a 4000lb+ 400hp performance sedan.

As an instructor I would tell you to take the car with stock high performance tires. As others have said, you'll learn significantly more in the begining with less grip. I would also add that if you search the forum you'll find that people have not been able to drive their Model S for more...

16 min would be enough for a ring lap or two. If Tesla really cared to be a player at the ring they could put a supercharger at the track. Or maybe you could have a diesel generator with a charger on a trailer to leave in the paddock-- something the size of tire trailers that some people tow.

I don't think that's the attitude we should take. If we want the Model S to be a real alternative to the M5, E63 etc. we should be pushing the aftermarket and factory to enable it to perform basic sport sedan functions like one lap of the ring or 10-20 laps of your local track.

Maybe someone could design a heat exchanger and we fill the frunk with dry ice to cool it :-) I'd give up my frunk for the ability to run laps.
