My MX 2017 Jan build has no aux 12v either. Was quite surprised.

    Model 3 paint wearing off

Other cars do not send that many sand on the car. My complete PPF got ripped (see previous posts) . And normal paint is not as strong as a PPF.

    Model 3 paint wearing off

Here we go. I am at 25 000 km on this picture. no offroad. Never happened on any other vehicules always in the same climate... even my "old" Model S 2014 survived flawlessly. It seems like this car redirects rocks directly on the car. Last picture is to show I do have full PPF. (matte)

Charging Model 3 via HPWC - "Voltage Too High"

Friends home, so 120/240. Pool pump broke down (melted) on the next day. 7kw maximum due to mobile connector limitation I guess.

Charging Model 3 via HPWC - "Voltage Too High"

Here is my highest voltage ;) 287v ! And that was on a Tesla mobile charger. Didn't know I would catch this thing at a friend's house. (Most certainly a problem with the Utility)

    Early 75/75D pack degradation

Actually, few friends of mine told me they get full supercharger speed up until "100%" on their 60 locked Model X. So... your assumption might be wrong. supercharging would be verrrry slow if the 100% was a real 100% on the locked 60.

Drove more than 50k miles... any scheduled maintenance after that?

Hi, I bought a CPO that was just under 50k miles... So it came with another 50k miles / 4 years bumper - bumper warranty. Went a few times since then @ service center, and nobody told me about any scheduled maintenance. My best guess would be that it most probably still needs maintenance. Is...

More aggressive (sooner) supercharge taper on latest firmware?

I've got the same pattern as you. 55 000 miles here. Though I get 100kw at 30%, with less mileage. Maybe it s more related to the firmware version rather than mileage?
  27. fcharland

Range anxiety after almost 5 yrs??

I can tell you... Tesla navigation isn't programmed (or badly programmed) to estimate properly at cold temperatures. It's doing fine at normal temperatures though. I learned it the hard way.
  28. fcharland

More aggressive (sooner) supercharge taper on latest firmware?

50.2 here too. And tested supercharging at VERY low temps of minus 13 F. That removes the hot handle problem. I got 118kw at start (5%) up to about 20%, then fell back to 100kw at 30%, and then slowly went to 70kw at 60%, 50kw or so at 80%.

Tesla App now shows battery heater?

This battery heater thing is very confusing. Here's what happens all the time up north: It's -16c / 3f Battery shows as "cold" See snow flake on the battery gauge in 1 of the pictures. But this time, the battery heater icon never showed up. The day before, there was not even a snowflake...

Range anxiety after almost 5 yrs??

I drive a somewhat "old" model S 85 2014, and last week I did Montreal to Niagara Falls. That is a ~700km / 434 miles drive. Brace yourselves, it was -25c or -13F if you prefer (!). It gets worse, wind chill was at -37c or -34f. My 0 % was indeed a 0, even with that extreme temperature. So...

    New Model S 75 UMC GEN2 issues.

Electrician here... This error means there is a problem after the UMC's power contactor. So probably a bad crimp somewhere in the UMC. If there was a problem with the wall socket, the UMC wouldn't glow green at first when it's plugged in without charging anything. Replace the UMC, and you...

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

I know for a fact, since I took the picture recently at Montreal service Center... they now have a DCS "+" battery for 1 st gen. (Don't know if it's the same one for 2nd gen) Here it is:

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

It is... And it outputs 12v only. Below 50V, there is no problem with it being always on.
  36. fcharland

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

You are right that the vampire drain isn't solved. But the 12v battery drain is. The Model S face lift still has it's external DC-DC. But from what I have been told there, they added a very small one just to get the basic systems online without draining the 12V Battery. 1 mile in 3 weeks...

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

Oh then I misunderstood what you were asking. So yeah... Nobody at the SvC wanted to tell me what happened the contactors. All I know is that the 12v battery drained in less than 3 hours of parking at family's (maybe less).

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

Hey Scott, A little technical background is needed to be explained, but let's just say that once the 12V battery is at a certain % of charge, your Tesla needs to close the main battery pack contactors, in order to energise the DC-DC converter that will charge back your 12V battery. Since the...

  41. fcharland

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

... And will reduce main contactors wear, since they'll need to cycle a lot less. I'm getting out of the SvC, for a problem with the main 400v contactors... S85 2014 pre facelift.

    Multiple NEMA 14-50

As for multiple HPWC using the same circuit, make sure you run a signal wire along with your mains. Those units negotiate with each other using this additional cable.
  43. fcharland

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

I also have been told the facelifts do have in integrated dc-dc in the battery pack. Very small, 100w. It can power the main contactor coil as well as the BCM that looks out for your wireless keys. That reduces the # of cycles on the main contactors as well as on the 12v battery

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech
