    THUNK from rear suspension

Anyone else experience a loud THUNK from their MY rear suspension when going over bumps/bumpy roads. It's jarring. It's almost like there's a big book in the right rear trunk area, that slams down when you hit a bump. Is it just the stiff as hell suspension and my crappy rutty roads? I also...

    Rear seat covers for dogs

Anyone have a recommendation for a rear seat cover for dogs? Would prefer one where I could still fold seats down or have the kiddo still sit on it... Google leads to a lot of generic versions. Hoping someone here has experience. Thanks!

Winter handling Subaru vs dual-motor model Y

I've found the opposite as the OP, although I admittedly have more variables than he does. And my opinion isn't rooted in any technical knowledge of how the systems work... I do think torque plays a big role in the difference for me. We have a 2013 outback with studded tires and we have...

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

The tires on there are larger diameter than stock... And no, you can't go much bigger without rubbing either 1) the front suspension knuckle or 2) the wheel wells on full turn. If you get a lower offset wheel you might overcome the knuckle problem, but your wheels will stick out a lot... And I...

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

TBH I have no idea. They recommended the brand, I chose the style I liked, and they put em on there. They haven't fallen off yet, so I assume they are ok! I suppose I could ask?

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

What wheels and tires you got there?
  7. T

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

No, not at all. The ride isn't affected by the lift. The MPP lift is just spacers... Doesn't affect springs or anything. It's still a harsh ride!

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

I was skittish looking at 18" rims not knowing if they'd fit over the brakes... But the shop I worked with had fit some other Black Rhino rotary forged wheels on a Model Y... So they were confident. I didn't look at too many other options... There's always Martian wheels which are super light...

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

There's a few things that pushed me that way 1) natural laziness I'd be washing it every time I drive it! 2) I live in a small mountain town and feel enough like a city boy with a Tesla, so a dirty Tesla makes me a little less out of place 3) I'm planning to drive it for a long time, so...

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

I thought about wrapping it - but didn't want to spend the $4k only to have the wrap get dirty so you can't see it. This isn't a show car for me to make videos of on YouTube - it's my daily driver. I haven't wrapped my Subaru or big ole van either.... haven't had issues. Maybe I'll regret it...

Lifted, smaller wheels, bigger tires - update

I posted in a few other threads about lifting my MY, putting on 18" wheels and larger diameter tires. I have 1500-2000 miles on the new setup now, and thought I'd post an update in case anyone else is considering it. First - here's a photo - nice and dirty like I like it. It's got the MPP...

Rear Defrost? Not working as Expected?

We just had a big snow... Rear defrost got rid of the snow, but the rear window fogged up and I couldn't see through it, so I thought it hadn't gotten rid of the snow. I blasted the air and it cleared up no problem. Not saying that's what happened to you, just sharing my rear defroster story.

19" Michelin X-Ice SNOW - Has anyone got them?

I've got about 1500 miles on Vikingcontacts 7s on my MY. I have the MPP lift, and I downsized to 18inch wheels. I'm running 245/60/18s... We've had 2 feet of snow over the last two days and I live up a long twisty gravel road... The tires plus off-road assist have been bomb proof. We also...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

It's only that close on full turn. I don't plan on doing 80 at full turn. I'm on crappy, snowy, muddy roads every day where I live, and there's enough clearance for normal driving with muck buildup.... That's all I really care about.

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

Offset and rim width are closely tied together on how they affect spacing in the wheel well... If you have the same width wheel as me (8.5") with 45 offset I'd be concerned about clearance, but I couldn't say for sure. Go to willtheyfit and see how your wheel and tire set up compare on the...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

Hey @Atraf sorry for the delay in responding.... But it took some closeup pics of my setup. With 245/60/18s on full turn you only have 1/16th of an inch clearance to the back of the wheel well, and about 3/4inch to the front. And also maybe just 3/4 inch to the knuckle. I wouldn't do any tire...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

I certainly don't know for sure - you'd have to find a shop willing to work with you on giving it a shot. The diameter is about the same as mine.... and if you go to willtheyfit.com and compare those wheels to the stock setup, they will stick out further (maybe out past the wheel well?) and...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

@MountainPass They are 245/60/18s on Black Rhino 18x8.5 with a 35mm offset. The tires right now are Conti Vikingcontact 7s for the winter. The place I got the wheels and tires had tried larger diameter tires on another Model Y and decided this was the largest you could do before rubbing or...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

@PNWLeccy Reach out to Kirkland Tire Pros, ask for Aaron... Very reasonable pricing. I'm hesitant to say because I was the first MPP kit they'd done and I don't know if they'll change their pricing after doing mine... . But it cost me less than I thought it would...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

Hey All, Just thought I'd post an update.... finally got the MPP lift done. Also replaced the stock 19s with 18" Black Rhinos Mozambiques. We just got our first snowfall last week - and temps are dropping - so rather than a set of ATs I got Conti VikingContact 7s for the winter. I'll replace...

FS - 19" Model Y Gemini wheels, covers and tires - Almost New (WA)

Hi all, I'm selling my 19" Gemini wheels, OEM tires, covers, lugs from my Model Y. They have less than 1000 miles on them - I just got my Model Y a few weeks ago - they are in like new condition. Maybe you regret going with the 21" wheels? Maybe you just want an extra set for winter...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

Hey all, I too have been really interested in the MPP lift and upsizing tires. We live in a rural area with lots of crap roads - so I'm not trying to make this thing an overland rig - just a little more clearance for the ruts and snow... I reached out to I1 Tesla multiple times and got no...

Mats that cover the back of the rear seats?

Thanks everyone. Appreciate the input! I was hoping for some "always installed" ones too... Maybe that EVANNEX one will do until something else comes out. Does anyone know if that one rolls up and could be stored somewhere clever? It doesn't look like it's solid or hard plastic...

Mats that cover the back of the rear seats?

I've tried searching inside and outside these forums, and can't find much info on if any all weather mats out there also cover the back of the rear seats... For when you throw skis or bikes back there... Coming from an Outback, which has great protection. Anyone have any info to share? Thanks!

Hello all, Have my MY on the way, looking to get some more sidewall through a combination of 18" wheels and larger tires. Not trying to do any serious offroading or anything... Just live in a rural area with lots of gravel and ruts. If anyone is willing to help me, I'd really appreciate some...

MPP Lift Kit Install Instructions, Range Discussion & Driving Impressions

Nakk, thanks for posting all of this... Super helpful! I've got my MY and MPP lift kit on order and am very excited. I don't trust myself to wrench, so will be having a shop install and align for me. I'm curious what you said about the suspension knuckle... Does this mean putting on a larger...
