    Rough Ride with Winter Tires?

The Sottozero 3 is a winter tyre made for performance cars, and for sustained high-speed driving i.e. like crossing Germany during the winter months. It is on the stiff side when it comes to side-wall and rubber compound, compared to tires like Nokian Hakka 3 and Continental Viking Contact 7...

DRL Yellowing Issue - Blown LED or FW?

Had both headlamps replaced due to yellow DRLs, two weeks ago. Car is 09-2019 with about 43 000 km/ 27 000 miles on the clock. The lamps were replaced with 1053574-00-E and 1053575-00-E. Small but still noticable improvement for night-time driving.

Winter Tire Help - Nokian's on Backorder

Pretty sure you will find that the Viking 7s are excellent performers. They would be my choice as well; had I still been living in the mountains where you get proper snow conditions for months at the time.

Winter Tire Help - Nokian's on Backorder

You can expect very similar performance between the Viking 7 and the Hakka 3s. They are both strong performers on ice and snow. In my experience, the Continentals are a bit more quiet on dry roads. The Hakkas on the other hand, usually shows less wear after x km/miles. They are both a bit too...

    Winter tire recommendations

No. We would get physical if they tried that. The Refresh is still about 12 months away, for us. Should leave Tesla and third party suppliers enough time to stack up with proper winter wheels.

    Winter tire recommendations

How would you rate them for wet-grip, especially in summer temperatures? Do they still feel confident?

    Winter tire recommendations

Yes, that's a valid point. Wet ice is tricky and in my experience, studded tires are really the only performers under such conditions. In my area, they are (luckily) quite eager to sand or salt the roads as soon as such conditions are approaching. We had a few of those situations last winter...

    Winter tire recommendations

In short, yes. I drive a lot on wet highways during daily commute and they are very responsive and feels planted - presumably due to the stiff shoulders/sidewalls. Feels very safe in slush as well, due to the drainage properties. Had none issues last winter when driving in the mountains, either...

    Efficient tires?

    Please do.

    What is neutral for?

Neutral is a good way to condition the brakes from time to time, e.g. when going down hills. This will also remind you on how heavy the car actually is...

    Raven Tire Wear Observation

Agree. Would be happy to trade in some range for a more uniform power distribution.

    Winter tire recommendations

Thanks for coming back on this. Seems like the Snow's would be a good fit for the Model S as well. You talk about swapping back to the stock wheels, do you then mean going to summer tires already? Are there no more risks of winter conditions in the Portland area, even if the calendar still say...

    Winter tire recommendations

How do they handle on dry roads, have you had the chance to test them? I used X-Ice Xi3 last winter and found them a bit soft and wiggly at higway speeds. Courious whether Snow has been improved?

    Model S standard wheels - hubcaps ??

It's a pity that the spokes do not extend to the actual rim of the wheels. Now, they look more like 18" in size...

    Winter tire recommendations

So far, they have performed very well and above expectations. They track well in slush and deep(er) snow and the car sits firm on the road also when changing lanes on the highway. My impression is that they climb a bit better than they break, specially on icy surface. But nothing alarming as...

    Sudden Braking

Frequent phantom braking here as well. No cure in the latest sw-versions. The car seems confused by wrong/missing speed limits in the map data, even if it now does a pretty good job at rading speed limit signs. It's also easily scared by shadows (e.g. entering and inside tunnels) and low sun...

    Winter tire recommendations

After some back and forth, I opted for winter tires from an "unknown" brand this time. The tires are named Frigus EV Ice 3 and descriptions are available here: FRIGUS EV ICE 3 - UPGRADED WINTER TIRE FOR TESLA | Megahjul So far I have driven them on wet and dry asphalt, as well as some ice...

Ride quality on 19’s vs 21 inch wheels

I ended up with two sets of summer wheels: one set of 19" for the shoulder seasons and one set of 20" for the main summer months. The latter looks better on the car but comes with a slight penalty regarding comfort. On the other hand the steering response improves a bit. Both sets have the exact...

Thanks for the input. The WRG4 seems not to be available here, but the Nokian WR A4 might be. Will check with the dealer.

    Raven Tire Wear Observation

Latest sw in my Raven seems to drop the car to Low as soon as I enter a highway. Not happy with this. Only option now is to have it ride in Low permanently, instead of Normal. What clown considered this to be a good idea?

    Winter tire recommendations

Thank you. Yes, well aware of Bjorn's tests and recommendations. And the Nereus/Firemax/... seems to provide good value for money. My concern is wether they provide the handling and steering response I seek? Anyone with experience from the more performance based winter tires from Michelin...

    Winter tire recommendations

Looking for 19" studless winter tires for my 2019 Long Range. This is my first EV, I come from a BMW M550d xDrive. I recon about 80 % of my the winter driving is commute on wet highways with the occational 1" of slush. The challenge is that the remaining 20 % are trips to the moutains where...

    Raven Tire Wear Observation

Interesting. Any thoughts on how lower ambient temperatures (close to freezing etc.), rainfall and so would affect how the car distributes its request of power from the two engines?

    Raven Tire Wear Observation

Hi folks, my first posting here - thanks for beeing admitted. Also agree that the Raven runs like a FWD under normal driving and/or traction conditions. My 2019 Raven Long Range has now done about 20 000 km of mostly calm driving, with the occasional floring now and then. I use 245/40 R20...
