MY Battery Health after 1 year.

I also have a 2 yo Model Y. Just over 31000 miles. My 90% charge today is 251 miles, which is typical for my car.

do side camera's view on the screen work as well as side mirrors?

I purchased a pair of small stick-on convex mirrors, and put them on the inside lower corner of the side view mirrors. That way I can angle the side mirrors way out and still see motorcycles coming up right next to me.

    Window chip gone bad

Someone else also told me that I could have kept driving, so if that ever happens again I will probably not tow. What got me scared were those posts and news articles where Tesla glass roofs shattered for no apparent reason and turned the car into instant convertibles. I figured a glass roof...

    Window chip gone bad

Same thing happened to me just two months ago. Kicked up pebble caused a chip. Ten minutes later, my wife and I noticed a crack starting to form. By the time we pulled off the freeway, a total of 20 minutes after the pebble had hit, the crack was 18" long. Rather than have my windshield cave in...

Accepted Delivery of MYP 22' this weekend. Your thoughts on the fit and finish?

I agree - i didn’t expect that a $50K+ car would be more of a Camry level of luxury instead of Lexus. But I now look at Teslas as more a tech purchase than a car purchase - although one day they might melt together. It first hit me that I purchased a piece of tech when I was stuck in a thirty...

Accepted Delivery of MYP 22' this weekend. Your thoughts on the fit and finish?

I’ve only owned Toyotas and Hondas for 35 years, and there was never any need to do that. I still own two Hondas - perfect panels all around. I own two Teslas - panel fit is a mess on both. Teslas have sloppy manufacturing and production, and I’ve taken my MY in for service eight times in the...

    Phone Mount Recommendations

Oh, and I replaced the phone holster with this Magsafe charging cradle - the ball joints are the same size. I run the cable from out of the front center console. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08S5WP4TN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Phone Mount Recommendations

I use this one. Phone is at an ideal distance and position above the front console USB-C ports, and has the added benefit of a hidden place to store my sunglasses. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088FJF6K3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Model Y rear seat rattles

If it's a squeaking type of noise, mine was caused by the two back seats rubbing against each other. I "fixed" that by setting the recline of the two back seats at different levels.

I take mine to the drive through car wash. No cracked roof yet.

Who in California or good weather state uses mud flaps/guards

I have them in SoCal. Cheap, easy to install, and you'd be surprised how dirty the side of the car gets without them.

Model Y Rear Liftgate Sunshade - now available in Tesla shop

Thanks SrLawren. I have seen the shelf, but I sometimes carry bulky things that sit high, and my family's lifestyle is to throw things into the trunk from inside the cabin. I've been using an opaque suction cup rear window shade for privacy, but was hoping for something that I could keep on for...

Model Y Rear Liftgate Sunshade - now available in Tesla shop

I know outward visibility isn't compromised, but does the sunshade act as a privacy filter when someone is trying to look in? Right now, I'm just throwing a beach blanket over my stuff.

    Model Y roof rack

I don’t think the wind noise from the crossbars is noticeable at highway speeds, because the MY already gets a lot of wind and tire noise. No loud whistling at all. Whatever I put on the crossbars - roof basket, bikes, surfboard, ski rack - create a lot of wind noise, though. And I swear I can...

Summer tires are not ok for use in winter driving or parking

Good to know. I live in SoCal and only drive in snow once every couple of years so sliding while parked isn’t something I thought about.

    Model Y roof rack

I have the cross bars and also think the car looks better with them. However, keep in mind that it will spoil the great view through the panoramic glass roof. On the other hand, I get a lot of use out of my rack, and you might actually find it useful.

    floormat for 2021 Model Y

Since I don't need or like stiff, heavy duty all weather mats, I also went for the Autailors and love them. They are perfectly cushioned, the weave is very comfortable underfoot, they are waterproof, dirt and sand do not show because of the weave, and I can just spray them off to clean them...

Heavy wear in front passenger tire - should I replace?

My service date finally arrived. When they looked at my tires they insisted the wear was not an alignment problem, but a result of aggressive driving. They also said the passenger side was more worn because I make more fast right turns (wtf?!) I told him I have two kids and this is our family...

    Mud flaps & Model Y

Someone posted that a lot of the spray in front of the rear wheels actually come from the rear wheels. I purchased the Tesla OEM PPF for that area, so along with the front flaps I hope this will cover a lot of the car.

Cruise control / Auto Pilot is Garbage

I don't doubt you're experiencing those issues, as I myself have taken my MY in for service for many issues. Since you are experiencing an issue that most people don't, I think a service center appointment might be in order.

    Seat Fold Button

I dunt recall exactly what they did, but i'd say it's obvious that if the rear seats won't fold, Tesla needs to fix it.

Ouch! Don’t get this forum started on “Tesla dealer prep”! ;)

Heavy wear in front passenger tire - should I replace?

Yes, given the dozen or so mechanical, electrical, and assembly issues I have already had, Vegas would say smart money is that it was bad off the assembly line. Tesla had already sent me an estimate for about $700 to replace and balance the tires.

