    Fishtailing at strong acceleration

Nope, nor did I have them on the P85 and P85+ that I owned that both had this problem

    Fishtailing at strong acceleration

This is an unacceptable and ridiculous excuse for this problem (not directed at you Montgom). Yes, the car has good torque, etc.. but the problem has nothing to do with the torque. Explain why my renntech s65 with 840lbs of torque drove straight as an arrow? It's 100% alignment and...

P85+ Rear Tire Wear at 7400k Pictures

This whole thing to me was an immediate red flag. Having a performance based model that doesn't hold alignment, gets squirrelly under hard acceleration and tears through tires way too fast is a enthusiast's nightmare. Then to be told that until they get a long term fix, I am responsible for...

P85+ Rear Tire Wear at 7400k Pictures

This is one of the reasons I traded the car so early. Outline of my experience: - The P85 I purchased used had 4,000 miles on it, and on delivery the inside 2" of the rear tires were bald to the metal braiding - Even after new tires, the P85 was squirly as hell under heavy throttle - Brought...

Extremely disappointed with the product and my experience with my P85+

I've learned you have to go into this keeping in mind that you're jumping on the train of a new product. Wanna play with the newest toys? There are going to be bugs. Anyone who buys a car that's less than 2 years in the market is going to be an extended beta tester IMO. It comes with the...

Just as I thought the P85+ couldn't get any better :)

Looks nice! Congrats dude. I have 21 x 9 fronts and 21 x 10 rears being installed Thursday. Glad to hear you can feel the extra grip

    P85 owner traded to P85+

I found a brand new P85+ and bought it. I sold the P85 privately, Tesla's offer for the trade was pathetic.

    P85 owner traded to P85+

I know there are plenty of similar threads, so I'll make this short and to the point. I owned a P85 for 6 weeks, and took delivery of a new P85+ earlier this week. Tex is right.. the + makes a huge difference, especially to someone like myself who comes from a high end sports car background...

    P85 vs P85+ and other first impressions from a non-sports-car-guy (long, w/pics)

:) thanks for the consistent yet indirect kicks in the ass. I'll also be running a nice set of 9" front and 10" rear deep concave forged wheels too when they come in. Excited to finally settle into the right Tesla for me.

    P85 vs P85+ and other first impressions from a non-sports-car-guy (long, w/pics)

I just couldn't live with it. Coming from the cars I've owned, I am the prime demographic for a P85+. I just happened to get into the wrong car, and I needed to correct that.

Paperwork done. Should be picking up + on Monday.

    P85 vs P85+ and other first impressions from a non-sports-car-guy (long, w/pics)

I'll be honest, Tex's confidence in his + has been slowly chipping away at me since I joined this forum. Coming from the suspension of a 2012 R8, I'm constantly wishing for more in my P85. You may see my VIN # change here soon..

Swaying / Fishtailing / Handling Fix

I texted my buddy tech at the Tesla service center and he said 140nm or 103 ft lbs. My toe link bolts were at freakin 50 nm. Barely even on there. I torqued them down to 135nm, they wouldn't go any tighter. Excited to see what kind of impact this has on my issues. Pretty unnerving to think...

Swaying / Fishtailing / Handling Fix

It sounds like this is exactly what my P85 needs. Do you know what the proper torque specs were?

This guy is gonna have me trading in for a +. Constantly makes me wonder what I'm missing out on. :)

    Torque Steer?

Not to resurrect an old thread, but this is exactly what my P85 does. Under full acceleration it drifts to the right. Both rear tires are exactly 41psi.

Blacked out Window Trim with Plasti Dip

The PreDip spray is not 100% necessary, it just works very well. Soap, water and then rubbing alcohol can work too

    Signature P85+ Retrofit

Awesome. Congrats and enjoy! I wonder how many service centers are going to get hammered with phone calls today..

Blacked out Window Trim with Plasti Dip

There is a step by step video on youtube - Tesla Model S Black Out Window Trim with Plasti Dip - YouTube I dont want to post the video feed here as I am not an authorized TMC vendor and want to respect the forum rules.

