Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

And here we are still waiting for PG&E, a full year since construction started and 10 months since Tesla finished their part.

    Supercharger - Soda Springs, CA (LIVE 8 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

After the last few times I used a Supercharger the app popped up a 'how was your charging session mini survey'. Everyone make sure to report poor results at Soda Springs.

    FSD Beta 12.3 GA

I'm impressed with 12.3 so far, a bit slow on neighborhood streets but 11.x was usually way too fast around parked cars n kids. I am very disappointed that we can no longer engage TACC though. There are situations like windee mountain roads that I prefer to steer but am happy for the car to...

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

More stalls were being upgraded today. I chatted with one of the techs doing the upgrade and he told me that they were adding a current sensor and new control board to support non-Teslas. I suspect not all vehicles on an adapter report data like current back to the Supercharger like a Tesla...

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Last transformer installed...then removed! Last Thursday the second transformer cabinet was installed then when I came out of work it was gone. I went over to the crew and asked what happened and they said they something underground blocked them from pulling the final wire and they chose to...

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

I was told by PG&E workers that there would be two transformers. I saw the first one (which you are referring to) being installed. A surprisingly large part of its volume is taken up by wires as fat as my wrist connecting to the bus bars to the Tesla equipment.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

The main transformer still needs to be installed on the junction box pad to the left, covered by cones in your picture.

    Supercharger - Soda Springs, CA (LIVE 8 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Now if only we had V2L to power nice electric snow blowers!

    Supercharger - Soda Springs, CA (LIVE 8 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

If you might need this stop and it’s been snowing then I suggest you carry a shovel. Frankly you should carry a shovel in the winter in the mountains no matter what and where you are driving.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Transformer pads are in. Left one is a big prefab junction box underneath to connect the big wires. The right one is just poured concrete. The trenching out to Phyllis Rd is done. Mainly just waiting for the two transformers, though I don't know if the directional drilling under Grant Rd is 100%...

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Yeah I was told they were going to open trench to Phyllis Rd (which I think is done except for the tarmac repair) and then have to directionally bore over to and under Grant Rd. Lots of work.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

PG&E contractors have been trenching all week to lay the conduit. Here's pics of them cutting in where the transformer pads will be poured.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Finally a glimmer of progress. A PG&E project manager onsite said they plan to put in two 6 inch conduits for two 12kV 1000A circuits to two transformers and his contractor was there today confirming a safe route around other utilities etc. They have to run a couple blocks to the other side of...

    Slow leaking tires

A few years ago I had an SUV that would lose tire pressure - but only while driven. Took me a while to figure out but turned out to be a valve stem flexing from centrifugal force. I agree with the comments above, most likely a bad valve or cracked rim, fill it to the limit and dip it in water.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Still no progress. Do you know if PGE will first pour a concrete slab like all the Tesla cabinets are sitting on? If so that will give us some warning but add a bit more delay.

    Supercharger - Auburn, CA (LIVE 3 Feb 2022, 12 V3 stalls)

At Auburn Foothills Bowl has always been friendly and supportive and Maria’s Tacos has the best Carnitas. My wife actually prefers Loomis though as the Round Table Pizza has always satisfied and has some great local beers on tap.

    Supercharger - Soda Springs, CA (LIVE 8 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

More chargers is always better but at almost 6000 ft on the final upslope on the Sierra Nevada this place gets a lot of snow (5ft in a day is not rare). Unless the chargers are laid out for easy plowing and they are frequently plowed they will not be accessible during winter storms. I’d really...

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Site passed final inspection from the city of Mountain View on May 17, looks finished and is wrapped up likely waiting for PG&E transformer install and grid connection. I spoke with a Tesla guy there last week and he mentioned that might be a frustratingly random long wait.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

The charger cabinets and pedestals are now all installed. Stall are a mix of mostly drive in, some back in and a some pull along, to charge a wider range of vehicles I’d assume. The pedestals are V3 the two nearest me did not have magic docks but others may.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Its a big set of chargers behind 3 suites of the strip mall: 99 Ranch Market, F45 Training fitness studio and a T-Mobile store. Good location for amenities with Sushi, Ocha Tea, Erik’s Deli, Knob Hill Foods with a Pete’s Coffee also all very close.

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

There's construction in the parking lot behind the F45 gym at 1350 Grant Rd, Mountain View so I wandered by and saw a box from Tesla. Then I found what appears to be the permit for 32 chargers: COMM T.I. INSTALL (32) NEW EV CHARGERS IN PARKING LOT, ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT AND STRIPING, SIGNAGE AND...

Storm Watch Did not activate and we lost power

The weird thing IIRC is this Grid Charging restriction is recent (last year) and when first installed I could even set the system to arbitrage: grid charge and night and sell to grid during peak.

Storm Watch Did not activate and we lost power

I did and this was the response I got blamed the restrictions on the SGIP incentive I received as follows. I'm guessing some of you near me also received that but your installer didn't bother to lock you down. Swell Energy Feb 28, 2023, 11:26 AM PST Good afternoon Trent, Unfortunately...

Storm Watch Did not activate and we lost power

I don't have that option as follows. I know how to run the installer setup on my gateway if anyone can PM me the change to make to enable grid charging I'd appreciate it. It wasn't obvious to me and I didn't want to break what I've found to be a very delicate setup with the flakey and...