Heavy wear in front passenger tire - should I replace?

More wear than the rear tires, but not as bad as passenger side. Driver side is first photo.

Heavy wear in front passenger tire - should I replace?

Thanks to everyone for the info. Do you think there is any chance of claiming this as a warranty issue?

Heavy wear in front passenger tire - should I replace?

With four or five service appointments for other things since delivery, I feel sick that I ignored the basics. After 7k miles of “family style” driving, my front passenger tire looks like this, with a pic of my rear tire to compare. I have a service appointment in three weeks. Should I rotate...

What have you done with your Tesla today?

Went to the beach with the family yesterday for biking, surfing, and body boarding. Bike and 8' foamie board on the roof, and a couple of body boards in the trunk for the four of us.

    Thule Roof Cargo Box Size?

FWIW - Don't be surprised if the Yakima Skybox doesn't fit. I purchased a Yakima Skinny Warrior roof basket since their website said it would fit. It did not, and Yakima Customer Service confirmed this. Yet, they still list it as compatible on their website. Pretty classic bait and switch to...

Any cover for wireless charging pad?

After spending time and money buying a nice looking matte black shell for my center console, I realized that because I use a cell phone holder and charge with a cord, my top panel is always flipped up, exposing the grubby looking rubber wireless charging pad. Anyone know of anything that might...

Yakima roof baskets do not fit the Yakima MY roof rack

The Thule Trail XT (Med) finally arrived. I installed it and I think it looks great. The feet are continually adjustable so I had no problem accommodating them to the 35" spread of the roof rails. It's very easy to lift overhead and attach by myself. The cage is a little less functional than I...

    Front license plate holder.

I bought this little ppf rectangle to apply under the Tesla stock license plate frame. It's supposed to protect the paint and make removal easy. I haven't tried it out yet, but I suppose it just works like any other ppf. Model 3 & Y Under Front License Plate Protection (Only $19 w/ 20%)

Driver’s seat jammed up against center console

Intersting - what is your build date? I wonder if the compressions is "normal" in the way that having a misaligned frunk is "normal", and there are just a lot of MYs at the showrooms that have that issue.

What Bike Rack has less drag: Roof Rack or Hitch Rack

Your 349 Wh/mi for two bikes on the roof are right about in line with what I get with two bikes on my roof when I'm on the highway at 70-75 mph.

Driver’s seat jammed up against center console

I drove down to the showroom that told me there should be a gap between the driver's seat and the center console to look at the MY they have on display. Turns out, that one also has the driver's seat compressed against the console, so I figure it must be norma.

Driver’s seat jammed up against center console

FWiW, I called a showroom and was told that there should not be a gap so the seat isn't compressed against the center console, and told me to schedule a service. I'll see what happens. *edit* Yay, I got an appointment for November 24. One week improvement in wait time since my last appointment...

    Maximum following distance.

Ha! I once had it set to one car length by accident on the freeway. Before I realized what had happened, several cars ahead of me thought I was tailgating them and kept moving over into the slower lanes.

Driver’s seat jammed up against center console

Thanks - I just got my car back from the Tesla shop today, in part to fix a squeak inside the cabin. The tech said they adjusted some internal panels, but couldn't tell me what. I noticed the rubbing when I got home and thought it might be new.

Driver’s seat jammed up against center console

Is it normal for the driver’s seat to be compressed against the center console? The passenger’s seat doesn’t do this. It makes such a loud rubbing noise each time I get into and out of the car, that I think the p/u leather will soon wear away at that spot.
  41. 2

    Maximum following distance.

That might depend on where you’re driving. On LA freeways, if I set it to more than four car lengths, people tailgate, swerve around and cut in front of me.

No install of front license plate?

Hmmm . . . you'd have to receive three tickets before the bandit mount pays for itself. ;D

What are your favorite aftermarket accessories for MY

If you don't want heavy, stiiff all weather floor mats, I love the Autailors set. Look great, waterproof, easy to clean, and nice and cushy underfoot. A matte screen protector and center console shell to cut glare and fingerprints help a lot. I get a lot of use out of my Evannex steering wheel...

Sort of - the button worked, but the seats were too close together. I had the rear seats adjusted in a service visit.

    Just another disappointing aftermarket experience

I have had mixed results with RPM Tesla merchandise - but that's to be expected to some extent because most of this aftermarket stuff is, as someone mentioned, "cheap China crap". On the other hand, I have been able to reach them by phone and email and they have been quick to offer refunds on...

Back seats Model Y vs. S

According to Car & Driver, the MY has 4" more rear headroom and 5" more rear legroom than the MS. When you add in the more upright seating position, the MY provides much more space. My son is 5'6", and he can comfortably cross his legs in the back seat.

Tyco, VA - Impossible to Reach a Human

Unlocking rear doors in an emergency

I wonder what the car will register as an "accident"? Being caught in floodwaters - probably not. Even if there is backup power to the doors, what if the doors then malfunction? My guess, any small kids in the back seat won't make it, as explained in the video below.
