How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

I thought they were the same, and the SC just swapped it out and into the replacement yoke/wheel. But I hope you're right, in which case when they finally to make the new wheel or yoke available in the Tesla store, it will hopefully be closer to that $700. I'd rather change cars than pay $1800...

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

The problem is that the updated wheel and yoke use a different airbag, so it will be more expensive ($1800 from the rumors).

How long did it take you to get used to the stalk-less turn signals?

About 8 months into the refresh Model S. Got used to the turn buttons fairly quickly, but still find myself with the wrong signal on here and there when coming out of complex driving situations where your muscle memory and/or intuition takes over. I can live with that, but there have been many...

Round steering wheel retrofit no longer available?

Could be because there is a new version of the wheel coming in the Model S/X refresh-refresh, with airbag horn and a button for the camera. Hopefully that new wheel will be available as a retrofit for all the refresh S/X's.

Clicking noise while turning the yoke - 2022 Model S

That's pretty common, they quote the price of the repair even if/when covered by warranty. It ends up as $0 on the invoice.

Clicking noise while turning the yoke - 2022 Model S

Yup, the service center "adjusted" a sheer plate and the noise disappeared.

Refreshed Model S - rear seat rattle

One way to deal with the rattle is to have your service center fix it under warranty. It’s a known issue, and I just had had mine done. They replaced the latch mechanism on the drivers side and the entire seat back on the passenger (as that side is an integrated unit). No more rattles.

Looks like Tesla brought back the standard range Model S and X!

I have a feeling that the standard 320 mile rated range will be closer to what you can actually get in the real world vs the long range 405, plus given it’s most likely software limited, you can charge to 100%. And for long trips, that 405 rated range is actually overkill given how...

WTB Model S 2021+ 19” Tempest or others? [Expired]

Hi Shawn, sorry, I just decided that I'd rather wait until I have the new wheels on next week before pulling the trigger on selling the Tempests. Will let you know when they're back for sale.

WTB Model S 2021+ 19” Tempest or others? [Expired]

I just posted a listing for mine, in the Chicago area. 3K miles, with the Continental ProContact RX tires if you're interested: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/marketplace/19-model-s-refresh-plaid-tempest-wheels-tires-with-3k-miles-chicago-area.201/

Model S existing inventory and pricing

Yeah, there's a lot of talk about more competition and other factors, but interest rates are the single biggest reason the Model S and X aren't selling as well as before. Most people finance cars, and higher interest rates make the more higher ends ones especially out of reach. FWIW, Elon was...

Model S existing inventory and pricing

I ended up buying a late 2022 MS LR with under 3K miles and FSD from an Audi dealer who just wanted it gone, for 60% of the original sale price. Even with the price drops since late last year, that's insane depreciation (probably 50% based on what the guy probably traded it in for). Happy to be...

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

Thanks, pretty exciting watching the last few minutes of the auction.

FS: 2021 Model S, Red with Cream Interior, FSD, 21" Arachnid Wheels, 15k miles, Under Warranty

It’s actually surprisingly nicer in person than in photos, and goes better with the walnut trim (vs the white). white is best with carbon fiber but you gotta go plaid to get that.

New 2022 MS buyer, need help

True, that 82K is for basic white in black with the 19” wheels. But in general optional features don’t get valued much in the used market. Will just come down to what you can negotiate and/or are comfortable with. There is also the risk of Tesla dropping prices on the MS some more, but who knows.

New 2022 MS buyer, need help

People aren't getting anything close to their asking price, so it's probably a matter of aggressive negotiation. A good reference point is new inventory cars in Tesla existing inventory, in my area there are a bunch at 82-83K. That's brand new, with all the latest hardware. Relative to that, it...

New 2022 MS buyer, need help

this is a good comp, 22 with 3K miles, sold for $69K on Cars and Bids. I just picked up a late 22 with less than 3K and FSD for 74K (from an Audi dealer). with that mileage, assuming late enough in 2022 to get the minor refresh (headlights, etc) and swivel screen, I'd say low to mid 60s would...

New 2022 MS buyer, need help

This is correct. Tesla hasn't offered any sort of options or packages since around 2018, other than color options, wheels, seating config (for the X), tow hitch, and Enhanced AP / FSD. Simplified production but made the cars more boring, IMO.

New 2022 MS buyer, need help

You can see all the incremental changes to the Model S here: https://tesla-info.com/model-history/MS And yeah, of course there will be more ongoing changes / improvements, that's how Tesla rolls. Hope you're getting a great deal on a 22 with that many miles.

WTB: Tempest 19 inch wheels in Chicago area for my 2022 Model S

No, I haven’t pulled the trigger on new wheels/tires yet. Lmk if you’re interested in the Tempests.

    Aftermarket ventilated seats

    Very much, thanks!

    Aftermarket ventilated seats

They look great. Would you be able to share what this ended up costing, at least ballpark? And did you compare the custom leather kits from TSportline, by any chance?

Is it crazy to go with the 21" Arachnids in the Chicago area?

