Back off! Pearl white is a very special color. My last mineral white BMW had mismatching paint!!!!! .... Now that I remember it. I had an accident, so the front had to be painted. Even then, it looked 100 times better than the Model Y I rejected last week.

There should not be any mismatch. And if there is, you will have to live convincing yourself and maybe others that it is not that bad. ;)

Tesla has plenty of perfectly fine pearl white Models 3, S, X on the streets. Other companies too. This is the main reason why I rejected the car - I just wasn't ready to justify Tesla’s ****ups by comparing it to other cars.

I totally agree! If they admit that it is a problem, they are facing spending more than $2000 to fix it.

I highly doubt they transported it to New York because it was still on the parking lot on Wednesday (sad looking). The VIN was - xx291 EDIT: Just noticed - My had a black interior.

Did you really have to rub it in by reposting the picture I took of the MY, I rejected? :( It still hurts every time I see it or any other picture of white MYs, posted by unsuspecting owners. There are quite a few out there.

I would assume those areas are not safe without special equipment (toxic elements in the air?!) ..... and the QC team fixes imperfections with whiteouts. Passed Tesla Service Center saw at least three white MYs with mismatched paint on doors. ;)

How would they know the color of your car if it is all covered with the painter's tape?;)

Let's agree that the vast majority of CAR buyers don't read forum posts and don't spend an hour carefully examining every inch of the vehicle. Maybe, it is because at the $60K+ price point, the car expected to look close to perfect. Perhaps rejecting the car over the paint bubble is a little...

Just take your time to go over the checklist. It might be easier if you have someone else with you. In my case, I knew I am not buying the car the moment I saw it.

I would be interested to know what Tesla offers to resolve the issue. They offered to paint mine if I accept the delivery, but there would be no loaner(!!!)

Many refused the delivery (myself included), so Tesla immediately reassigns the car to the next person on the list. Despite somebody advising not to chase the VIN, yours does look like the fresh from the owen!

That's why I declined their offer to accept the delivery and let them "make it right." Even though no promises for the loaner. I would be OK with a couple of imperfections, but this is too much. :)

They need better lighting in that tent. :) The wrap would be nice to protect the paint but NOT to cover-up Tesla's screw-ups. ;)

It is what it is. The checklist I brought with me did not matter when the car was rolled out to the parking lot. The mismatched paint was apparent. I saw a couple more with the same issue, but no one seemed to care as much.

It is hard to say from this photo, but last week there were quite a few reports about mismatching paint. I rejected mine for exactly the same reason. So I am not surprised about your observation. Here is the photos of the car from Saturday.

Agreed! Same with white models, at least four on the parking lot yesterday. The car I rejected, except for different shades of white on the driver side doors, had minor issues with alignments. I didn't spend much time on the interior; I was just too upset.

Good point. I tried to do the same with the first one, but the service center in Rockville, MD, had it hidden really well. I will try my luck again on Tuesday.

I hate that you are spending your time here and NOT driving around in Model Y, but I am happy that my post helped you to catch the issue and walk away from the lousy deal. I have another car assigned to me already. Based on the VIN (129xx), I feel that it has been rejected as well. I wonder...

Such a bummer. Just when I thought I had the worst issue to reject the car.

I wish I saw those posts before I went to the dealership for delivery. I could not believe my eyes. What's even more frustrating is the fact that Tesla staff knew about this issue, but let a couple of unsuspecting customers drive away in cars with a horrible paint job.

Sorry to hear this! I've checked another four white MY's on the lot. All had issues with the color of the doors being different. At that point, I didn't care much about the alignment of the doors or taillights. The service center could fix them eventually, but I didn't like the idea of the brand...
