Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
From my experience, whats not fixable will always be within spec. Also because of liability concerns they will say we will fix it within tesla’s spec which is very very vague.
Update:
Returned the car today, the rep was nice and understanding, his take was that “they might have rushed this one”.
in any case i cant order the same trim for 1 yr, he let me know twice.
I was also told that I should be expecting my deposit within 60 days
I had to call to let them know...
Agreed, I don't believe in perfect cars. But this one just had a gazillion of issues, I was told right away that this car passed tesla's inspection at delivery.
Tesla does not have these under control. Took delivery at the end of July and I have a thread describing all those problems.
In fact a coworker who got delivery pre-covid has a car that is in much better shape.
It is in the best interest, i agree, but we are humans, excitement plays a big role in this, once reality settles in, things change, unfortunately its usually post delivery. This car should have not passed quality control in the first place.
VIN is 29xxx, did you ask for the exact VIN?
Update:
I went to Allston Collision in MA, had Paul Chaet (general manager, really nice guy) take a look at it.
1- Return the car
2- The car has been worked on.
3- Nobody is going to be able to fix it to a generally acceptable level.
There is one other major issue: Color mismatch (its not the...
Order date: 07/29
Delivery date: 08/29
VIN: 29xxx
Delivery Location: Peabody, MA
I found 14 issues and ranked them: major, medium, minor. I will be taking the car to a local collision center for a second opinion.
Major:
1- passenger-headlight-fender
2- passenger-rear-door-alignment
3-...
Yeah i know its about 1 month. Now “its within tesla spec” is the word that i hate the most.
i told this northeast regional leader not to tell me bullshit about tesla’s spec.
VIN is 29xxx (tesla model y, ordered on june 27th) How in the world could this pass inspection (talking about the bumper fender fit).
i exchanged emails with the advisor way before delivery asked him to do something if he could as far as qa goes since i was going to go over that huge checklist...
Oh my, you be the judge, same issues at the end of july, just like the end of previous quarter, that’s what it looks like. I will upload more pics when i get to it.
Talked to the rep just moments ago. He told me there is no such policy 24 hours / 100 miles, but he said they are human being and most of the time they accept additional issues after delivery. I guess that falls into tesla's goodwill concept.
That's all. All is clear for me now. I am excited...
Ok, the is the response from the Tesla sales rep:
"Tesla has a 7 day or 1000 mile return policy. In terms of the fit/finish/etc issues, at pick up, your delivery advisor will walk the car and review everything with you. While you are there, if you notice anything, your advisor will take photos...
I am taking delivery tomorrow (07/29) and i mainly have two questions:
1- How do you guys document pre delivery issues (before accepting the car)? I am thinking of going through the checklist posted here and then sending them an email(with pictures) about what i think should be fixed and them...
Also a lot of Tesla reps read and post here.
Went to a showroom yesterday and one sales rep sort of poked fun at me for planning on inspecting the car for about 30 minutes. He claims that people usually inspect their cars for less than a minute.
In addition he claimed that Tesla’s quality...
Got this from the sales rep today
“That is correct! The car is about 90% completed from the factory and we actually have an expected delivery time of about the 2nd week in August. I will be in touch as we get closer to your delivery.”
still puzzled as to why the VIN disappeared.
Horrible feeling, to add to that i got a text message a day after i order saying that they are trying to assign VIN to me ( the sales rep said those are automated and he doesnt know what is going on)
i am not even sure it makes sense to contact tesla’s support.
I have been assigned a VIN yesterday at 11pm - 29xxx (delivery location Peabody).
Model y white exterior black interior /w induction wheels.
When should i expect to take delivery ?
thx
