Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Does it make sense to do DIY this now by ordering parts ourselves? I have a 2020 MY and wondering whether that $125 of labor is worth saving. Also, I read somewhere that the older MY does not have the mounting points which could steps to the DIY route. Does the HEPA filter work efficiently...
The error started appearing on mine after a sensor replacement as well. There was a software update as well, not sure whether it was just coincidental.
I am not sure. I didn't get an opportunity to talk to the service advisor. I had that mount for almost 16 months. It is possible that the bolts were too long. But very similar to the ones in that Etsy listing.
I had it linked in my post, here it is No-hole Tesla Model 3 or Model Y Front License Plate | Etsy
I didn't buy that from that etsy seller, I got the bolts from Lowe's.
Got the car back in 2 days. They replaced the sensors and recharged the system. They also removed my license plate installation, which was a DIY like this one.
Some SCs allow you to drop in the vehicle earlier than the appointment date if it is an urgent issue. I recommend contacting the local service center over the phone and talking to them.
Can someone post a picture of their wheels now that the wheel covers are not spanking new?
I felt that most pictures have mismatched finishes for wheel covers and tires where the wheel covers are brand new and the tires have some dirt.
Thanks in advance.
Can you please post your invoice? That way I can ask my SC to preorder parts.
Also, how long did they take for the fix? Do you think the mobile service could handle the fix?
Please keep us posted on how it goes. We have the same issue with our MY. The error happened right after the car was picked up after a windshield replacement from Tesla SC. I noticed that they had replaced some sensors while the car was in for the windshield replacement. They want us to drop the...
So had a chat with the shop while picking up the car. He said that the new single-piece casting doesn't help with repairs as it will result in more cars considered totaled. It may make it easier to manufacture but doesn't help in case of an accident.
Model Y has a rear bottom bracket inside the...
Got the car back after repairs, it costed ~$6000. They replaced the tailgate and painted most of the rear side of the car. The car was in the shop for only 8 days since I had them pre-order the parts before dropping it for repairs. The other party's insurance paid for everything including...
Our Model Y is our primary vehicle and the CRV is used only when the Y is not available(my spouse uses the Y for her commute). We love taking the Y everywhere. It can fit all our Costco shopping and the sub trunk is very useful.
Some have recommended reducing the tire pressure to soften the...
The Y is always preferred as it is more fun to drive. However, we haven't done any real long drives after getting the Y due to COVID. We may still take the CRV for long trips if the charging situation is not so certain. My wife while riding in the back seat of the Y had complained about the...
We own a 2017 CRV and a 2020 MY. The MY has the stiffest ride and it is very annoying on bad roads. On highways, the ride is comfortable in the Y. CRV has softer suspension and thus leans more at corners and makes you reduce your speed. MY wins on the handling front. CRV's suspension is not as...
Got bumped by a distracted driver yesterday and the tailgate is dented. :( Looks like the rear bumper is also dislodged and/or broke the clips as well.
See photos below.
Will this be an easy fix(PDR) or does it require replacing the tailgate and bumper? The other party has GEICO and will be...
If the bushes are lowered then it makes it easier to close the frunk, however, it then makes the hood not flush with the bumper. I have seen in some youtube videos where people close their frunk(Model 3 mostly) easily with one hand. It is still not easy in mine even with adjustment.
I don't use the frunk mainly because of this reason. I am afraid I will dent the hood trying to force close it. I showed this issue during my SC visit and they adjusted the bushes only.
Answering my own question:
If you have the car locked with the lock button on screen(right above the car), then the trunk won't open(Car wash or otherwise)
Tesla Offer is having a similar product. However, they have listed two variants. Basic and Extra.
They say that the additional safety feature prevents activation under the following circumstances.
Did anyone take their car through a car wash after the installation with the hansshow model? I...
It was not that difficult. It makes a lot of popping noises though. Do remove the cover for that latch cover first otherwise you will end up breaking it like I did.
Installed this yesterday. It took 3.5hrs+ for me. Most of the time was spent routing the wire from the rubber grommet down to the sub trunk area. I couldn't route it via the metal part so I pulled the headliner down and routed it underneath. Watching the videos definitely helped. Though I would...
It doesn't have to be amber light in the mirror, there should be some way to let the driver know that there are vehicles in the blind spots. Tesla could achieve this by showing more vehicles behind in the visualization and maybe in a different color. I think the FSD Beta shows more than the...
The current version of Blind Spot Warning is not so reliable. It only warns when it is too close and that also in the center screen where the approaching vehicle turns to red. It is not really Active Blind Spot Monitoring where the amber light lights up in the side mirrors whenever there is a...
Try adjusting the black knobs on the frunk lid. Basically, you want to make them go inside a bit. I would mark the current position using some marker and then try quarter turns.
Also, push the edge of the frunk below the logo, otherwise, you will crease the frunk lid.
I did 30% front windows and 45% on rear windows it made the rear windows too dark. If get to do it again, I will choose 70% for the rear windows. With 45% on top of the factory tint, it is very hard to see out through them at night.
My SC would call all of these 'within spec'. Did you get to talk to the technician when you dropped off the car? When I took mine, the tech came out with the service advisor and went over each of the issues and whether it was going to be fixed. They also put a small tape on places that need...
Those who don't want to stick the factory plate holder to the front bumper can look at this solution. No-Hole Tesla Model 3 or Model Y Front License Plate | Etsy
This is not that easy to remove and reinstall like other temporary solutions discussed here, but you can install it securely and...
They should fix the bumper gap and the trim gaps. Others I am not so sure. It will take a while if they have to get any body-panel repainted and you will be without a car for that long. There is also a risk of uneven paint matching after they have done that as well.
headliner - you may get a...
I was planning to get a keyfob before we took delivery. However, after using the Phone Key with Key Card as a backup in the wallet, I don't think I want to carry another fob. I don't use frunk much but it can come in handy to open the trunk for loading groceries. I may add that foot-activated...
I got the 3dmaxpider liners recently and I found that the rear trunk liner sort of makes it difficult to put the trunk floor into the slot to load stuff into the sub trunk. Is anyone else having this issue? I am interested to know if there is a workaround or another type of liner that doesn't...
I have the same noise (IMG 8645) too and I found a hack to stop it. Use the app to turn on the Climate Control(the fan icon) and turn it off right after. This sound should stop.
The User manual recommends the car to be plugged in always even when the charging is completed.
