Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I am running the same setup as you. It could use a little more juice, and swapping the subs out helped, but I am sure more could be done.
I fully back your exploring the limits of the Y’s electrical system. LOL! I do understand if you do want to push the limits with a powerful amp you can if...
Like to see someone try their 500/1 amp. As I remember they are not the most efficient which worries me. I also have a 1200/1 too, but figured I would be pushing it as far as throwing codes, so I am just sticking with the NVX kit amp. It’s too damn cold here in the NE to get stranded for my music!
One was a direct drop in, the other I had to modify slightly with my router. I guess different tolerances in the making of the enclosures? They sound to my ears considerably better than the NVX subs.
As you mentioned I wish the amp had a slight bit more headroom for the two subs. Maybe in the...
I have done both the sub box and the NVX stealth box. Right now I have two stealth boxes instead, with these subs running at 1 ohm to get full power from the NVX amp.
To tune the system you should get a multimeter. Search on YouTube as there are several good ways to tune. You should first make...
Thanks for the info. I had my finger on the order button to get the Audiocontrol LC 1 800 amp but just hesitant about the power draw. The AudioControl is supposed to be really efficient and has an LC2i built in so no need for a separate line level amp, an all in one amp. The unfortunate thing is...
How is your rd500/1? I have the VADM1 but I am looking to add my 12” Stereo Integrety sub which needs more power than the NVX amp can do, so I am looking at either a 500 Watt Audiocontrol or JL audio amp. I have an older JL HD 1200/1 but that is way overkill for the Tesla and would almost surely...
I am in the same boat. I have to go to an SC about once a week. I cannot charge at home since I live in an Apt. Here is the thing we are the norm in the US since most people either live in a urban environment or even many in the burbs such as us and that includes some with houses, do not have...
You are going to get a lot of opinions on this and what’s best for you may be different that what was best for others. I can say in my situation the price delta was greater than it is now plus the whole wheel and tire thing got…..well tiresome. The fact that I would have just bought an new car...
The install took about 4-5 hours with tuning included. Also worth mentioning, uninstalling the Bio defense filter in order to get to the battery took me about 20 minutes.
Right now I have my 12” sub in and using that. Looking for a replacement 10” sub for the stealthbox not too many good subs...
OK. Got the NVX setup and installed it. I think this setup sounds as good as it can with the limitations imposed. The fact that it is a stealth setup with limited room and that the amps have to be relatively low power as not to blow error codes.
I think for most this is an great way to add a...
Just looked all around the Y, not sure I would want an antenna hanging on the top rail nor at the on the hatch. I would do the 360L Tour, but many say it's buggy and slow to boot.
Well the exact thing happened to me. My steering wheel was off center. I noticed it the day of delivery. I made an appointment and two weeks later went to the SC. They fixed it while I waited, free of charge. My steering wheel is now straight, no issues.
Where are you placing the magnetic antenna for the dock on the Model Y? It's all glass up top. Can you have a phone and the dock connected at the same time? There are time I would like to use my phone for navigation (prefer Google Maps or Waze to the Tesla Nav) and might want another device to...
I have had a front tint on all my cars in NJ ( 8 cars & SUVS) usually 30% or darker and have never been pulled over for them. Even when pulled over never had a cop question the tints.
Glad I could help. I was the frustrated too and just started playing with the settings and found that I could lock my favorites this way and even have the info show on the main car screen( albeit rather small) so I can see the song while the favorites stayed locked on the phone.
The way to stay on the favorites screen is: Go into settings, then application settings and turn on “tune to audio in mini player”.
This keeps the favorites screen locked while the channels play on the mini player on your phone.
Thanks I will let you know. I have installed many amps subs before. Just that as I get older I am not as inclined to do it as in the past. I know just want a simple install that takes less time.
I am already looking at replacement subs for the box. Figured if you can't use too much power try to...
You have inspired me, but since I already have great amps plus a good LOC I think I am going to use those. As I mentioned to you in the other thread, it’s just a matter of keeping my JL audio amps low.
My question is how good are the NVX 10” subs themselves? I also have good subs but I am...
I have gear and I would like to add it to my Y. I have a JL 500/1 and a 1200/1 and just about every sql sub in a box. I am just not in the mood to do the install myself, but none of the installers I have talked to want to touch a Tesla.
Has anyone had much of an issue with their installs...
Wow has this thread grown. Received my Model Y and I must admit it is a blast. I much enjoy driving it. It is a lot quicker and much more nimble than my RX350 and generally more fun to drive too.
The fit and finish on mine was flawless inside and out no glaring panel gaps or misaligned panels...
I finally picked up my LR and I have to say the build quality is great. No fit or finish issues I can see. My only issue is that the steering wheel is slightly out of alignment. I have scheduled an appointment for next week so hopefully they can fix that quickly.
My MYP would have been delivered today so that would be about 6 weeks. My LR should be delivered in 11 weeks. Both same configurations minus the inductions on the LR.
You should place a separate order for the MYP and keep the existing LR order. My MYP would have been delivered in 6 weeks, if I kept it. My LR will probably take 11 weeks until delivered.
Love Sirius XM. For me that is one of the the things I will miss the most going from my Lexus to the Y. I have or have subscribed to more streaming subs than most....Amazon Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, but I listen to Sirius the most. It allows you to listen to a many genres of music from...
For those of you that do not get your VIN’s by September, I would say get your https://ev-tsla.com/ ready as they will most surely start dumping the demos and there will definitely be more inventory cars for sale by then too as they make that big end of quarter push.
My LR order was an earlier one. The delta between the LR and MYP was $9k. Even with the Inductions and AB I will come out $5K ahead. If however I ordered now or after the price increases I would have probably kept the MYP since there is a smaller delta between the two.
With the MYP the thing...
For me today it has been the tale of two VIN’s. Got two with 24hrs of each other. Of course I was offered the MYP first. Within two hours of me rejecting the MYP, the VIN for the LR popped up. So obviously either the SA’s or Tesla has an algorithm to get you into the most expensive car first!
Decided to keep the LR instead. My LR order was before last couple of rounds of price increases so the delta in cost between that and the MYP was $9K. If I were placing an order now with current pricing I would probably have kept the MYP instead.
As has been mentioned I was locked into the older price hence the delta between the LR and MYP is larger than today. If I was ordering now I may very well stick with the MYP.
Hope they are doing a run of #TeamRed so I can get the LR soon!
Have good news bad news. Just got the button for delivery on MYP order. Haven’t clicked it since I plan to reject it and just wait for the LR order. Which hopefully will be soon.
Should I just not touch the button and ignore or should I call an SA to cancel the MYP?
I have two orders in for an MYP and LR. I am heavily leaning towards the LR so I may give up the MYP when the VIN comes in, which I have a feeling will be in the next couple of weeks. I will let you guys know when to look out for an inventory MYP as long as you don’t mind #TeamRed.
Ok I went to no EDD on my LR order and 7-9 weeks on my MYP order and “lucky”me I am leaning towards the LR right now so someone may get lucky if they want an MYP #teamred.
Do you apply to Tesla For Financing first, get the usual rate of 2.49% and then apply to DCU to get the 1.24% rate at 65 months, then go back to Tesla and try to get a rate match at 1.24% for 72 months or just start by applying to DCU first? Also, should you wait to get the VIN first before...
