"WHEN" Tesla adds Way Points the built in Nav system !!

First 1200 mile road trip experience in the 21 MY

The problem with that is on weekends the parking is so challenging that it's unlikely you will find a charger and many times ICE cars will just park there. I topped it off at fishcamp to 100% and that seemed to work pretty good.

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

@a2t2 I think 20% range loss for one bike. @ecarfan I'm only carrying one 32 lb bike and the rack is about 40 lbs so I should be good. I used this rack with a similar hitch on my older car with 3 bikes from san diego to snow summit and it was fine the entire way. I'm planning on getting a 1up...

First 1200 mile road trip experience in the 21 MY

Yeah, I use ABRP as a framework and decided how long I wanted to charge. I usually charged longer because I had wanted a longer break and took my time which saved me 1 extra charging stop. I got nervous when I yosemite because there were no supercharges around and we were in the mountains with...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10159279248089481&set=pcb.1212611505828388 It's confirmed that Tesla pretty much uses either the draw-tite hitch or something just like it. Someone on FB posted pics of the Tesla Ranger installing the hitch at his house which he purchased as part of his delivery.

First 1200 mile road trip experience in the 21 MY

We took our first road trip from San Diego to Yosemite then to Santa Cruz, Monterey, SLO, Solvang, Irvine, and then home. I was a little bit nervous, especially around Yosemite since there weren't that many charging options around the mountains. I did a lot of research and reading and combined...

    FSD: auto lane change

I wouldn't trust it either. I still look for merges and specific situations and if there are a lot of cars around. However it does a pretty decent job on it's own. I've found it changes lanes too often and there's no way to turn it off easily. I just go into the setting and set it to require...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

@63AMG The Mercedes is nowhere near the capabilities of the Tesla in terms of lane keep assist. Mine bounces all over the place and sometimes crosses the line. The Tesla is pretty centered in the lane. No denying the fact that the Mercedes is 10 times nicer and 10 times more confortable...

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

Looks great @Tedkidd That bike looks pretty close to the bumper, especially that pedal. Is that the double D rack?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Has anyone tried the cargo bay cover trick to reduce the space inside the trunk? What about filling the trunk with acoustic foam or a carpet remnant just to see if it makes a difference. The mountainpass coilover just minimizes the jar which reduces the boom but probably doesn't fix the root...

    Smart summon in the mornings

I just wanted the car at the front door waiting for instead of the garage. This will be helpful for people with unattached garages. Its like calling a cab and have the car waiting outside for you with the right temperature and music playing. With homelink, it should be doable but sounds like...

    Smart summon in the mornings

Is there a way to do this? Wake up and enable smart summon so it will open the garage door, pull straight out, close garage door, start AC, lock doors. It'll be ready for me to come out to goto work. I wonder if there will be a built in feature or api so we can write simple routines.

Tow hitches with Model 3 [discussion]

Because you can't install FSD aftermarket and an aftermarket trailer hitch which does the same job will save you over 1000 which you can spend elsewhere.

2021 MYP getting flashed by opposing traffic :(

I know there's a setting where it turns on when it doesn't detect any drivers ahead and turns them off when it sees a car.

Would you still buy a Model Y now if you could do it again?

I agree with that has been said and I don't to be a pipe cleaner for a new plant in the first year. 5 years sounds about right. Also don't forget we must convert everything to Elon years. Things take time.

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

FYI: Here's a picture of the OEM hitch for the model X. Similar design where it replaces the aluminum with a steel bumper beam.

Would you still buy a Model Y now if you could do it again?

Tesla Superchargers for me was the biggest factor which makes owning an EV viable. (For just going to work and being local, any EV will do.) It still needs work on getting the 360 degree overhead parking view and I still feel the HVAC isn't as good as other cars. No regrets on the MY. The next...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

This is false and misleading. The guy in the video clearly states it's aftermarket and the one they've installed is the ecohitch which they've also linked.

Waze, Model Y and Cell phone holder

If anyone is looking for the Temai motorized version let me know. I have a new one I can sell at a discount. I'm going to stick with the OEM wireless charger in the center console.

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Also, in terms of the plastic panel, I went ahead and cut off all the tabs except one on the top and bottom. I epoxied 2 horizontal magnets and double layered them so it's closer to the hitch and works great. It's not touching the hitch but it's strong enough to hold it in place. I can remove...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Thanks for the pic @MikeInFL If Tesla replaces their bumper beam then I feel good about any aftermarket option which does the same. I'd go with a well known company like Draw-Tite. The EcoHitch is also a great option. We three great options. It's really just an option of keeping the bumper...

  24. J

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Let us know what you find about the OEM hitch, if it indeed replaces the bumper beam. That may be telling. Would another car's bumper hit above the hitch and not hit the hitch first?

