Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
So, I’ve been holding off on chopping in the M3 for the Y for a while - procrastination solely due to the removal of Mr Parky Beep.
Based on the release of 2023.6.9 I put an order in last Sunday. The tyres on the M3 being slicker than a bag of arseholes didn’t hasten the decision, honest. It...
Following!
Picking up Model Y Thurs to replace M3 and I retract any previous comments I may have made re Direct Line being v good if you’re squirting the purchase through your LtdCo and running it as a pseudo-company car for tax reasons. My experience today is they’ve become utter cockwombles...
I’ve talked to them about chopping in my ‘21 M3 SR+ for a MY but after a couple of test drives have made it clear no Mr Parky Beep (technical term) is a show stopper. It’s something I’ve had on every car for at least 25 years so if they think not having it on a £50k car in 2023 they're on...
Yes.
l have a ‘21 M3 SR+, the Mrs bought a Peugeot e208 (she was rekindling her 80s affair with Peugeot hot hatches) - great car but shite public charging infrastructure meant we chopped it in for a M3 RWD within a month.
Now considering chopping in my M3 for a MY RWD. For: much more room (esp...
I thought that but the accountant said that to claim 100% FYA the car needs to be in the name of the company and on the V5 as new.
The ‘new’ bit is interesting; if you buy an ex demo from Tesla I believe the paperwork would say ‘new’ because the OEM owned the car and not a dealership?
Careful - if it’s a quote for fleet insurance you’ll prob need a lie down in a dark room with a very stiff drink when they give you the numbers.
With DL (who I’ve been with for years) the conversation was “I’m buying it via the company so that’s on the V5 but it’s ‘my' car“ and all was fine...
My 2p worth…
Faced with a large corp tax bill it was a no brainer to give it to Elon rather than Rishi. 100% FYA. 1% (now 2%) BIK. We put all the vehicle-related Xs through the business.
Couple of notes: £400 ins via Direct Line. Noted on policy that comp is owner. DL very cooperative and...
As a kid I remember my dad's 1966 Vauxhall definitely had instructions about adjusting points, timing, carbs etc in the manual and I think the 1968 Rover did too.
Now the most complex technical advice is “do not drink the contents of the battery”.
As a species we’ve come a long, long way, innit….
Same here. Went down completely 14:30 or so. rebooted when off motorway - came back 10mins later then went again (but that may have been it picking up phone hotspot briefly - couldn’t really look closely).
The easiest bit to miss is the Skywalk entrance that takes you from the Piazza to the Atrium - where Hall 16 (tent) is. See map. You’ll come in at the left of the map. Walk towards Hall 4 (opposite you) then as you pass the glass garden bit on your right you’ll see the escalator to the Skywalk...
Unless it’s changed sine I collected mine last year, there’s a bloody great tent outside the Atrium. About 10mins walk - up the escalator from the platforms and turn right as you leave the station on to the walkway into the NEC then follow signs to Hall 16/Atrium. Then another walkway - and at...
Yer but no but… I‘m not convinced there will be a free for all re SuC imminently. But one of Madam's observations- and to quote her directly re non SuC - “THESE ****ERS JUST STAY PLUGGED IN FOREVER”.
Even were the SuC network unlocked for all tomorrow (ignoring the practicalities of that!) the...
I've had my M3SR+ for almost a year. Love it. Given the tax benefits the Mrs recently bought a Peugeot e308 - she has fond memories of Peugeot hot hatches. Lovely car, brilliant runaround, v funky.
Then she had to drive to London (~100m). Finding functioning, available chargers on / near M40...
Not quite a noob question - had my M3 and Ohme charger since end May and smart meter / Octopus Go prob month or two thereafter.
I set the car to ‘start charging at 00:30' and all is good. Get the “will start charging at 00:30” message etc. Then I look at the app 5mins later and it’s charging...
I applied end of May when I got the car. Had a call last week saying "we've got someone in the area who can fit you in today" back end of last week. Don't know how much longer it would have taken otherwise.
I did precisely this. I’ve been with Direct Line for years - gave them a call, deal was it’s still ‘my’ policy but they note on it that you’re not the legal owner. V5 subsequently turned up with Ltd Co as the registered keeper - gave DL a call and they amended the policy to ‘insured is not owner...
Yup, Cardiff deffo working fine out of hours yesterday - took a minute or two to walk to the Waitrose next door, score supper and by the time I got back had enough charge to get back to Brum. Result.
Really appreciate the comments. What I will say is the people - when you can get hold of them - have been ace. Problem is, you can’t get hold of them.
But the system - while superficially slick with the app ‘n’ all - is clearly pants. The idea that you book a vehicle in well in advance for some...
Booked my new Model 3 in for a couple of snags. They said they could do it same day so I didn’t book a courtesy car - none available until July.
Chased them up. Tried for 90mins and could not get through at all. Called the main service number and expressed my disquiet. Got a sheepish phone call...
Collected today. Pick up point is ‘Hall 16' which for those who’ve been to the NEC is a semi-permanent tent outside the Atrium - the bit towards Resorts World with the smaller halls.
Advantages: easy to get to by road and rail. Process v efficient and staff perfectly pleasant.
But it really...
Ordered mine 6th May but no inventory showing and was told it was a factory order. Then a week or so later some inventory magically appeared so I called and one got allocated. Picking up tomorrow.
Hi Everyone,
Noob here. From what I've read on various threads Octopus is the way forward (I did look at EDF but...). My setup is:
Picking up new M3SR+ next week.
Have got Ohme charger and am awaiting installers to call me to arrange fitting.
I don't have a smart meter and was looking to...