Only if I really hated my life or the car.
  26. danp

Is it crazy to go with the 21" Arachnids in the Chicago area?

Finally got the refresh MS LR and need to decide what to do wheel wise.....I can't stand the look of the 19" Tempests with or without the cheap plastic covers. I can either pick up used 21" Arachnids with the Pilot Sport all seasons, and hope I don't run over a big enough pothole, or go for...

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

Yup...people tend to be more vocal with negative viewpoints. AP1 is better for highway because it was optimized for that within a local maximum. With FSD, Tesla has mostly focused on city driving because that's a much harder problem to solve, at the expense of fine tuning the highway...

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

I was mostly testing the waters with the 2022 MS after I bought it as I had some regrets about letting go of the P85D+. But I started to like the 2022 much more after swapping the yoke for the steering wheel - it's such a huge difference in drive-ability and overall feel of the car. Still a...

July 2023 and AP1 is still a better driving experience on Interstates than FSDb

So I just bought a 22 MSLR with FSD because it was a killer deal, and in the process of selling my 2015 P85D+ with everything including full AP1. There's already a long list of things I'm going to miss deeply like real leather, the massive pano sunroof that opens, stalks, the super tight...

Totaled a Model S that had unlimited supercharging... who could I beg for the trade in credit on a new one?

I've never heard of Tesla of making exceptions for any rule/policy. You typically can't even escalate issues to anyone.
  31. danp

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

Well, I'd be happier if it sold for more than that, but with no reserve it's basically rolling the dice. At least it would be more exciting than selling to Carvana. 🤣

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

Thanks for sharing that. As of right now I'm planning on a no reserve auction, so this wouldn't be relevant. But good to know how they deal with this kind of situation.

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

This deal beat that - 74K for late 2022 with 3K miles and FSD.
  35. danp

Why are TSportline wheels so much more expensive than Replikas?

Yup, although the 20” MW05s are $950 so almost 6K with tires, TPMS, etc. And obviously stronger but only 3 or so lbs lighter vs the TSS/TS5s and the R264s.
  36. danp

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

I just missed the big inventory discounts but found a great deal on an almost new 22 MSLR at an Audi dealership that just wanted it off their hands. but I should have pulled the trigger on the end of quarter discount.

2015 P85D with "plus" suspension, rear facing jump seats (seats 7), free unlimited supercharging, MCU2, 52K miles

Last bump and price change to $35K before Cars and Bids auction this week.
  38. danp

Why are TSportline wheels so much more expensive than Replikas?

TSportline claims it manufactures their wheels in the US, and it looks like Replika (owned by Fast Wheels) sources from multiple oversea factories. And I found this article by TSporline since posting this - obviously self serving but it does call out a few other things like "hub centering". Not...

Why are TSportline wheels so much more expensive than Replikas?

Both are exactly the same weight (29lbs).

Why are TSportline wheels so much more expensive than Replikas?

Trying to decide what to replace the 19" Tempests on the Model S long range I just picked up. Pretty much settled on a 20" x 10" square setup, and debating between the TSportline TSS or TS5s, or the Replika 264s (which are basically a copy of the Arachnids). I've narrowed it down to these...

Clicking noise while turning the yoke - 2022 Model S

In case others have this clicking problem, it turned out to be the sheer plate. Service center adjusted while swapping out the yoke for a steering wheel, and it's completely silent now.

WTB: Tempest 19 inch wheels in Chicago area for my 2022 Model S

I'm about to order some aftermarket wheels for my 22 MSLR and will have the OEM 19" Tempests with Continental ProContact RX tires available. They have 3K miles on them. DM if interested, not sure what the going price for these are.

Not Available Any interest in an Aug 2022 Model S long range with only 3K miles and pre-paid FSD? (NO LONGER FOR SALE)

$80K, but the car won't be available for at least a few weeks. I think you posted on profile vs leaving a message, and I'm not sure what to do with those. In any case, I'm not interested in a private trade - trading to Tesla is much more advantageous for sales tax and convenience reasons.
  44. danp

Pull trigger on Inventory Model X or any price drop expected?

Lol here we go again....discounts on all MS (and I think MX) inventory demos just increased by 1K, at least the ones in this area.
  45. danp

Are Arachnids OK, or should I consider Signature or T-Sportline Wheels as replacements for Tempest

I'm in the same boat, also looking to swap out the ugly Tempests. Leaning towards TSportline TSS or TS5 as they have more of an OEM look than most other aftermarket wheels. 20" square. One thing to ponder is whether to keep the original wheels, because trading the car in down the road back to...

Pull trigger on Inventory Model X or any price drop expected?

You can see all the existing inventory cars online, discounts of around 7K on the X. Who knows what Tesla will do next, but probably nothing until close to end of quarter.

Not Available Any interest in an Aug 2022 Model S long range with only 3K miles and pre-paid FSD? (NO LONGER FOR SALE)

Well honestly I am actually considering "downgrading" to an MYP because the MS is overkill for mostly very local driving here and there. No, would only consider an almost new MYP.
