Winter is coming. Best All-weather tire and rims for snow and mixed conditions?

I took delivery of my MY 7 seater in February and promptly put it to the test in a snowstorm in the mountains of N. Arizona. It passed with flying colors, but I’m pretty sure I will want all-weather tire that are snow rated come December. Does anyone know of good options for the Gemini wheels...

I can’t tell you what damage was prevented. It was prevented. I will say that a lot of ice and dirt stayed in the wheel well instead of getting plastered on the rear of the vehicle, which is a pretty fair indicator that they did something worthwhile.

    Mud flaps & Model Y

Took her skiing today, Scottsdale to Arizona Snowboal. In a major snowstorm, i saw SUV’s, Land Rovers and a plow(!!!) ran off the road. The model Y felt mostly safe and got us there safely. I will get winter or all weather tires for next season. I’m happy with the OEM flap and PPF.

Best interest rate via Tesla financing?

I have to say, I’m pretty happy with DCU. I think I’ll keep a savings account with them. I was able to setup some of my paycheck direct deposit to them, and the rest to my current bank. They off 6%(!) on the first $1000 in your savings account, and 1.74% for 65 months at 99.5% financed on...

    Mud flaps & Model Y

Did the PPF do its job? Or did it still get scratched around there? I bought the Tesla flaps, and some aftermarket Chinese ones for the back. My car is getting PPF in the full front and in that area in the back as I post this. I’m hoping the combination will keep it chip free, as I too...

It’s just a bolt and washer. 10mm, nothing fancy. The thread is kind of fine, which is sort of unusual but that’s all. I unscrewed it with my impact driver, put the flap on, screwed it on again with the driver, and called it a day. 5 minutes per side.

7-seater, 3'row access with child seats installed on 2'row

The seats split and tilt 60-40, the middle seat back does come down but be aware that there is a steel bar that sticks out which kids must navigate. My 11 year old bruised himself the first day learning this.

    Came Back to Tesla!

That’s what will make letting go of my BMW convertible so hard. I love the inline six and the six speed manual. But it seems so slow and primitive now.

    Mud flaps & Model Y

I put on OEM tonight. It looks to me like their profile matches the tire, so I am pretty happy with it. I guess we’ll see how well they protect over time. On the passengers side, I did notice that the plastic was misaligned, a tab that should have been under another piece was overlapping...

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. I am fortunate, and I've worked hard to be this fortunate. I also have 4 kids educations I have to pay for, but then again I paid my own way for my own. I go back and forth on this. I'd love to get the free money, but I also recognize I don't need the free...

I am a software engineer, not an automotive engineer, so my opinions are that of a novice. 1.) I grabbed the tape measure and I see the side arm rests measure 41" across. The Y is roughly 6' (72") across at that point, and the motor and axles are underneath the passengers at that point. So...

7-seater, 3'row access with child seats installed on 2'row

Yes. A forward facing seat should be fine; if I think back to the size of the Britax seats we had I think those would be no issue. But I’d bring a seat into Tesla store and actually test the one I have.

7-seater, 3'row access with child seats installed on 2'row

I’ve got the 7 se i took delivery of my 7 seater. With the drivers seat in place, I can say with 100% certainty that I would not have room to move that 2nd row forward and tip it to get access to the third row with a rearward facing baby seat in place.

One more thing: It is heresy to say this in these forums, but you might be better off with a proper minivan. It could be a Pacifica. But if I were in your shoes I’d do the minivan as the people mover, and 7 seater as secondary/emergency for the whole fam.

I’d put their car seats on the 60% side, next to each other. Then use the 40% side for ingress/egress. Hate to say it but your wife is right. Consolation prizes: Y dual motor LR is plenty fast, and she gave you three kids. Be grateful for both!

Best interest rate via Tesla financing?

Correct. I just got done talking to them; you must have a free checking and indicate intent for direct deposit at time off origination. I’m not certain that they have a claw back provision, however. It may be possible to remove the direct deposit later with no penalty, and just have it...

SR Y paper says 2 motors?

I know someone who forced the dealership to replace the vinyl portions on the back and trim of seats with real leather. The sticker specified leather seats, but portions of the seat (from Nissan, iirc) used cheaper vinyl in places. They complained, and got custom stitched leather seats. I’d...

Maybe I’m lazy or inattentive, but I have never seen an ETA date. I placed my order on 3/18/2019. In the scheme of things, though, if they need an extra couple weeks or even months to get their act together on painting my car and putting it together correctly, I’m down with that. In software...
