    M3 performance tire replacement questions

No difference and no, you don’t have to get the Tesla TO version. I think mine are the Porsche version and is as quiet as the OEM. I still can’t trust anything else as much as the PS4S tires when driving the canyons.

Recommendations for Tire Shop in San Jose/Silicon Valley Area?

Ping the guys at The Driveway in San Jose - they can probably order and install your tires - just tell them what you need. They also work on Teslas a lot so they would know their stuff.

Replacing the Uber Heavy wheels M3P

Lightweight wheels will have better handling and driving dynamics, but won’t help with acceleration nor range. I love my 20s and might be ok in 19, but 18 is not flattering. But it depends on what you like too.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

It’s been a while - this thread is getting crazy :) Still rocking my 20” Sigs. Maybe one day when @P3D-R stops tempting me with awesome parts, i’ll switch to the Aspire 19s. In the mean time, i’m still driving fast and taking chances in the corners :)

    Question about Solar Design

Yeah - there’s not enough space on your south-facing roof. They can’t add more there as you have to keep some distance from the edges and pitches (code here is 1ft for fire crew). You can ask to arrange those vertically and see if you can add 2 more (1 on each side). I have south and west...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

I went with matte black, but bronze works fine too. As for silver - some people like it, some don’t - it comes to personal preference. I’d probably go with something in-between - maybe gunmetal or something similar.

20x10" squared setup with 275/40 tires.. wh/mi expectations?

It doesn’t work like that. Even on the same setup i have different consumption depending on how i drive, weather and other factors. To have it scientifically exact, one must drive the same way and style with the same conditions for 1000 miles, then change to new tires/wheels and do exactly the...

20x10" squared setup with 275/40 tires.. wh/mi expectations?

Depends on what wheels/tires you are tight now. Anytime you put wider tire and/or latger wheels, you’ll lose range. On average it’s about 8-10% if you go from any aero to non-aero. Gets worse if you go from say 19x8.5 to 20x10. It also might depend on how you drive - faster=less range.

Anyone regretted getting a Performance M3?

If you’re not tracking the car, LR with Boost might be better. Use some of that 10K difference to get coilovers, better (stronger and lighter) wheels, spoiler of your choice.

Steering wheel off center but alignment in spec?

Mine was doing it after alignment, but it self-corrected itself after about 100 miles of driving. Make sure you do that before you go for another alignment.
  17. NXN-P3D

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Eeh - depends in the matte/satun finiah and design. I can’t sat i’m losing any details or definition on mine, but it comes to individual choices and preference.

How to go about selecting new wheels

I have lowered mine, but it is a model 3. On your model S you should have air suspension and at lowest setting, your gap should be small.
  20. NXN-P3D

How to go about selecting new wheels

I’d say first you find couple of designs you like and then see if someone has them on their tesla already. Then decide on size and offsets - there’s a bit of a trade off as you go larger, the ride is less smooth.

Steering wheel off center but alignment in spec?

Mine was pulling to the right even after perfect alignment. We also made sure the wheel was centered. A possible explanation was that somehow less torque was pushed to the passenger wheel since toe was way off. It happened to couple of folks before and they said that after deep sleep and some...

Steering wheel off center but alignment in spec?

Had it too. After alignment it took about 80-100 miles of driving and it self corrected. Just make sure the car goes to deep sleep (nothing running and not plugged in).

Signature SV104 - 20x9 at 20 lbs. Pricier than those options, but totally worth it.

Probably angle and shadows. 245 is ok for me - not a huge fan of chubby tires :)
  27. NXN-P3D

Same size and offsets with 245 PS4S. It might be ok with 255 - depends on the tires.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

I can vouch for Signature Wheels - forged, light (20x9 is only 20 lbs) and beautiful. There are other brands too, but in general forged is stronger and more reliable than flow forged.

    Powder coat or New Wheels?

I had my oem wheels powdercoated for 2 years before i switched to aftermarket ones. They were like new - no chops or scratches after 2 yrs. i went with satin black to create more visual depth.

    Model 3 Performance Spacers

You can safely remove that little hanging bolt - it’s not needed.
  39. NXN-P3D

    Powder coat or New Wheels?

Signature SV104. You can contact @SignatureSales for info and other models. Best wheels i’ve ever owned - forged, 20x9 is only 20lbs.
  40. NXN-P3D

    Powder coat or New Wheels?

Both have pros and cons. Powdercoated wheels will be cheaper and might do the job if you already like the design. New wheels come at a much higher cost, but offer better designs, finishes, sizes and offsets and much lighter than the stock wheels. I did powdercoated my original wheels and for 2...

    Painting Rims and Calipers

Besides the many color options, it’s better to wrap and keep the original look under it. In case you later decide yo change color, remove the wrap and do it again. Not that easy once painted. Besides, cost-wise, they are probably the same.

10 year 100K warranty from Lexus - will Tesla ever offer anything close to it?

Tesla already has 8yr/120k mile warranty on your motors and battery back. It also has 15,000 parts less than an ICE so whatever can break after the 4 yr warranty would be minor things, like FUCAs that cost $300 or 12v battery that is around $100.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Little late here but +1 for @SignatureSales SV104. Life is too short for average offsets of Titans vs custom flush offsets of sv104 + tons of finishes and their support. I was in your spot a year ago and did tons of research and always came back to the Signature wheels.