Blacked out Window Trim with Plasti Dip

It's actually extremely durable. I've had the a single application on a pair of S4 wheels for over 28 months

I want 21" Staggered Wheels for my P85

Awesome! Can't wait to see your results. I'm about 4 weeks away from 9" fronts and 10.5" rears. Post some pics!

P85 loses grip off the line when I floor it. Do I need wider rims?

I'm rolling with OEM 21's now (non + P85). Just ordered staggered aftermarket, 9" fronts and 10.5" rears. Hopefully I'll have some positive feedback to report re: increased traction and handling.

New VMR710s 22" wheels on the MS

Nice! What offset? Did the hub match up or are you using hub rings?
  29. F

Offset for aftermarket wheels? (10.5" rears)

I'm assuming if I do 9" fronts, they will stay at 40mm. If I want 10.5" rears, anyone know what offset to go for? Would that differ depending if the aftermarket wheels were 22" vs 21"?

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Hopefully! I've been searching the heck out of this great forum and have learned something as easy as being taken off a transport truck can bump the alignment out of whack. The car was trucked from NC to FL this past week, so it needs a good inspection from Tesla Service anyway. I'm hoping to...

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

I wish I could think of an effective way to shoot a video demonstrating the situation. If you could imagine going 20mph, keeping the wheel straight and flooring the throttle - instead of the car pulling dead straight on a line, the nose would drift left/right and need to be corrected to stay...

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Continental Extreme Contact, look approx 80% new. 21" OEM turbines (standard P85, not +)
  33. F

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Going to dealership tomorrow - hoping they have time for an alignment check. The more I test this, the more it almost feels like under hard throttle the nose of the car wobbles left to right instead of following a straight line.
  34. F

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Checked torque specs on lug nuts today, and they were right at 129 ft lbs.. So I checked that off the list. Going in to visit the dealership tomorrow. Hopefully I can have someone drive the car and give me an idea of what's going on.
  35. F

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Well for me it's certainly reality. Reality in the sense that if I accelerate under full throttle, keep the wheel straight, and don't correct - I'll be in another lane lol
  36. F

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

Thank you for the feedback. Is purchasing the wider OEM wheels an option, or am I looking at aftermarket at this point? - - - Updated - - - I'm not sure I would say the back wobbles. It feels like even if already going 40mph, under full throttle the car actually strafes left to right and...

Car skates or slides left to right under hard acceleration

I touched on this in another post, but I put some time in today to get a better understanding regarding my concern. I did numerous runs, 0-60, 30-90, etc.. all keeping a close eye on what I was doing with the steering wheel vs how the car behaved. It's very clear that under hard throttle, even...

Great thank you. Do you know offhand the torque specs?

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

I found a couple links with people running 285's in the rear. The wheels I'm looking at are only offered in 20" and 22", not 21". 22" x 9" fronts, but 22" x 10.5 for rears going to fit? I'm getting my google work on, but not finding much

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

I have an appointment set for Monday morning. Worth them taking a look over the car since it was pre-owned
  42. F

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

I've been driving around in standard mode. I'm wheel shopping at the moment.. I think it's obvious that I missed the boat on the "+" on my P85.. but hoping some fat rears will help a bit.
  43. F

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

I can imagine that would be a huge help! How much of it would be improved with me putting wider wheels on the back? (I believe the P85+ rears are 20mm wider) I haven't seen too many with aftermarket wheels
  44. F

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

Just called the service down here in Dania, FL. Service Manager said he assumes it's the AC compressor working extra hard in the FL heat. Next time it happens, turn OFF AC, see if the noise stops. If it does, I'm good. If it doesn't, bring it in. One thing I'm just not used to in this car...

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

That's what I needed to hear. I've only had the car for about a week - so I don't want to start raising flags on things that may be daily driving norms. Thanks dude

Buzzing/Vibration at certain times - felt in steering wheel

Hey guys new member. I tried using the search tool but haven't found anything that seems to reflect the issue I'm noticing. At random times, sometimes even at a stop light, I can hear and feel a fast buzzing vibration from the front of the car through the steering wheel. Anyone ever see or...