Lexus RX 350 to Model Y

I own both the 2010 RX350 and 2021 Mercedes GLE450. I agree with what most have said here. The RX350 is boring BUT it's so reliable and it just works! The Mercedes is 10x more comfortable and the interior is so much nicer. Being a bigger car, it's so much easier to drive and park mostly due...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Video brings up good points however that aluminum crash beam is pretty light and minimal. The steel hitch is a lot more rigid and both uses the same mounts so the energy will be dissipated to the same area as designed by Tesla. I don't agree with the comments on insurance. If you have full...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

I only took this pic. I had wanted to put my concentration on everything fitting perfect and that I didn't forget any screws. As you can see, the draw-tite hitch replaces the silver bumper beam. (trading aluminum for steel). Note also the two eyelets on top of the receiver. You can hook to...
  28. J

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Using a pry tool, basically a plastic lever, I would start in the upper right quadrant and work your way around. It's pretty easy to do but I can see that removing on and off a lot would cause the tabs to break eventually. Perhaps a magnetic mod would be best.
  29. J

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

I didn't add the wiring harness because my intent was only to tow a bike around.
  30. J

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

I've finally installed this. It's a hitch and it hides behind the access plate. I'm only going to use it to tow one bike. One thing most people don't know is that this one replaces the current bumper beam with a much heavier beam. This will save a little bit of weight. Since it uses the same...

    Inaccurate Range Stressed New Owner

From all this reading and learning from others, it seems like for a new owner, it's best to just look at battery percentage then for each leg, plan 15% SOC arrival and charge up to 65%. That seems to give the fastest travel times. However, ABRP has a few legs where I only SC for 6 minutes...

    Inaccurate Range Stressed New Owner

I'm new to EV and I'm also concerned with the range, I guess you guys call this range anxiety. Is 10% buffer really enough? What if the last section is an uphill? Wouldn't you risk running out of juice? If you try to ride the curve between 10%-60%, which means frequent stops wouldn't you have...

I think the MY is trying to do me harm!

I'm not sure what markers you were referring to but the left line was solid and the right one comes and goes since it opens because when there are no cars parked on the right, it sees it as a wide lane and then when there is a car parked later on, it thinks it's a car which pulled in front of...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

https://www.draw-tite.com/product/76430_class-iii-trailer-hitch#product-fitguide-content Take a look at the "Applications" tab. It clearly says 2021 Tesla Y and estimates 120 minute install.

I think the MY is trying to do me harm!

I drove my 2021 mercedes today and in comparison that auto lane assist kept bouncing back and forth between the lines. Tesla was more reliable and strict. I've also found that the turning radius on the MY is pretty poor. btw. my energy graph shows in 30 miles I average 250 Wh/mi

I think the MY is trying to do me harm!

Yeah, at this point navigate on autopilot is a bit useless, hopefully it'll get a lot better because it wasn't a cheap option. I've removed my range question/comment as I've found many threads on it. Here in socal the traffic speeds is usually 80mph, slower and you're holding people up. I also...

I think the MY is trying to do me harm!

I've been playing with navigate on autopilot and there were two instances which freaks me out. It happened on more than one occasion. 1- I'm in the right lane on the freeway and that lane allows you to continue on the highway or it exits. The car was going pretty fast and didn't slow down to...

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Since I haven't received any response, I've taken the liberty in ordering one and hope for the best. I'll report back once I get it installed and hopefully this will save others a bunch of money so you can spend it on more accessories. Accessories which should've come stock ;)

    Model Y hitch (Draw-Tite)

Has anyone installed the hitch from Draw-Tite model 76430 which was designed exclusively for the MY? It's quite a bit cheaper than the Torklift and having had Draw-Tite hitches in the past, they seem fine for my bike toting needs. Was wondering if their design allows the use of the cover plate...

    Noob questions for 21 MY

    - I've noticed that I can't unlock the car with my phone unless it's pretty close to the door. I keep it in my back pocket and it doesn't recognize it unless I turn and face my butt to the door handle. - Not being able to put in multiple destinations is pretty annoying when trying to plan for...

    Noob questions for 21 MY

I've taken delivery a few days ago and I've been watching a lot of YT videos and I haven't been able to figure out the following things: 1. When I park, how do I get it to show the front camera? 2. With autopilot on city streets, it would follow a car but once it's stopped at a red light it...

    California LR AWD Waiting Room

Did they ever deliver on ANY of the LR RWD vehicles or did that really get canceled? What did they do with the customers who already placed a deposit? Any reason to go for an immediate delivery or wait till June if there is no rush?

    California waiting room Q4

I've placed my order for a LR RWD on Oct. 2019 and I'm still waiting :( I was lucky to be able to lock in the FSD for $6k though. I would've done better just putting that 2.5K into the stock market.
  47. J

    Is $10K too much?

    Probably not.

    Is $10K too much?

I'm in the market for my first X and have been mulling over the FSD. I would get it if there is value to me. I love the idea of being able to taxi myself to work everyday, that might be worth (20min commute each way). So I see it this way. I have no intentions of using this as a a robotaxi...

Those with (2) drivers using (2) different key FOBS....questions.

Darn, that would be a cool feature. Still trying to decide my options I'm already leaning away from FSD. It's nice to have but I'd probably won't not use it enough to warrant the $10k.