Storm Watch Did not activate and we lost power

Our outage started at 2am and you can see the PW running down pretty linearly from there. How many people have a backup to their backup? We don't. We do have over 13kw of solar on the roof, and in the summer we can run off grid indefinitely (including charging one of our Teslas) but in the...

Storm Watch Did not activate and we lost power

On Feb 22, 2023 very high winds hit the San Francisco Bay Area and many lost power. This was a pretty extreme event for us, for example winds gusted to 70mph in sheltered San Jose bringing down many trees etc. The high winds had been forecast for a couple days but Storm Watch was never enabled...

Is my 2022 Model Y totaled?

Sorry to hear. Is there any damage to the rear quarter panels? Have the gaps around the rear doors changed? If so then it’s more likely to be totaled as the car has structurally changed shape. Be interesting to know why the car shut itself down cause if there is any unseen battery damage that...

Move from Audi Q7 to Model Y or alternative?

Sold our Q7 when we got our Y 18 months ago and never looked back. Sure the Audi could haul a bit more but I couldn't walk around it in the garage. Both are great in the snow on good tires. A few months ago I heard from the guy who bought it and he was quoted $11,500 by the dealer to fix a minor...

Tesla Semi delivery event, 1 December 2022

yup it wouldn’t work in the vast majority of existing SuperCharger parking layouts but that doesn’t mean the Semi could not charge from a v4 with a NACS plug as was a large part of this discussion, though it would require a pull through layout. I guess we will see.

Tesla Semi delivery event, 1 December 2022

I thought that was interesting too. Adding a clutch for the second and third motors flies in face of Elon's "the best part is no part" guideline, which implies Tesla really prioritized efficiency to make the range goal with a manageable battery. As many here know, permanent magnet motors are...

Tesla Semi delivery event, 1 December 2022

Interesting to know though with such a large battery even the strongest 20kw Level 2 chargers would only get it about 1/4 full in 12 hours overnight. With the current Tesla Wall connector you get 11.5kw so only add about 70 miles of range overnight and your typical public 24A Chargepoint half of...

Tesla Semi delivery event, 1 December 2022

Tesla appeared to recently change their mind and published their connector as the NACS standard much to the dismay of their fellow CharIn members, maybe they changed their minds on MCS too? Having said that it appears that MCS is capable of at least twice and maybe 3 times the power of NACS...

    Supercharger - Loomis, CA (LIVE 2 Apr 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

We use this location often on the way to Tahoe and on our last visit noticed that the charging stalls had been made wider. They were super tight for our bikes on the rack before and now have 1.5 feet to spare. You could see the old line markings painted over and pedestal locations patched. I...

    Supercharger - Soda Springs, CA (LIVE 8 Dec 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Doesn't matter if they are all full on a Friday evening as happens frequently already. Be great to add an SC in Colfax to top up before heading over the pass if its stormy. We want Tesla to build out charging ahead of the million vehicles a year manufacturing rate they should soon hit in North...

Configure Neurio meters to connect via home WIFI

My grid connection with Gateway and Powerwalls with solar inverter and the WiFi Neurio meter are on opposite ends of the house with no easy path in between. Do you have to run the Ethernet from Neurio to Gateway or will Neurio to router suffice as that is much easier?

Configure Neurio meters to connect via home WIFI

For the life of me I could not get the Neurio Meter and Gateway to talk through the new TP Link mesh routers. I jerry rigged a fix by using the old Asus router as a wired client of the new WiFi mesh and only putting the Neurio Meter and Gateway on the old router. Works despite the double NAT...

Configure Neurio meters to connect via home WIFI

I upgraded to TP Link Deco WiFi 6e mesh routers (from a few year old Asus WiFi 5 mesh) and every device in my house seamlessly joined the matching SSID and password - except the Neurio meters and Powerwall Gateway. I logged into the Gateway and set up its WiFi again and it appeared back online...

    Model Y 2170 vs 4680

Around 6 years ago the Model S and X switched cell chemistry and pack configuration to go from 85 to 90 labels. After a few years many people on these forums think the 85 packs are holding up better, when many sought out the 90. Time will tell on the 4680.

    AP disengagement freak-out

This happened to me today while driving on I80 through Sacramento under ideal conditions. No matter how much I wiggled the wheel or turned the scroll wheels I still got a Forced Disengagement. I called Tesla support from the car and they looked at the logs and all they could see was an...

Horrible experience with my flat tire

I have carried the kit you suggest in our S, 3 and now Y and have used it to get us home 4 times in 5 years! 3 of the 4 times the tire plug lasted the life of the tire. One time I had to redo it as it was still leaking a couple PSI a day (not enough rubber cement on the plug) but at least that...

Rear ended with less than 100miles. Help?

Order a new one (as Tesla to expedite and you can cancel) and ask your insurance company to write this one off. I bet the repair is going to come in around $40k. Max repair $ = car value - auction wreck sale price - diminished value - 3 months of car rental. So I think you are there.

    Trailer Hitch, Very Limited Room

based on @tricky_tran's post above I ordered this similar hitch pin and lock: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009V1WS4 And the perpendicular lock head works with my threaded Heininger pin. It may not be keyed alike and is a pain to install but at least I can have my rack both locked and...

    Trailer Hitch, Very Limited Room

I find this hitch pin access frustrating as well. I primarily use the hitch for a bike rack which has a threaded lock pin that greatly reduces rack shake - but the inline lock does not work on the Y. What's worse, its difficult to lock a cable to the towing chain loops so you have to lock the...
