Does anyone know if Supercharger sites have stationary battery storage to buffer the demand on the grid? I've heard some people discuss that there maybe the need for them, and it seems like a popular Supercharger site could have pretty high peaks in power draw. Thanks.

    Most underestimated threat to Tesla?

I think a company could complete in the high end EV market without copying Tesla's exact business plan. Especially if a new company just wants to make luxury vehicles at top prices. And you don't need a gigafactory to make money at luxury prices. Imagine three years from now when Tesla is...

Apparently coming out of the shadows soon. "Representatives remain tight-lipped about the details, but at some point Atieva decided to shift focus and design a consumer EV from scratch. Lexus advertisement talks trash on EVs (and makes no sense)

Notice the fine print in the video that specifies that 4 hours recharge time is for 240 V (fine print that doesn't exist on the online ads), even though that charging station in the ad was clearly meant to resemble a DC Fast Charger.

Lexus advertisement talks trash on EVs (and makes no sense)

This ad makes absolutely no sense. It basically attacks the way a Nissan Leaf charges (in a totally dishonest way). Then shows a picture of a Lexus GS Hybrid, which Starting at $60,430 is double the price of a Leaf and way closer to Model S. But they know better than to attempt to compare it...

Will Tesla consider making Hydrogen cars? 500 miles refueling in 3 minutes?

I am sure Tesla will eventually jump onto this technology, but right now hydrogen vehicles are too expensive to create, significantly more than an EV. Also that fact that the productions of hydrogen requires energy... and this would lead to having to have hydrogen replenishment systems in gas...

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

I am not specifically talking about Tesla either, Tesla has seen great success but I am talking about the EV market in general. Tesla may not need to fit that specific segment just as Mercedes, BMW, Rolls Royce, etc. do not fit in every segment. I am speaking in generalities.

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

I think everyone is missing my original point, the means for EVs to be globally accepted RIGHT NOW is not there. Some expansion and changes need to be made. The expansion is beginning and will evolve in the future and will eventually be globally accepted, but right now it is not.

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

I am not even talking about fuel efficiency, I am simply saying that at least vehicles are offered to everyones daily use. I know plenty of farmers around where I live that swear by their 1970s Ford and Chevy trucks that get 5 MPG, they don't care about efficiency as long as they have a vehicle...

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

Oh I am sure that if rates dropped $50 per kWh those that can afford to make the switch. My point is that the technology just isn't there currently for it to be "mainstream". Tesla is making some leaps and bound with their superchargers, which is a step in the right direction but I do not see...

Should TSLA use/steal/borrow the Karma design for Gen III?

I agree with bonnie1194, I think there best bet is to avoid any affiliation with Fisker that they possibly can. Why bring it upon themselves?

Like it or not, electric cars are going mass market.

I think for EVs to become globally accepted some drastic changes need to made to charging speeds and battery capacity, and of course price. Until this happens, which I am confident it will in the coming years, it will not be ideal for all drivers.

CNN Opinion: Reality check on Tesla

I think this article says a lot, the fact the Model S rated so highly, despite what the writer believes, is still extremely impressive. Consumer Reports is a reputable name, they wouldn't just give out this kind of a rating frivolously.
