Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I am not sure if I was hallucinating but back a couple of years ago, there was some discussion of Tesla in NASCAR, and IIRC Tesla got a grant or something to put towards the robotic battery swapping station. I thought they were supposed to be in NASCAR in 2015. Am I going crazy? Does anyone know...
I think it is quite obvious they will use SCTY -- whether SCTY manufactures them or purchases the panels, they will want to use SCTY for their financing abilities so as to reduce capex of the facility...
Also I wouldn't be surprised if they rush it to pre 2017 to take advantage of the tax...
I thought it was funny when the analyst asked why they chose to go into Nevada because it was a small market, and Rive flatly said that there is more potential business for SCTY in Nevada than they have booked in the entirety of the company. It is just another talking point to the size of the...
Rive and Musk typically like to fan the fire :)
Last time they announced year ahead guidance was the 475-525 MWs for 2014. I believe the previous day they had announced a deal with Direct Energy for a really nice 1-2 punch.
That being said it doesn't seem like that Direct Energy deal has...
they didn't comment specifically on the rate, but implied/ I expect.
They didn't explicity say anything about the timing of the next securitization, but IIRC there is a rule about discussing it publicly for a period before and after (I could be wrong).
SCTY is one of the most volatile stocks...
It's too bad people don't share useful information on here anymore... but I will give it a try.
Solarcity reported earnings this afternoon and they were great.
I am particularly excited about
1) official 2015 guidance of between 900 MW - 1 GW, that is a great number- in fact, it will continue...
I think the best comparable for SCTY's valuation is a company like Just Energy, or other energy/ natural gas retailers.
Just Energy is an extremely interesting company, who have a business model quite similar to SCTY however they add much less value, and their contracts only last max 5 years...
If you look at the retained value of today, and extrapolate that to include their goal of 1m customers by mid-2018.
"implied annual U.S. market for electricity priced at or above $0.141/kWh is $63 billion" from their presentation.
So right now they have 70,000 contracts for a retained value of...
It seems to me that Solarcity has been holding back many press releases so far this quarter. They announced their deal with Direct Energy in October, and have only PR'd two deals from that relationship. I would bet there are many other bigger deals either closed or in the pipeline, and I hope...
Here is my one concern about CSIQ. (I typically invest with a several month to several year horizon, no day trading or weekly options) -- please weigh in with opinions,
They have the very lucrative high margin deal with Transcanada in Ontario, which has been providing them with nice margin...
When this forum is quiet, it is a good time to buy. When there is a lot of action, it means the stocks are performing and everyone comes here to discuss all the money we are making! Not a terrible contrarian indicator... I have been long CSIQ and SPWR and SCTY since June, and grabbed some Jan...
Seems odd to me, the 'special announcement' and no run up in the stock...
I feel like it might be some holiday charitable donation.
If it IS international expansion (which I figured was still a year or two away), I would expect at least a 10% bump in shares...
Does anybody have predictions on the new Sunpower factory which will likely be announced in 2014?
Any guesses or predictions on capacity, cost, what country it will be in.. That would be very helpful to me. Aside from great sales growth, which I expect all solar's to have in 2014, I think SPWR...
SolarCity ABS
On another note, here is an interesting Greentechmedia post about Solarcity's newest bond http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/10-Takeaways-SolarCitys-Securitized-Porftolio
Does anyone know where I could find the S&P report?
Thanks,
One of my key considerations for who will have biggest market cap (and shareholders returns), and the fact that I bet on SCTY, is international expansion.
Currently SCTY is only US based, where SPWR is international, and has Total backing them. SCTY's stock is going to pop when they inevitably...
