Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

In my experience, the key was pointing the service team towards SB-21-39-001 part. I think there's an explanation in there somewhere.

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

It does not account for environment changes. The use case is purely the long winding english countryside driveway. That's not to say that a Tesla wouldn't have the computational horsepower to account for these type of changes if they were to implement this feature.

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

BMW has a feature called the "Backup Assistant." It's a feature that helps drivers reverse in tight spaces. It can be used when leaving parking spaces or maneuvering in confined spaces like winding driveways. It works by remembering how the driver drove into a spot and then automatically...

Service Bulletin out on Hard Acceleration "Shudder"

Thank you @blodg1 this was very helpful. My original quote was over $2,100. I shared this image with them along with the guidance "I think the key is the code 1751594-00-A for the full parts set, which unlocks the favorable pricing." They came back with a quote of around $400 ($350 for the part...

How is my '22 MSLR in the snow?

Winter tires are a much bigger deal that AWD in terms of snow safety. AWD doesn't help you stop.

Do you have shudder on hard acceleration? AKA death rattle?

It's been a minnit. Has anyone validated that SB-21-39-001 offers new and improved parts that (relatively) permanently fix the problem? I'm at the beginning of experiencing this issue.

    Safety Score

I've also been dinged for hard braking when I'm quite confident I did not engage in hard braking. I know that the support page indicates that it's measuring .3g negative acceleration or more--but I wonder: is it also measuring force against the pedal? Reason I ask: I like auto hold...

    Has anyone gotten V9?

It might help to know the year of your car. That way we would have a shot at understanding whether you might need the FSD computer (which would be a free upgrade). I'm guessing your car came with the FSD option, but you are on an older version of the hardware--so Tesla is obligated to upgrade...

    FSD Beta for MCU1 cars

Have there been any cars that upgraded to MCU2 in the beta, or simply cars that were originally provisioned with MCU2?

    Plaid+ CANCELLED

I think your statement is almost certainly true. But I still think it was silly to announce something that will deliver in a year. Let's see when Lucid actually delivers and how it's received. If the Dream is real, then I suspect Tesla will mobilize

    Plaid+ CANCELLED

I think it was pretty silly to announce the Plaid+ a year out and describe it so specifically, particularly WRT to 520 miles of range. All you're doing is setting tough expectations and constraining yourself. I doubt the range part is "cancelled," but when it arrives was probably subject to the...

Model S Plaid Tesla's "Best Car Ever" ? Elon's exaggerating...

At the time of its launch, which is significantly before the Plaid+, it will be Tesla's best car ever. And then Elon gets to say the same thing all over again when they launch the Plaid+!

Sentry Mode battery usage 7% per day

I guess the question then becomes "what security goals can you accomplish for $920 or less that remove the need for sentry mode?" Like: is there more secure parking available at that price nearby? Probably not in the Bay. Not sure what else you can do.

    2021.4.12

If the "Download FSD" button really materializes, I imagine it would be hidden behind a feature flag that can be set over LTE to expose when they want to roll out. So, you might have that button and not be aware of it!

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

I "but then had to pay" because it wasn't free, not because I felt it wasn't worth $1500. I was just trying hypothesize as to why some folks got HW3 free with their MCU2 and some didn't.
  21. dmicah

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

Wouldn't this just be about whether you ordered your car with FSD, in which case HW3 is a free upgrade to HW2/HW2.5? I got my HW upgraded free but then had to pay $1500 to upgrade MC1==>MCU2 (which was super worth it).

FSD Upgrade: How long did you have to wait?

I had the free upgrade to the FSD computer done on my 2017, and I had to wait only a week or so in the Palm Springs area. Mobile service. This was about a month or so back. Tam went after the upgrade earlier, when there was a bit more of a backlog. I doubt you get much more functionality till...

    MCU1 vs MCU2

I have upgraded. I had previously upgraded to HW3, and running HW3/MCU1 lead to some problems in terms of responsiveness and crashing of the IC and touchscreen. With the upgrade, the screen is of course more responsive and no longer intensely irritating. Dashcam and Sentry mode now work...

MCU2 Upgrade with radio - question on FM?

As you're a Boeing pilot, and I'm from Seattle, I'd be delighted to tell you the answer to this when I get my car back with the tuner upgrade. Unfortunately, they were doing both the MCU2 and Tuner upgrade and they've been struggling to get the firmware right so they've had it since Tuesday...
